Well, OK, I know why; it's because the larger properties have to be outside of any built up area for the space, and in practice it usually means properties off out in the countryside.

But surely there must be a villa with a pool, somewhere in hot bits of Europe, where I wouldn't have to drive to get the bread and we could walk back from having a nice dinner with lovely wine, eh?

Please help if you know of any, because I feel like I've looked at every single villa in Europe and I'm going villa blind.

(it's for next summer btw and needs to sleep at least 8)

Had a lovely time here supermarket across the road. Old town a walk or 3 euro in taxi. Restaurants nearby too, but old town fab

Try Kalkan in Turkey - full of large villas, at least 50% within 10 min walk of centre.

Ocho · 22/04/2015 15:00

ooh brilliant, some replies! I'm off to have a look...

I came on here to say Kalkan!- we went for this exact reason and are going back this summer. First time I have ever gone back to the same place for a hholiday.

We are going here again this summer. It is five minutes from the centre of Carvoeiro so we don't need a car.

www.mamfredasresort.gr Very central in Tsilivi, Zante. Plenty of restaurants, supermarkets close by. Not the best beach but you have your own pool. I would definitely go back.

Depends how much you want to spend!! Loads in The Balearics, check out Owners Direct. And let me know if you find any cheap two bedroom villas with pools!

weebarra · 27/04/2015 09:06

Try C'an Mos in Pollenca. On phone so can't link, but we've stayed there about 5 times. It's a twenty minute walk into the main square but only about 5/10 from the nearest supermarket and bread shop.

ElizabethHoover · 27/04/2015 09:19

go to Turkey

ElizabethHoover · 27/04/2015 09:19

Dalyan

FauxFox · 27/04/2015 16:05

Spain 10-15min walk to restaurant/bakery
south of france walking distance to restaurant

You can search that site on location and pick town so that might give you a few more options?

Ocho · 29/04/2015 16:31

OK, these are great

Looks like there's plenty of affordable options in Kalkan.

Try Nerja. Loads of villas two minutes from the centre and masses of authentic spanish bars and restaurants.

Ocho · 29/04/2015 22:29

Nerja, brill!

It's really helping having suggestions of areas to search in.

((www.villavida.co.uk/casa-sant-jordi-townhouse-pollensa-pool-garden/)) sorry can never do the link bit

Ocho · 29/04/2015 22:49

OK, noted re Punta Prima Grin

We were looking at Pollensa originally as it seems the kind of place that would have the tourism infrastructure that I guess we're after.
