My mum rang yesterday about a good deal.

For dh, me and 2 kids it £540. That's for Eurostar, 3 nights at hotel in Disney and 4 day passes into the park.

It's £270 each adult and kids go free.

My mum and mil are going too and they get a grandparent discount.

So Disney here we come January 2007

Just think it's the right time as my ds will have just turned 9 and dd is 7.

we are going next may - not booked yet - taking 3.6 yr old and 1.9 yr old - any advice or recommendations ???

MissyBabee · 24/10/2006 20:48

great! you will have a great time!

i went to the orlando one with family & SIL kids a couple of years ago and it was brill.

tips: get there early in the morning before everyone else get there - you can go on all the rides without massive queues.

change some money for disney money that you can spend in the shops. the kids will love the mickey mouse money.

and: join in the fun & become a big kid!

i'll have a think but there are whole books on all the different things you can do at disney and the hidden mickeys and so on. it's what you make of it.

buktus · 24/10/2006 21:13

i would recomment staying in the best hotel you can afford especially with little ones, you dont have shuttles to get on, you can go back to the hotel for a swim miday if the park gets quite busy or too warm, def do a character dinner, with young ones, it saves waiting to see the characters as well so your time can be used for doing the park rather than having your stood waiting for their pic to be taken,

if you stay in one of the disney hotels you get a fsatpass for the busiest rides so you get an allocated time slot to come back to it. Dont miss the parades they are really good especially the one in main street disney.

Rainforest cafe is a must, my kids love it there, at breakfast i always take extra rolls for the day or to feed the ducks on the way to the park.

If you drive there is a really good shopping centre from 2 minutes from the park, to stock up on snacks - oh and the shopping mall is full of vertbaudet shops, really cheap, i always drive there when the kids have gone to sleep with dh, as it doesnt shut until late.

if you stay in a disnet hotel opt to have the fanatasyland breakfast which starts an hour before the park opens, we did a lot of fanatsyland then without any queues, it is free just a perk for staying at one of those hotels

Skribble · 25/10/2006 09:29

Sorry to contradict Butkis, but I wouldn't worry to much about which hotel you are in (perhaps with younger ones) as you are never it it. If you are only there for 3 nights on a first visit you will spend the whole time in the park. Never even saw the hotel pool .

Making extra rolls up at breakfast seems to be popular lots of fumbling under the table and buggies being filled .

Jan will be baltic but if midweek in Jan queues won't be to long so not as much standing around.

I didn't think fastpass was restricted to hotel guests, anyone can use it.

Mum and MIL will they be in the one room? Are they freinds ????

Advice for those with younger ones, there are buggies you can hire, requires a credit card deposit and they don't recline. A lightweight bike chain might be useful for either disney buggies (as all the buggies are the same) or your own, I worried about losing my deposit.

buktus · 25/10/2006 12:26

its up to you whether you want a long walk or a busy shuttle ride with buggy and kids etc, that doesnt sound like fun to me, i agree you dont spend much time in the hotel but being a bit closer has to be a bonus it is with three under 4

buktus · 25/10/2006 12:27

their buggies arent good by the way very much like shopping trolleys, the only good thing is an older child can stand on the back

ssd · 25/10/2006 12:33

how long are you taking your kids out of school for?

I'd love to take mine to DL but don't want to take them out of school. Can't get my head round that one.

buktus · 25/10/2006 12:54

mine have four days off as the fifth day is the bank holiday, four days isnt a lot as most people have two weeks off at their school

ssd · 25/10/2006 17:10

do you mean most people have 2 weeks off school during term time? for a holiday.
surely not!

buktus · 25/10/2006 19:43

yes during term time, is that to you

YG ~ I'll ask my mum who she booked with.

We are staying at the Sante Fe hotel, which is the cheapest. Seems fine though and we can access all of the other hotels. Price includes breakfast too!

Really not fussed about going term time. Never do it, always on time to school and whole family deserve a break.

Now realistically how much spending money will we need for 4 of us?
