Where can I take my husband on our anniversary in March that will be warm?

Can't be for more then 3 nights as I don't want to leave son with inlaws for any longer then that

We don't mind a medium flight but it can't be so long we just lay about tired on either end of it

I want to stay in a five star hotel but a reasonably priced one

It would be great if it wasn't somewhere we have been before.

I have thought about Seville even though we have been there for the day

Good food essential.

So far we have been in Europe to
Lisbon (which I adore beyond words)
Barcelona
Paris
Nice
Cannes
Rome
Tuscany
The Algarve
Switzerland (all of because I have links there)
Skiing at Les Arcs

He has been to Croatia and so have I but not at the same time.

So I was thinking about Seville but now I'm not sure if three days there is too many?

Or if I went somewhere that wasn't warm what about New York as he hasn't been there yet

What about Ibiza for some outdoor activities like mountain biking etc?

Or the very very south of Italy?

I feel weary of Spain and France mainland due to the instability there at the minute although I am an overly anxious person.

If you have ideas I'll be delighted to hear them!

Thank you

I've probably missed places we have been. I don't want to go skiing this time.

Venice?? We went for 3 nights in summer, loads to see and do, nice shopping, and if you stay in hotel away from st marks square you can find lovely quiet places to get away

juneau · 05/11/2017 18:22

Seville is lovely and would be warm. Malaga would also be nice. Otherwise yes, Ibiza or Palma.

I liked Lanzarote, but it doesn't have the kind of old town with bar scene that maybe you're looking for. It does have some nice 5-star hotels. However, it's a 4+ hour flight, which for 3 night would put me off.

New York - too far, too cold and 3 days is not enough.

Wild horses couldn't drag me to Dubai at any time of year.

Otherwise, Syracuse in Sicily would be lovely.

juneau · 05/11/2017 18:25

If you want hot, as opposed to warm, you'll need to go further than Europe in March.

Sentimentallentil · 05/11/2017 18:30

Another plus for lanzarote is that everything is very close to the airport the longest transfer is going to be 45 minutes tops, so even though the flight is 4.5 hours, if you get a flight at 9am you could be on the beach by 2.30pm and there’s no time difference so you don’t lose any of your day that way.

It’s true there isn’t a bar scene but for 3 days it’s got plenty of nice places to visit and is perfect to slap your arse to a beach in a luxury hotel for a bargain price.

dissapointedafternoon · 05/11/2017 18:35

I'm going to look at Lanzarotte.
I am such a snob.

I can't remember where he went before with his ex and apparently could drive from one side to the other of the island in 40 mins and it was like a desert. Il do a stealth probe tomorrow to see

Valencia

Maria1982 · 05/11/2017 18:41

I think Seville sounds good! I don't think 3 nights too long at all.

Or if you want similar but not the same, Granada? visit the Alhambra Smile gorgeous food etc

dissapointedafternoon · 05/11/2017 18:42

Valencia and Granada were not even places I had thought of, let me have a Dr Google 😘
Thanks girls

Desert sounds more like Gran Canaria.

I'd forgotten about Valencia - that's another one.

Sentimentallentil · 05/11/2017 18:44

I’m a total snob too!!! I was so against lanzarote, I almost cancelled and went somewhere else, but Playa Blanca is lovely and it’s perfect for a 3 day break in March to relax.
Will you be blown away by the culture? No. Will you have an easy couple of days with gorgeous sun, nice food and beautiful beaches? Yes.

Taffeta · 05/11/2017 18:48

Try Hospes Palau de la Mar in Valencia

Food is awesome - it’s the home of paella.....

AtlanticWaves · 05/11/2017 18:52

Venice would be cold. I went at the end of February and froze despite the blue sky and sun.

We have a similar dilemma so watching with interest

dissapointedafternoon · 05/11/2017 18:55

Valencia looks like it will be cold :(

I looove paella

Grenada...
Fab place and would probably be warm.

Zaragoza might not be very warm but fantastic city in Spain. Madrid?

La Rochelle, Nice in France?

Taffeta · 05/11/2017 18:57

I’d be surprised if it’s cold. Went to Barcelona which is further north in November and it was 70 degrees. How hot do you want it?

dissapointedafternoon · 05/11/2017 18:57

Yes it might have been Gran Canaria
She was basic anyway 🤣 haha
Whatever I have to say to make myself feel better.

I'll have a snoop at Lanzarote now . Promise

Can't do Greece... again instability fears getting the better of me

HollowCity · 05/11/2017 19:00

Understand...I'm not keen on Athens tbh but it'd probably be warm. Corsica?

Taffeta · 05/11/2017 19:00

If you’re going 15-19 March it’s the Las Fallas festival where they set everything on fire, so that’ll make it nice and warm 🤣

Laska5772 · 05/11/2017 19:06

We went to Syracuse ( Ortiga)in Sicily for a week in April a few years ago, it wasn't that warm and rained a lot fair bit..We never got to see Etna either going in or out.it was so cloudy.

But we had a great time Ortiga is lovely !!

dissapointedafternoon · 05/11/2017 19:23

Corsica!!
Hadn't thought of that. What a great idea
