'Your' is NOT the same as 'You are' or 'You're'

For example : you're invited to my party,
not : your invited to my party.

Was looking at deed poll websites and found one that said they could do it over internet 'Fastly and easily'. Does this word fastly even exist?Let alone instill confidence in the so called solicitors running website.I Not v good at spelling when typing but they should be

SenoraPostrophe · 09/04/2007 14:12

now lawyers who say "fastly" are a different matter entirely.

Which one, GreenandBlack?
I didn't correct anyone in particular but it still really winds people up!

Misdee - this sort of thing IS important if we need to help children with homework or write official letters/job applications. It's not the sort of thing anyone will correct you on in RL.

bad grammar annoys the hell out of me. But, only where it matters, as in official letters etc. I have actually had my intelligence questioned on here for bad English, i got quite cross about it so i did. Then i read what i had written and thought, oh dear thats just the sort of thing that gets my goat. I just think that on here we are often too busy ranting to think about how we put it across.

misdee · 09/04/2007 14:20

in real life i am good at english. on here i dont care.

my typing skills leave a lot to be desired and i am too lazy to coreect on here. i'm not gettign graded on it, so who cares.

Indith · 09/04/2007 14:24

grammar annoys me, your/you're and apostraphs are the worst but i spnd much of my time typing on a very dodgy kyboard where half the letters don't work (mostlt toast crmb imflicted) either feeding or bouncing ds with one hand so I don't lt it gt to me on here as mine s just as bad. Especially when left handd like now!

PeachyChocolateEClair · 09/04/2007 14:34

Whizzz, ds's school has the same standard of grammar.

Scary isn't it?

I mean, I know I can't type but I am NEVER hauled up for spelling or gramamr at Uni, unusually. The typing is sdue to wrist pronblmes (arthritis) and eyesight, which I can proof read on BIG if I need.

This (MN), its just quick shot messaging- it doesn't matter.

Roseanna · 09/04/2007 14:52

Otter, I noticed that one and was stunned, because I have heard lend used to mean borrow all my life, but never ever the other way round.

Lilymaid · 09/04/2007 15:36

I'm amused by posters who go on about how well their DCs are doing at "grammer" school. Obviously didn't rub off on the DPs.
