Which other European cities do you like? I am not a fan of London, Paris or New York but really like Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Seville and Granada. Trying to think of somewhere (new) to go for a birthday weekend - preferably not in Spain - and wondered if anyone had any good ideas?

Lisbon.

Criminally underrated and a beautiful city.

I loved Lisbon. I don't often hear of people going there for a short break, but we had a great time there.

I want to go to Antwerp now .

Lyon, super city, very manageable size, superb food, easy day trips say, to Annency, lots of UK flights there or the Eurostar. In the summer there is also the fab the Piscine du Rhone, right on the (or one of the) rivers. I love Lyon.

If it’s in December Lyon also has the Festival of Lights.

We went to Krakow last December. Had 5 nights there and had an amazing time. Didn't even scratch the surface of everything that could be seen. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Berlin, Berlin, Berlin.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/01/2018 16:59

But I also want to go to Krakow.

VanillaSugarGlider · 20/01/2018 17:04

We had an epic time in Bruges and Brussels. So easy to get to!

We lived in Berlin for several years..it's a nice place..I preferred Krakow though..though they do have a similar feeling.

Munich or Cologne at Christmas time. They are so pretty (with a good chance of snow).

caoraich · 20/01/2018 17:24

Budapest
Prague
Reykjavik (small but similar vibe)

I was coming on to suggest Krakow Grin. I was there for the first time at the end of last year and I just completely fell in love with it. I don't know why, I'm not usually one to go on about a place but from the minute we got off the plane I just loved it. Sounds a bit wanky but I really felt at home there.
