Hi Everyone!
I am new to mums net! I’m an avid watcher from the side line but have never posted. Here goes! As the title says my partner still has no passport on May 2nd we did an online renewal 4th of May we sent new photos etc! Since we received a letter asking for a statement to say why passport was damaged a counter signature for 2 more photos and a counter signer to complete section 10 of the form they had sent! Since this date I have rang almost daily requesting call backs upgrades fast tracks! 1- call back still hasn’t happened 2-can’t upgrade as the application is still “being processed” 3-to fast track I need to do a new application! I have also asked for an appointment in Liverpool to be told for an appointment my current application needs to be cancelled and a cancellation request could take 2 weeks?!?! Has anyone ever had any similar experiences? Can my partner just drive to Liverpool and beg to be seen and have current application cancelled there and then? I am completely at a loss! Not to sound dramatic but literally loosing sleep! Can’t focus and basically loosing my cool
Any help would be so appreciated
X

@RafalsTheKingOfClay firstly I haven’t spoke to anyone in the passport with anything but a polite but desperate tone! Secondly the reason I am getting so annoyed on here is it seems that many people like to come and throw stones rather than advice “it’s your fault” “it’s a busy time” “should of done it earlier” people should stop copying timescales etc from google- regardless of how it’s got to this point I didn’t ask what people though of the process I asked for advice

@LIZS I think this is exactly what has caused the delay! I though ticking this box up front actually would of helped speed up the process with them knowing it would be already damaged when it arrived with them. Hopefully yours will be completed within the timescales provided. Fingers crossed x

How did you manage to wash the passport a few times? I'm intrigued by this!

Flyingpompom · 31/05/2018 09:24

I was coming on to say contact your MP. It worked for me! I see you've already done this.

LIZS · 31/05/2018 09:26

Why is it down to you to chase your partner's passport? Should they not be sorting it?

Concentrate on making other travel plans, on the assumption that the passport won't turn up by Wednesday. Chasing up the passport office is fruitless, and the only chance of getting it in time is by luck rather than anything you can do.

Everyone buggers up now and then. It's a better user of your energy to come up with a different plan than to get yourself further worked up about a mistake.

SeriousSass · 31/05/2018 09:37

Blimey OP, you are very bolshy. I know you must be stressed but there is no need to get so stroppy.

Turnerjamy · 31/05/2018 09:48

@bustergonad I have actually washed it about 3 times he travels a lot for Work and constantly leaves he’s passport in he’s pockets! I’m such a dope! @LIZS he is pretty useless when he calls he stutters on phone gets all flustered and panicky I tend to deal with it hi @greengardenchairs yes when I called before submitting the application that was my initial query as I wasn’t sure if I had to pay extra I was half way through the online application when I called it the options was silly so I called for advice

Hi @flyingpompom thanks for that yes I sent an email last night in desperation. I have seen quite a few people say they have tried local MPs some with positive results some not so much fingers crossed

BusterGonad · 31/05/2018 09:50

Ah, I see, a lot easier to do when it's used frequently. Good luck Op, I hope it all works out for you. Most of my passports have arrived very quickly so hopefully now they've got all they need you'll get it back asap.

Dermymc · 31/05/2018 09:52

OP you haven't a leg to stand on.

I'd wait for another flight.

Turnerjamy · 31/05/2018 09:54

@ShatnersBassoon Hi that’s currently what we are doing. We are trying to price up flys later in the week. It’s just so expensive. I will be completing my esta later. I have just got off the phone to the passport office they advised the passport has been approved and we are now waiting for a call back to discuss fast track/ upgrade options call could be today or tomorrow he couldn’t give an exact time. Hopefully it will be today. To save time on postage we also said we could drive to Liverpool to collect the passport

what do you want people to say?

Nobody can tell you to do anything differently to what is stated on the passport office website. Your passport is NOT the only one that is being processed.
You are in the wrong. Stop being rude to people.

Turnerjamy · 31/05/2018 09:56

@Bustergonad yes he uses it I’d say almost daily. Drives me mad as mine and my daughters are put away and we never have any issues but he’s seems to always be with him when ever he’s working! Thanks for your well wishes

Shiftymake · 31/05/2018 09:57

I hate to say this but you really should have used fast track and the post office to check your application before sending in. They are worth the extra money as they will make sure that your application and all the information needed is there before sending anything off. Chalk this up in experience so to avoid in the future. www.gov.uk/get-a-passport-urgently has some advise that might help and www.gov.uk/passport-advice-line.

Turnerjamy · 31/05/2018 10:00

@greengardenchairs I told the lady while doing the application that it’s been in the washer she told me to tick on the application that it was damaged and that it would state at the end of the application what I needed to provide a counter signature wasn’t one of them i may not of been in such a mess now if it had of requested it from 1st instance
@crunchtime I wanted advice I didn’t want people telling me a) what I already knew & b) how not to fix the problem. The post is clearly title advice not to tell me all of how this works when I have spoke to the passport office daily and heard all of this already

Hi @shiftymake I thought I was saving time by using the online application now looking back if I had of gone direct to the post office with a passport renewal form etc. I definitely won’t be using the online service when mine or my daughters passport is up for renewal. It’s quite confusing and since the initial application online I haven’t been able to log in and check progress so it’s pretty much useless. Post office all the way for me from now on x

Turnerjamy · 31/05/2018 10:07

@greengardenchairs it’s always me that makes the phone calls, he’s pretty useless on the phone.. In all honesty the passport really wasn’t looking that bad considering it’s been washed 3 time the chip I’m pretty sure wouldn’t have worked and water damage seemed to be in all of the corners, with me declaring this on the application and them not asking for counter signatures I assumed all was fine

A couple of years ago I cut it a bit fine renewing my DD's passport for a school trip- and then they sent it back because a signature had gone out of the box - we phoned them and they couldn't have been more helpful- like you couldn't change the application as it was underway but paid extra to have it couriered to us as soon as it was done- it arrived in the afternoon and the school trip left that night!
Just keep being very polite and apologetic on the phone- 🤞for you!

Turnerjamy · 31/05/2018 10:14

@ElfrideSwancourt hi I have left it a bit fine too. It’s so easily done to though.glad you got it in time hopefully we will all be on that flight together

We had to cancel a holiday to Sri Lanka due to not realizing that you need 6 months on the passport, luckily our airline were fantastic, we went direct to the air line rather than the booking company and we used the flights at a later date. It's disheartening but we got over it!
