Disneyland Paris versus Legoland Windsor

If you have done both... how do you rate them ?
Just did a break at Legoland and it's half the price of Disney... wondered how Disney compared.
We have a 7yo a 5yo and a baby. We're thinking July... Newport Hotel for 2 nights. Thanks

I'd go for DLP every time. TBH I just didn't think Legoland was that great. Yes, the lego models are impressive but not for that long, and the rides are very tame and again - not that many. Lots more at DLP and the Studios next door.

id go to paultons park near southapton
our kids love it
save some moeny!

pupuce · 15/04/2007 22:04

My kids were quite scared of some of the rides at Legoland... of course DH was to blame as he got them in the scariest roller coaster!!! So they refused some of the other rides!
DS (7) LOVED the model towns, he must have spent an hour each day!

DH says Disney will be cleaner... I thought Legoland was very clean. Food highly un-impressive.... but I hear the same of Disney.

Hulababy · 15/04/2007 22:05

Food at DLp is typical theme park food on the whole - hot dogs, burgers and fries. You can get sandwiches and slightly better food but you have to look much harder!

pupuce · 15/04/2007 22:07

Is Ponce the cod

hmm
i think theme parks are of limited use int eh GRand Scheme of htings
haev managed ot get to 37 wihtout going to DLP

Chipstick · 15/04/2007 22:18

DLP everytime - Legoland is lovely for a day trip as long as the weather is nice, but 1 day for us was more than enough.

As stated earlier, the food at DLP is terrible, you will consume no vitamins the whole time you are there! However, my kids still talk about the Micky Mouse shaped Pizzas.

pupuce · 15/04/2007 22:19

Well I'm 39 LOL and have yet to go !!!

Theresa · 17/04/2007 17:17

We're based in newcastle & visited legoland last year for first time and loved it. however we've been to dlp about 7 times now (on one of our trips we bought an annual pass and so felt obliged to get our moneys worth!) and it'slovely. check out www.disboards.com for loads of info. you'll need to scroll down to the 'DLP' section.

DLP every time

LIZS · 17/04/2007 17:32

For a break DLP. Legoland is nice for a day out with a range of ages but lacks the charisma of Disney. Rides have improved at Legoland but still not on the scale of DLP and we actually thought the food last year was ok there with a decent range, more so than DLP.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 17/04/2007 17:39

agree with cf you cant compare the two as they're totally different and probably both have their place. Although I haven't been to either but I have been to disney in Florida some time ago...

MintChocChippyMinton · 17/04/2007 17:51

If i was paying for a break i'd go for DLP as it's more of an all-round experience, especially in summer with the nightime parades etc. Newport Bay is a good choice, it has a lovely indoor/outdoor pool, you could do the parks in the morning, have a break in the afternoon and go back for the evening.
We have lego season tickets and pop in and out so it's hard to judge it as a holiday destination.

Eve · 17/04/2007 18:34

Paultons park is great... though only for 1 day!

DS1 had me on the Cobra 5 time in a row Sunday...I hate the thing!!

Tamum · 17/04/2007 18:36

Oh, I'd say DLP hands down. I guess for very tiny children Legoland might be better but they're not comparable otherwise.

pupuce · 17/04/2007 19:24

Thanks everyone... oif we can pay for it we'll definitely go!

Have been to DLP and Legoland, and both ok but not ideal for pre-school age children. Food terrible at both.
Agree with comments re Paultons. Have been twice with 4 and 2 year old and they both loved it. Much better value, excellent food and no queues.
Best by far that we have been to is Longleat Safari Park and adventure area near Bath. No roller coaster type rides, but fantastic for younger children, excellent value for money and great food.

12yeargap · 18/04/2007 13:13

DLP is wonderful, but be prepared to be quque jumped shamelessly at every opportunity, drives you mad.

Legoland and Paultons really nice days out, but Disney parks are in a different league.

Start saving for Florida, after DLP you will want to go.

12yeargap · 18/04/2007 13:14

queue jumped...
