Link to last years thread LEGOLAND 2015 Thread

There are quite a few seasoned Legolanders on mumsnet, and we are all happy to answer questions. The basics are all covered in the first posts of last years thread, otherwise please ask again.

None of us work for or are associated in any way with Legoland. We are all local parents with annual passes.

Please add reviews good or bad to help others! This is a happy friendly thread, now running for the 4th year! Happy Legolanding!

crystalgal Dd is 5 but tall (120cm+) she much preferred it this year than last. Her favourite bit was the splash park but that'll be bit cold for you?

She loved the pirate show and also the Mia's ride but I think you have to be 120cm for that so depends if he's tall.

Other favourites

The squid ride
Driving school
Log flume (be prepare to get very wet)
Fire academy
Dragon ride which comes out the castle - again I'm not sure on the height limit for that.

Thanks. After the insane heat wave can't believe it's going to rain when we go. But hopefully enough sun for some time in splash park. I know he will love it!

Thank you all for the brilliant tips. 12 of us there together yesterday & following the advice from this thread made it one of the best days ever.
The only small mistakes we made were not going to boating school/coastguard first thing, (we headed straight to Atlantis). We should have gone to coast guard & qbot reserved atlantis.
We bought 10 £20 qbots as advised & they made the whole experience brilliant on a busy, sunny, hot day! Although some of the rides on the map were marked qbot, we were unable to book? Do they only allow a certain number of rides to be qbot-able at one time? One of the regulars may know the answer.
The only customer services that gives wrist bands for those just borderline 90cm are at Heartlake city…it would have made life so much easier if we had sorted this as DS2 hated being measured with the big scary metal pole.
We took lots of drinks & picnic stuff & watched the lego friends performance at 12noon
DSIL had big suitcases which guest services stored for the day for NO CHARGE!!!
We arrived at the train station and jumped into a taxi £15 from Windsor to Legoland for 7+suitcases, much cheaper & less hassle than the bus

I am taking my 3 and 6 year old DS’s to Legoland soon – we have never been before. I have been reading the Legoland threads for hours and have taken on board so many tips- thank you. I do have a few questions though still (sorry if these are repeated).

  1. We are going on a Saturday in late September – is this likely to be a busy day, can anyone advise?

  2. My children are unlikely to want to do the bigger rides. Is it worth buying a q-bot if this is the case (I am thinking the smaller rides have shorter queues and so q bot may not be required)?

  3. I get the idea that ideally we should arrive early and leave when it closes, to take advantage of the quieter times for queueing. However, we are unlikely to manage a 8/9 hour day. Would you say it is better to arrive early (9.30am) and leave early, or arrive later in the morning but leave at closing time?

  4. Which car park is best for getting out with the least hassle at the end of the day? What advantage does the premium parking give? What is the worst time for getting stuck in leaving queues?

  5. I gather food is not good at the park, so we want eat after leaving, but will have tired hungry kids (and adults!), so need to eat soon after leaving the car park. Does anyone have any other suggestions other than Loch Fyne in Woodside? We are heading down towards Woking. Failing that, are there any places in the park that are not as bad as the rest (we cannot do pizza/pasta due to allergies)?

  6. I use a mobility scooter – will I be able to sit on my scooter in queues, or will I have to park up and stand in queues does anybody know?

Thanks for reading and for all the great information I have picked up from these threads so far!

Thinking about taking my 2DS (11 & 9) on inset day in oct, first time visitors so be gentle with me!!!
Have read lots of the previous threads that all have fantastic tips thank you!!! Just a couple of queries;

  1. do you need a qbot for each person or just for those going on the ride..?
  2. When booking on their site, for package in hotel and bogof entry, it won't let me add x2 car park tickets...I'm assuming would need one for each day..?
xx
gatorgolf · 01/09/2016 23:49

You need a qbot per person. What date are u going, if it's not half term u may not need. Are u staying at the Legoland hotel? If u are I don't think u pay for parking

QuackDuckQuack · 26/09/2016 11:57

We're planning to go on the Monday of October half term. I'm just trying to work out how to get our tickets (Tesco clubcard or Kellogg's adult goes free) and whether to get a QBot and, if so, whether to get a regular or express. Any thoughts?

mouldycheesefan · 04/10/2016 08:52

Regular qbot is fine.
It will be busy at half term.
If you use tesco does that mean that you don't have to pay anything whereas Kellogg's so buy one get one free so you still have to pay for two tickets?
Blue peter is another option, children free with paying adult. I have at other places used tesco and blue peter combined and not paid anything but that isn't how it is supposed to work!

We're off to legoland on Wednesday. So, so excited. It's not the sort of thing we generally do as a family and we wouldn't spend that much on a day out but thanks to a very generous friend we are going! We only have to pay for our overnight accommodation (we live 4.5 hours away).

Kids are 11 and 8. 8yo DD has complex medical needs and we have a letter from her consultant which should get us a ride access pass. DS is happy (I think, ask me again when he's seen it all) to just do the same rides as DD wants to so we can all benefit from the pass.

A few questions for those in the know:

  • we finally got rid of DDs pushchair earlier this year and I am now slightly regretting it - more because of the amount of extra stuff we need to carry than because of her needing it. I've noticed people say that you can leave buggies at the ride entrances while you go on the rides but what if we don't have one (I am trying to borrow)? If we have lots of bags is there somewhere we can leave them? I know there are lockers but it looks as though they will work out expensive if we need to keep going back to get things, which we might (medical stuff etc).
  • does anyone who's used a Ride Access Pass know what identification they need to issue it? We've got the consultant's letter but the website says they also need photo id - is that for me or for DD? She doesn't have a passport or anything so we've no id for her. (I've emailed them but I don't think I'll hear back in time)
  • am I right in thinking that things like the splash safari will be closed for the winter? So we don't need to bring actual swimming stuff, just changes of clothes for after the wet rides?

It's very short notice and we've not done anything like it before really so I'm being a bit military about it in terms of planning.

youarenotkiddingme · 24/10/2016 15:49

Freezer Legoland is quite hilly but you can use the land train as much as you like with queue pass and it doesn't take one of your 10 passes.
You can also hire the plastic wheeled things - a double is a good size for a child and my Ds (asd) used one until he was 10. He could hide with blanket and ear defenders. The Cars don't go on the land train though. It's hilly back up so if with a group one person walk and meet others at top.

The ride access passes can be got from guest services at top but queue can be long on busy days. There is another services in heartlake city you can get pass from that is usually quieter if you go first thing.

The access passes are the same as q bot (just free!). Queues ime are usually 10-20 minutes long.

I'm going with Ds (now 12) tomorrow and we are renewing our passes to do another year.

youarenotkiddingme · 24/10/2016 15:50

For Ds I take dla forms and reports from consultants/dx letter etc.
I don't have any photo ID for Ds.

SeaLionsOnMyShirt · 30/10/2016 10:45

Quick question - do you think that LL will be even more stupidly busy than usual on Sat 5th Nov for the fireworks? We've never been before (but I'm avidly reading these threads for tips, thank you!) so I am concerned that it would be too much for our first visit with DS (5) when we don't really know where we're going or what to do to make the best out of our visit!

superoz · 03/11/2016 09:59

Has anyone been to the Christmas event days? Thinking about taking dd for her birthday in December but not sure how many rides are open and what it'll be like in the cold weather.

2014newme · 03/11/2016 10:02

I have heard it can take a long time to get out the car Park after the fireworks

angea09 · 23/02/2017 16:56

When is the 2017 thread starting?!
I would like some advice - husbands job makes it very difficult to get leave. We have to choose between going once weekend in June or a Tues & Wed in our Easter holidays. Its the second week of the Easter hols here but about half the country are back in school and half aren't. I'm after the quietest two days as my little ones (5 and 2) will not be patient enough to queue for long.
Thanks!
