Is there such a thing as All Inclusive in a self-contained flat/house rather than hotel rooms??

We are just back from holiday and it was lovely.
So to treat my post-holiday slump I am pondering next summer Grin

We've always done self-catering, usually in some kind of villa with pool.
We have 4 kids and my parents usually join us, so that makes 8 of us in total.

I love the whole waking up in your 'own' house thing, but got fed up with cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping this year. We are not much for going out for every meal, so I am not keen to suggest that.

I was wondering whether there is such a thing as a self-contained flat/property as part of a hotel complex that would provide food and a pool and maybe some kids' clubs/activities? Beach resort preferred, I am not all that fussed where.

Anybody been to such a place?

TIA.

Loads of places do! We stayed in an apartment two years ago in menorca but were half board. Food wasn't great tbh and the apartment was so noisy we've not done it since. It was 4* so we had quite high hopes but it just wasn't that good.

QuiteLikely5 · 04/08/2017 09:22

You can hire villas in hotel resorts and be all inclusive. Google is your friend. Won't be cheap though. Quite often you will have your own pool etc

BigGreenOlives · 04/08/2017 09:22

I think there are some villas at Vila Vita Parc in Portugal.

If there are 4 adults on the holiday then you share the tasks. Either 1 person responsible for everything for one day which gives you three free days , or each couple does a day, every other day off.

We were in a 2 bed apartment in Crete last year on an all inclusive basis. Sentido Acadia resort in Sissi. Lovely it was too.

PoppyPopcorn · 04/08/2017 09:27

Sentido Vasia.

We stayed in a Villa in Turkey with own pool etc but did half board in the hotel. That's in Dalyan (club alla Turka). Lovely place. A lot of the big AI hotels on the Antalya coast (Lara Beach/Belek etc) have villas within the complex.

Otherwise, loads of places do apartments and offer AI. Try Estival Parc in La Pineda, Spain. Lovely little resort but handy for Barcelona, Portaventura etc

Do you definitely want somewhere with a kitchen, or do you just want more space than a hotel room?

When say you don't want to go out for a meal every night, does that include on this holiday as well?

PacificDogwod · 04/08/2017 09:32

Ooh, thank you, lots of quick replies, thanks, folks! Smile

That's great that there are options, lovely.

A noisy resort would piss me off.
I have to sell this whole idea to DH as well, he is a bit of a hermit asocial recluse whereas I am NOT...

I'll start looking at options then.

I found something lovely, 4 bedroom villa on Mallorca, with cook and nanny and pool, all drinks included but it was £18.000 for 2 weeks. Without flights or rental car. Ah, well.

sparechange, I'd prefer us all to live together, rather than in separate hotel rooms.
I'm not bothered about a working kitchen, but a kettle and fridge would be very welcome ( + freezer for ice cubes!)

Re going out: if it was half-board or AI then I'd fully expect to go to some kind of dining room?
I have NO hotel holiday experience.
We always camped or done self-catering, including when I grew up Grin
We like being off the beaten track.

Just thought it through: so what I really want is a villa in some remote spot of spectacular natural beauty with a beach and fully staffed.
And reasonably priced, of course.

Not a big ask, is it? Grin

Pacific, try Turkey - have a look at Kalkan in particular. Not remote but very lovely & lots to do - beaches, beach clubs, boat trips, gorges, trout farms, endless Lycian ruins & above all pretty cheap.

HeartburnCentral · 04/08/2017 09:42

Look for Aparthotels. They are self catering accommodation with hotel facilities.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2017 09:49

Dalyan isn't on a beach but is a lovely laid back place - it's on a river and you jump on the boat down to the beach - look it up. There are no large hotels and no-one does all inclusive. Hotel has a dining room and you go across for a buffet breakfast and buffet style dinner or bbq. Villas have their own pools and there is a pool in the hotel too. Not loads in the hotel but table tennis, pool etc and I guess an opportunity for the kids to make friends. There is a little shop nearby or it's about a 10 minute walk by the river into the "town". There's a playground for kids in the town square.

I'd go back in a flash.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2017 09:50

It's not a huge hotel either so the dining bit is equivalent to a restaurant rather than having thousands passing through.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2017 09:52

Taxi driver that brought us in from airport described Dalyan as having "No boom boom boom" meaning it's a quiet resort. Lovely restaurants there too if you fancy a change or want to get lunch out.

PacificDogwod · 04/08/2017 10:02

Ok, Turkey is on my list.

No boom boom boom is my kind of resort Grin

There is so many different options - but you may need some compromise with the all inclusive!

Although staffed villa sounds amazing!

Aparthotels offer apartments within a complex. They have SC facilities usually but the complexes are often busy and noisy.

Villas can be found in some complexes and you can pay supplement for AI but have to eat in restaurants. It may be noisier than you'd want.

Holiday villages are all inclusive and offer swim up rooms so you get that privacy feeling. You can book adjacent rooms if you need 2. But again the complexes are often extremely busy and noisy.

If you look on place such as trivago they find complexes that aren't on the typical tour operators page. You may find something that interests you or a style of place you like. Often the more inland places are smaller and quieter and may suit you better but the compromise will be a drive to town or beach.

Dalyan is lovely and very cheap to eat out and the boat to the beach through the reeds/rushes makes it feel like a proper trip. We did a boat trip that you can pay more for for having it very under occupied. Something like a boat for 60 with less than 20 people on. Takes you out into the bays and you can jump off and swim in the sea - there was a boat zooming about that pulls up and sells ice creams :o

youarenotkiddingme · 04/08/2017 10:40

That's lovely Pacific Mallorca is gorgeous too - especially Pollenca and Peurto Alcudia

PoppyPopcorn · 04/08/2017 10:43

The place we stayed in Sissi had a fridge and kettle but no kitchen. It was a very quiet resort - Malia is about 5 miles up the coast which is popular with the 18-30 crowd but Sissi is very quiet. Only drawback is that there isn't much of a beach, but we did swim in the sea. Food was good - we always found plenty of choice but some people were complaining it was "foreign" - there were lots of nationalities at the hotel so they are catering for everyone. Lots of gorgeous bread and salad options and always fish/meat dishes which were lovely but the labels just said "fish in sauce" so you had to chance it... We had a lovely time. There's a kids club and entertainment for all ages in the evenings, all very low key and no enforced joining-in if you're not up for it.

PacificDogwod · 04/08/2017 10:47

Ah crap, I am looking at villas again!
I just cannot help myself... Hmm
