Which of the English school holidays would be best for Disneyland Paris?

Tied to Engish school holidays only as dh is a TA (and dd is Reception so technically couldnt take her either).

Which one is best for prices? We dont have masses of spare cash. Weather wise is it freezing during the Feb half term?

We live in Newcastle and I cant decide if train/eurostar would be easier than flight and coach out.

Feb half term was brilliant, we could run on and off rides didn't have to cue longer than 30mins for anything.

We brought some cheap ski wear from trespass and were lovely and toasty (a bit too hot sometimes) and a pair of waterproof shoes.

It was chilly but otherwise weather was lovely.

TittyGolightly · 30/04/2017 09:50

Feb half term is cheapest, May is quietest, October is busiest.

TittyGolightly · 30/04/2017 09:51

It will be cold in Feb, yes, especially after about 4pm. DLP is in a valley so can be windy too.

NapQueen · 30/04/2017 09:52

We have lots of warm weather gear as we usually ski the feb half term. Would the fireworks start earlier in the darker months? I had thought summer they wiuld be later to wait for the dark?

May is quietest? Im surprised at that! Would it be much more expensive?

Whichever time you go, you will have a great time. However I've been in February and it was very cold!
This year we are going in August. I got Easyjet flights in the sale for £28 return and booked the hotel (sequoia lodge) with Thomson. That was a grand for bed and breakfast for 5 nights. All in. Myself, and my two kids.
Usually we go to Florida, but as I too am working in a school, when we do this, the holiday is usually £4000 to £6000.
Apparently Paris can be toasty in August, so we will have to wait and see. Have a brill time!

The rest of Europe isn't off in May. ;)

It's about twice the price in May compared to Feb. Best time for you to book for next year would be this Sept on the 2 nights free deal. Don't buy a meal plan.

Fireworks in Feb are at 8pm (7pm uk equivalent).

BeyondThePage · 30/04/2017 09:54

We find May to be the best - weather wise, pleasant-ish, crowd wise, quiet-ish, price wise cheap-ish - and importantly for us - most, if not all of the rides and attractions are open. We found Feb/Mar to have the most ride closures.

We're over on the W coast and find flight+transfer is much easier and a LOT quicker than Eurostar for us.

NapQueen · 30/04/2017 09:55

Oh thanks for the tip to book in Sept. Is that offer available in travel agents too?

OP posts:
TittyGolightly · 30/04/2017 09:57

Usually. (Travel agents are only selling what Disney offer, after all!)

millifiori · 30/04/2017 09:57

We went at New Year - just after Christmas. It was freezing but it was also stunning. All the Christmas decorations and parades were still on, and best of all - the place was empty. You could walk onto every ride you wanted. We never queued more than 5-10 mins for anything, got great seats at all the ice and stunt shows. It was absolutely brilliant.

NapQueen · 30/04/2017 09:58

Ah right, I wasnt sure if it was one of those deals you only get if you book direct.

So no meal plan? Ive heard the food is pricey. The kids are easy to feed, cereal bars and fruit would work for breakfast and lunch of sandwiches and a biscuit. But it would be nice to have a warm evening meal together

Are the queues horrendous during the summer holidays?

DD chose Eurodisney instead of an 18th birthday party. We persuaded her to go in the summer when we will already be touring France in our caravan. She has SLD and might not cope with huge queues. I'm reading this and thinking we should've gone in winter instead.

CotswoldStrife · 30/04/2017 10:15

There are big queues (it's a very popular place!) but it may be possible to get a pass to cover anyone with a disability - look it up on their website for information on what is required to get one. It doesn't cover the whole family though.

They don't save you any money. Stick what a meal plan would cost on a pre-paid currency card. That way you cover the meals if you want them. If you're too tired for a full meal at the end of the day instead of wasting a voucher you use some of the money on a sandwich or snack and get to keep the rest for shop spends. :)

We prefer the buffet restaurants to the burger and chips type places. First time we went we were so ill from all the beige food. The buffets have vegetables!

TittyGolightly · 30/04/2017 10:25

The meal plan doesn't cover a lot of places too, e.g. Rainforest cafe.

C0untDucku1a · 30/04/2017 10:25

We went the last week of july into the first few days of august last year and it was quite quiet.

NapQueen · 30/04/2017 10:27

We do love a buffet.

When you book a trip that includes park tickets, do they mean day of arrival is day one? Or day after arrival is day one? Just so I know to go for an early flight there and an earier flight back.

You'll get tickets that are valid from the day you arrive until the day you leave.

IME a meal plan will save you money if you want several buffets,

Last time I checked it really didn't. The exchange rate is against you, for one.

DrSeuss · 30/04/2017 10:32

We are driving from Teesside, just south of you, in May. No school holidays in France then. I'm a secondary TA with a Y6 and a Y1 so also tied.

neonrainbow · 30/04/2017 10:38

I have no idea in terms of money but if you can go when the christmas stuff is on its brilliant.
