Travelling around Europe would be nice, by train perhaps.

expatinscotland · 26/07/2006 15:19

somewhere on the other side of the equator that was actually having a winter during that time.

crazydazy · 26/07/2006 15:19

I fancy America too.

Carmenere · 26/07/2006 15:22

Singapore, New Zealand, Austrailia, Hongkong and Japan. No I have never thought about this one before

expatinscotland · 26/07/2006 15:22

my parents went to japan and singapore and hong kong in summer.

once.

if you think it's hot here . . .

Carmenere · 26/07/2006 15:24

Oh yes the heat would be miserable, I'm hoping to get over that part of the world early next year, hopefully wont be too bad then.

I second saadia, Europe by train. many european city have lots to give to children, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen (with the lovely Andersen museum), Athens (if you want to brave the heat), to name a few.

mrsbang · 26/07/2006 15:29

New Zealand and/or Australia.

franca70 · 26/07/2006 15:30

further away, then I think Canada, is safe and with a great mixture of adventure and city life! (never been , but it's been on my wish list for a long time

Bozza · 26/07/2006 15:32

If you went to America you could also include Canada and Mexico which I think would be brilliant.

Mercy · 26/07/2006 15:33

Don't forget June-August is winter in Australia & NZ

fairyjay · 26/07/2006 15:36

With you Carmenere - I'd be off like a shot!

No I think if you have the opportunity go for it.

katierocket · 26/07/2006 15:39

Good thing about USA is there are so many different parts to see. The coast road between LA and San Fransisco is gorgeous, New MExico really interesting, could go on and on.
New Zealand is fantastic but will be winter.

Europe a good idea - great way to see different cultures.

I am VERY

katierocket · 26/07/2006 15:40

And no I don't think you'd be crazy.

katierocket · 26/07/2006 15:41

The only thing about Europe is you might get fed up traipsing round cities in the summer heat. So would need to factor in some non city stuff.

The US would be quite hot then, well, bits of it would be. I'd do a cross-Canada trip, maybe mostly by train? Do a week in Newfoundland, a few days in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, a few days in Quebec City, a week in Montreal, a few days in Ottawa, a week in Toronto, some time in the Niagara Escarpment, a bit of time in Winnipeg (go up to Gimli etc), some time in Saskatoon, lots of time in the rockies, and some time in Vancouver and Victoria.

Hmm, only west to east would be wiser, for better jetlag ...

ooh how lovely. Japan and Thailand are both fantastic and so child-friendly. Japan is OK in June but gets very hot and humid during July and August. Thailand is also hot and humid, but you do acclimatise quite quickly. If I had 7 weeks I would probably do something like Darjeeling, Phuket, Hong Kong, Fiji, Sydney, Auckland, Bali, home.
