DH (who is the "cheap flight to Dublin" expert!) says that most city centre hotels are quite expensive. Youth hostels would be cheapest of all but B&Bs are really the only things reasonably priced. You might like to look at B&Bs along the DART railway (south out of Dublin) that runs along the coast. There's some quite nice beaches that way.
There are some Travelodges, including one to the north of Dublin, that's on a bus route.
He also has some tips about buses if you need to get into Dublin from the airport. Don't buy a discounted coach ticket on the flight, if you go to a ticket machine just outside the exit from airport, get a Rambler ticket for 6Euros (sorry not good at links but you can take a look here)(www.dublinbus.ie/fares_and_tickets/daily.asp, it'll give you unlimited bus travel around Dublin, including the 747 service from airport to Dublin. And if you get off by the GPO in O'Connell Street, there's a bus office with timetables etc.
Hope all that helps!

Hotels in the centre are quite expensive. I stayed in a very reasonable b and b but sorry can't remember the name of it and it was walking distance of the city. Basic but very clean and seamus the owner was lovely,(quite fancied him, think it was the accent). Found it searching on the internet. I'll try to remember if I can. It was about £40 per person per night. Great city, people very friendly.

The last time we were in Dublin, we actually stayed in Howth, then got the DART in - much cheaper, Howth and Malahide a re both v nice, on the coast, good restaraunts etc. The DART was really handy too.

Hi again Aimsmum, can you give me a rough budget as to how much you are willing to pay per night sterling and I'll see what I can find?

cheers
Mhamai

Mhamai · 23/05/2007 18:21

hotels There is one that is the fifth one down called Best Weston Sheldon, their rate is 85 euro per night. There is a luas tram about ten minute walk from this and then fifteen minute ride into town. I will now see if I can find B&B and events.
ps
Best Weston seems to be cheapest but I didn't look at them all!
HTH for now.

Mhamai · 23/05/2007 18:31

Mhamai · 23/05/2007 18:43

\link{http://www.dublinevents.com/dublin-bed-and-breakfasts.php?lm_offset=4&page=8\this site gives events as well as B&B's. Will look up specific events for those dates now.

Mhamai · 23/05/2007 18:44

http:dublinevents.com this even.

Mhamai · 23/05/2007 18:56

can't find specific events for your dates but this site will come in handy closer to your dates. If you need anything else, just holler!

Ooh ps
If you want to save on money re airport taxi's Id reccomend getting a coach to the city centre as taxi's are around 50euro. Coaches leave from just outside arrivals. Hope you have a great time!!!!!!!!!
