Money tight this year so staying close to home. Tell me your favourite place,

My favourite city is Manchester, like the IWM, culture, shopping and the people. Love the lakes in particular hawkshead oh and Kirby longsdale (mainly for booth!)

The wide beaches of North Norfolk. Especially Holkham, Wells and Weybourne - often even in summer you can be the only person on Weybourne beach.

Leeds, Sheffield and York, great cities to wander in.

Lincoln, if you're a mountain goat and can walk up steep hills

Melton Mowbray and Oakham for old fashioned market towns.

The tranquility of Rutland Water.

Derbyshire Dales to blow away the cobwebs

Kingston upon Thames for the falling telephone boxes and the fact that DH is from there.

Favourite place is Edinburgh. Next UK holiday I want to do the NC 500.

MiddlingMum · 28/04/2017 15:01

I wouldn't recommend Oxford unless you like crowds! Last time I was there I couldn't move for tourists. Seemingly the whole of Japan had turned out to stand in one road taking photos Grin

My favourite place is a wild and remote island far out in the Atlantic, but I doubt if that's what you're looking for. If you want toilets, a roof over your head and reliable connections to the rest of the world, then it's not the place to be, although it is outstandingly, breathtakingly beautiful.

Janey50 · 28/04/2017 16:42

Without a doubt,Jersey in the Channel Islands. I've only been there twice and each time did not want to leave. It's beautiful, the people are friendly and it has such a great history. I loved being able to walk from the north to the south or east to the west in one day. After jersey,I would say somewhere in the West Country, probably Cornwall. Again,I've only been there twice but I fell in love with its wild beauty.

Janey50 · 28/04/2017 16:44

Meant to say,Methagisy in Cornwall was probably my favourite place there.

StiickEmUp · 28/04/2017 16:50

Brighton. And Blackpool.

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 28/04/2017 16:50

Isle of Skye.
Aldeburgh.
Wells-Next-the-Sea.
Orford Ness.

AgentCooper · 28/04/2017 16:54

Skye is amazing, one of the most beautiful places on earth. I love how when you're getting close to the bridge you start seeing signs warning you about feral goats!

Applecross up at the top of the Highlands is beautiful too.

Lindisfarne is great too, the feeling of getting cut off by the tide is magic.

Edinburgh great for food and generally being very picturesque and interesting.

The Ribble Valley for beautiful countryside and great food.

QueenofLouisiana · 28/04/2017 16:59

Lindisfarne
Robin Hoods Bay
Eyam
Isle of Bute

AmysTiara · 28/04/2017 17:03

Durdle Door
Mevagissey
New Quay in Wales
Vicars close in Wells

All gorgeous to see on holiday but no idea about living there.

ClarenceOddbody · 28/04/2017 17:07

Wild and beautiful North Cornwall. The Lizard. Snowdonia. Forest of Bowland (a hidden gem!).
