I thought I'd start a new thread as number 2 is nearly full.

We haven't got ours booked yet. But we are planning on going August 2016. DH and I both turn 30 in the next 11 months so it's like a big birthday holiday.

Sounds brilliant Dog. Tell me about the memories thing. It was something I noticed last year but didn't do anything about.

Really tempted to get wristbands this time, how did you get yours?

Ordering our park tickets this weekend - eek Grin

ShiftyFades · 25/06/2015 09:02

Bacon, we go on tues 11th Aug, what day are you flying?

BloodyDogHairs · 25/06/2015 09:28

The Memory Maker is basically every photo you have taken in the Disney parks are yours...including ride-on photo's. If you have magic bands you also get clips of you on Tower of Terror and Mine Train. I bought my bands at the park and the cashier linked everything up for me and my family, it was so convenient not searching around for cards all the time.

The Memory Maker costs $169 if you buy before you go or $199 once you are there. There were loads of Disney photographers around every park including water parks.

ShiftyFades · 25/06/2015 09:50

And that gives you the rights to be able to just print them off? And is linked to your bands as well?

BloodyDogHairs · 25/06/2015 10:03

Yes they are yours to keep, you get a month to download/print/copy to disk from the last photo taken. All linked to band too so for photos the photographer scans the band but on-ride photos it links automatically if you have the band.

BloodyDogHairs · 25/06/2015 10:07

It will also be linked to whoever is included in your "MyDisneyExperience" app.

ShiftyFades · 25/06/2015 10:41

Brilliant,I've got that app. As this is a unique, whole family holiday, it might be worth the money.

BloodyDogHairs · 25/06/2015 10:47

Totally worth the money, once you see how many photos/video's/magic shots you can get in one day it makes sense and it means everyone just needs to look at the one camera...also no blurry pics.

One thing I will say is take a note of FP times as a few times in the parks the app played up. Either it wouldnt connect or it showed us all booked on the same ride when I had only selected certain members as we were doing childswap.

ShiftyFades · 25/06/2015 11:12

Ok brilliant, thank you.

Fast Passes- is it30 days before we travel that we can book?

And once it's 30 days from the first day, can I book the whole 2 weeks or do we need to log on each day for 2 two weeks and book for that day - each one 30 days ahead?

LeBoob · 25/06/2015 11:30

Has anyone booked to stay on site at disney with orlando attractions? They've quoted us £175 cheaper than disney for the exact same package. Even though they are ABTA protected & I'll be paying the deposit in a credit card for additional protection, I'm still wary. Any advice much appreciated

BloodyDogHairs · 25/06/2015 12:33

You need to book everyday from the 30 day mark, I booked some even if I wasn't planning on doing a park that day just incase my plans changed.

BloodyDogHairs · 25/06/2015 12:48

so each one 30 days ahead.

ShiftyFades · 25/06/2015 14:01

Thanks Dog. Going to make a park plan soon. Will book every day regardless as plans easily change.

Need a family conference Smile

StrawberrytallCake · 25/06/2015 15:35

I've booked a FP for talking Mickey too, didn't even know that existed before I started booking FP.

3 days to go - hair & nails done, packing not so much.

BloodyDogHairs · 25/06/2015 16:10

Talking Mickey is the best!!

Have you got good flight times strawberry?

velvetelvis · 25/06/2015 17:35

LeBoob I used Orlando Attractions for my tickets last year and had no problems. We didn't book hotels with them though. I called them to ask a couple of questions and they were really helpful. They have UK office and phone number so at least they are easy to get hold of!

Zigazigaah · 25/06/2015 17:59

Hello everyone!

DH and I (no kids, yet!) are planning a trip to the USA in early December. We are planning 4 nights in Orlando with a day at DisneyLand (although I've only found minimum 2 day passes?!) and a day at Universal Studios.

We're very early days into planning so I would be grateful for any tips and advice. Any hotel recommendations? Do one day tickets to the parks exist? Will we need to hire a car?

velvetelvis · 25/06/2015 18:14

Hi Ziga
You can buy a one day pass from the US disney website, the price will be in dollars. It doesn't work out any cheaper than buying it at the park gates, but it means you can link it to your disney experience and book your fast passes ahead of time.
There are 2 different priced tickets, 1 for Magic Kingdom, which is a little more expensive, and 1 for either EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom which are a little cheaper.
Do you know which park you want to go to?

Zigazigaah · 25/06/2015 18:30

Thanks Velvet! Magic Kingdom I think - that strikes me as the most suitable for thrill-seeking grown-ups?

velvetelvis · 25/06/2015 18:37

Yeah I would say MK is the best choice for a 1 day trip. So much to see and do Smile

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 25/06/2015 19:02

What the heck is Talking Mickey?!

Ziga, you can buy 1 or 2 day tickets from Undercover Tourist. If you do buy from Disney direct, make sure that you are booking for DisneyWorld, not DisneyLand!! :)

Re. Universal, is there no way you can do 2 days? There are actually 2 Universal parks (both unmissable imo) and there's no way you could do them both in one day.

BloodyDogHairs · 25/06/2015 19:44

Talking Mickey is in Town Square....and he talks to you. My 2 little dc's were slightly shy so we played "choo choo trains" it was flipping amazing! I tried to FP him for another day but could never get a slot.

Zigazigaah · 25/06/2015 20:12

Lucas - thank you. Silly me - I don't want to go to the wrong place!!
Could maybe stretch to 2 days at universal. We are doing a twin centre holiday with New York, but our itinerary is flexible!
Any hotel recommendations?

StrawberrytallCake · 25/06/2015 21:12

BA2037 Dog leaving at 11.30 and we get in at around 3.30 in the afternoon - I think behind a virgin flight from manchester and possibly another one so really not looking forward to security.

I tried the carrier for the 2yo and now my back hurts a lot.

velvet I agree - MK

Zig - we're staying at the Gansevoort in the meatpacking district for our one night NY stay, stayed at the Park Avenue Gansevoort last time and it is quite nice, really clean and big enough rooms. The meatpacking district has some brilliant bars and restaurants in (we're going to Catch which is opposite) they both also have rooftop pools which is useful. Have you got NY plans yet?

BloodyDogHairs · 25/06/2015 21:33

My dd was a nightmare for going in her buggy so she spent 80% of the time on my hip, the double buggy I took was a pure waste of time. The cool bag spent more time in the seat than my 2 dc's Confused

I hope you've packed some clothes today Grin does your dd's know yet about going to florida?
