Hi Everyone!
I am new to mums net! I’m an avid watcher from the side line but have never posted. Here goes! As the title says my partner still has no passport on May 2nd we did an online renewal 4th of May we sent new photos etc! Since we received a letter asking for a statement to say why passport was damaged a counter signature for 2 more photos and a counter signer to complete section 10 of the form they had sent! Since this date I have rang almost daily requesting call backs upgrades fast tracks! 1- call back still hasn’t happened 2-can’t upgrade as the application is still “being processed” 3-to fast track I need to do a new application! I have also asked for an appointment in Liverpool to be told for an appointment my current application needs to be cancelled and a cancellation request could take 2 weeks?!?! Has anyone ever had any similar experiences? Can my partner just drive to Liverpool and beg to be seen and have current application cancelled there and then? I am completely at a loss! Not to sound dramatic but literally loosing sleep! Can’t focus and basically loosing my cool
Any help would be so appreciated
X

Your right the prices are through the roof i genuinely believe they leave you to the point of sheer desperation so that your willing to pay there “upgrade fees”

^What a load of crap. People have plenty of time to apply for a new passport.

You didn’t bother and now moan, moan, moan.

HateSummer · 01/06/2018 09:20

What do you suggest she does Soup? 🙄.

imip · 01/06/2018 09:26

A great thing HMPO did this year was text us before one of our dds passports expired. We are a family of six, all with different EU residency and dh and I another country outside the EU. I thought I was on top of all the expiry dates of our collective passports, but no. They tested literally two weeks before we were going to our home country to see my mum with dementia. Thankfully we got it sorted in time. Texting, such an obviously good idea!

Quartz2208 · 01/06/2018 09:39

To be fair I assume a holiday to Florida was booked when his passport was fine (you only need the length of the holiday on your passport) and then the passport was ruined.

Firstly OP you are not the dope for that he needs to take responsibility for it as well. It’s an expensive and stressful lesson learnt

Secondly do your ESTA and your daughters now!

SoupDragon · 01/06/2018 10:15

What do you suggest she does Soup? 🙄.

Why the eye rolling? Do you think telling her what she should have done is at all helpful then?

I’m not sure what she can do but I’m very sure that she can’t go back and apply earlier or whatever other things are being said.

Turnerjamy · 01/06/2018 10:16

@soupdragon Exactly there is a whole lot of criticism on here from grown women that I really wasn’t expecting x! @imip That’s really good to hear I bet you was so grateful of that txt! I’m glad you got to travel to see your mum x @Quartz2208 Luckily new passport arrive at 9am this morning as promised all of our estas are done now! Stress over and now just looking forward to our hols x

Yeah, but you've wasted loads of time hassling people and costing us (the taxpayer) money (MP, my arse) because you and your DH can't be asked to check pockets before you wash your clothes.

Take some responsibility, say it's my fault and stop having a tantrum.

Turnerjamy · 01/06/2018 10:48

@Pippylou what time did I waste? I did it within the timescales required!!!! How the hell has it cost the tax payer money? Are you for real? What the hell has checking he’s pockets got to do with it? I told them from the beginning it was damaged?? As for taking responsibility read through the last 100 post at any point did I say it wasn’t my fault! @pippylou sling it throwing your penny’s worth in with down right petty comments find anoth post to have a rant on

Jaxhog · 01/06/2018 11:11

I'd just keep calling them and pleading. Is it too late to go the emergency passport route? He might have to go to London though.

It's easy to say you should have applied sooner, but you didn't know you were going to wash his passport!

I do sympathise. I have dual nationality, and had a similar problem getting my Canadian passport through last year for a trip to Canada (they won't allow dual citizens in without one - a new rule). It finally arrived the Friday before I was due to fly out on the Monday. Fingers crossed yours will also arrive in time.

Turnerjamy · 01/06/2018 11:17

Hi @jaxhog it actually arrived this morning thank goddess! We did an upgrade yesterday in order to receive it today x

Jaxhog · 01/06/2018 13:03

Phew! That must be a relief. Have a wonderful holiday.

HateSummer · 01/06/2018 13:17

The eye rolling because you seem to appear on every thread I’ve posted on making snide comments aimed at posters who apparently haven’t given proper advice. Yet you don’t appear to have anything else worthwhile to offer. And you’ve been doing this for a really long time now.

SoupDragon · 01/06/2018 13:52

If you think that telling her what she should have done and can’t rectify is “proper advice” or in any way helpful than I don’t know what to say.

SoupDragon · 01/06/2018 13:54

Pointing out that something is rubbish is more helpful and worthwhile than spouting that rubbish in the first place. Your “helpful and worthwhile” advice was to roll your eyes at the OP having washed the passport and tell her she shouldn’t have booked a holiday.

Pressuredrip · 01/06/2018 14:06

I'm so relieved for you OP, my stomach was in knots reading that. I was going to suggest just risking it with the old passport but glad you've got it sorted.

HateSummer · 01/06/2018 14:36

🙄😒

Turnerjamy · 01/06/2018 15:21

@soupdragon well I for one was very greatful for your support and also grateful for you not being a judgement know it all like a few of the rest xx @pressuredrip thank you so much we got sorted in the end! I will be pouring a large glass of wine tonight after the week I have had haha xx

BakedBeans47 · 01/06/2018 16:03

Glad it arrived, not sure why so many people have been such dicks, you’re hardly the first person to have posted here about passport woes!

Have a great holiday

Turnerjamy · 01/06/2018 16:19

Hi @bakedbeans47 I probably won’t be the last either haha. I know jumping on the bandwagon... Thank you so much and thanks again for your advice earlier on in the thread x

kyrenialady · 01/06/2018 16:30

Glad you got the passport OP.

Hope the ESTA goes through fine now.

Turnerjamy · 01/06/2018 17:30

@kyrenialady thankyou! ESTAs are all done took a couple of minutes! I’m feeling very relaxed now ha x

kyrenialady · 01/06/2018 17:35

That's good, I always worry about ESTA's in case I am on some wanted list. Grin

Have a good time!!

Shiftymake · 01/06/2018 18:17

Super happy for you that it came through! Was crossing fingers and toes for it to get to you in time, was a very stressful lesson though so feet up and relax, hope you have a wonderful, relaxing holiday Smile

Brunsdon1 · 01/06/2018 18:38

It can be so frustrating can't it ...ive just had to pay a ridiculous amount of money to renew mine and to be fair it was entirely my issue about it

Got a job and as it requires some travel your ID must be a passport to be able to start ...well mine got lost years ago and had never bothered to update it

To be fair yes timescales are within your control and it was a bit last minute but bloody he'll life happens

The passport rules are not clear at all....i ran around for sodding days to find a counter signatory it was really stressful ,upset my neighbour ( long story and all's right now) to get to the passport office where she shrugged and said oh it's fine you didn't need one

I looked at her gaped and said "but ...but...it Clearly says "

She said yes but if I can ID you another way it's fine

I wisely shut up as upsetting her would not end well...cant fight the passport service but the sodding rule caused np end of havoc

So it's not as fixed as everyone says

Glad it's all sorted OP

Turnerjamy · 01/06/2018 19:58

Thanks @shiftymake I can’t wait to be on that plane now! (After the hairdresser fixes the 50,000 new grey hairs this whole fiasco has cause) Thanks again! @Brunsdon1 it’s exactly that isn’t it just one of those things.. I never had an issue getting any of our passports for years I presumed based on all my previous applications it would be a run of mill new print and job done! But this has been a nightmare the frustrating part wasn’t the actual wait it was the fact I just wasn’t being a timescale just basically given the run around to the next department etc..It drives me mad how a whole organisation of such importance can be giving customers such conflicting info from one call to the next! Oh well panic over on the plus side that’s our stresses over for the next 10 years... Hopefully x
