And one last thing for anyone who doesn't already know - if you are going to Disney and will have your tickets beforehand then set yourself up a My Disney Experience account and book your FastPasses in advance (30 days before you go if staying offsite). It will save you SO much queueing time and make it a much better experience. You can book FastPasses in the parks but your choice will be reduced then and the queues to use the FP machines can be quite long. You don't want to waste half an hour queueing just to book a ride when you can do it in minutes online :)

Thanks lucas so my thinking is to go to HHN on hopefully Thursday the 1st oct.
We've decided we dont want to stay in the RPR on that night as want to make the most of the hotel pool and parks on the night we stay. So want a non HHN night.

I can't work out wether it's likely MNSSHP will be on thurs 24th or tues 29th?

So if MNSSHP is on the thurs 24th we'll be fine to stay at RPR on Monday 28th IYSWIM??

We don't want to do MNSSHP on the weekend.

What do you think? Hmm

SlightlyJadedJack · 22/01/2015 12:01

Thanks Lucas, I also got your letter today so am currently hiding it in case I leave it lying around and spoil the big reveal!!

I'm wondering if I need to book the Disney day now so I can do the fast passes here and not stress about it when we're there.

What is MNSSHP please?

ChestyTheSnowman · 22/01/2015 12:05

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party.

I'd book the ticket now if you can afford to, adds to the excitement Grin
I'm sit waiting for the post Man everyday as recently booked ours Grin

Canshopwillshop · 22/01/2015 13:13

Lucas - thanks for taking the time to post all that info - really helpful Flowers. I will have a chat to DH.

We haven't told our DC yet but I want to soon. Has everyone done something special when revealing or just simply told them?

ChestyTheSnowman · 22/01/2015 13:22

There's s thread on the Dibb in Florida trip planning about reveals and a few videos. I love watching them Smile

ChestyTheSnowman · 22/01/2015 13:39

can there's a famous five combo ticket that has 14 days unlimited access to universal, sea world, aquatica and Busch gardens for £207 adult and £193 child on Orlando attractions. I'm sure the other ticket places will have a similar deal.

It's all very confusing Grin

Canshopwillshop · 22/01/2015 15:11

Ooh thanks Chesty. That ticket sounds like a good deal.

ChestyTheSnowman · 22/01/2015 15:50

bacon what did you think to breaking bad? I couldn't get into it.

BaconAndAvocado · 22/01/2015 16:11

chesty we've just finished watching Series 2. I think it's very very good but as DS1 and DH think it's very very VERY good we have to watch it every nite so I'm feeling a little overstuffed with BB! A bit like with my Disney planning!

Have you seen it?

BaconAndAvocado · 22/01/2015 16:12

Love the idea of a reveal! We booked our holiday about a year ago so not sure if I would, have had the patience!

ChestyTheSnowman · 22/01/2015 16:14

DB bought me the full box set last Christmas Hmm
He watched it all and loved it but I watched s few episodes and couldn't get into it. Was disappointed as everyone raves about it.

If love to see your reveals if you do them and video Grin

BaconAndAvocado · 22/01/2015 16:39

Yes, I feel it's a little bit overrated too!

Maybe it's a boy thing?

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 22/01/2015 17:50

there's a famous five combo ticket that has 14 days unlimited access to universal, sea world, aquatica and Busch gardens for £207 adult

But the Universal ticket is only about £125 by itself and a Discovery Cove ticket which they'll have to buy separately comes with free entry to SeaWorld, Busch & Aquatica anyway, so that combo ticket is paying for stuff they'd be getting for free anyway.

Jack, yes, get your Disney ticket in advance (though I've no idea about how to get a 1 day ticket - not seen many places that sell them - will have a look for you). I'll book your FPs for you if you do :)

I'm just not sure about MNSSHP at all I'm afraid, Chesty :( HNN seem to follow a pattern each year but MNSSHP seems random. It does seem to be quite a few nights though so I'm sure you'll get a chance to do it.

Just booked our Universal hotel, yaaaaay! RPR for 2 nights. Gotta love those 'free' Express Passes!

LikeABadSethRogenMovie · 22/01/2015 17:58

Can I join in? I've just decided about 3 hours ago that we're going to go in 4 weeks time for half term. Anyone know a good site to get the best last minute deals?

ChestyTheSnowman · 22/01/2015 18:06

Oh yes, so it does lucas forgot the we're doing DC....sorry can

ChestyTheSnowman · 22/01/2015 18:08

youre

petitdonkey · 22/01/2015 18:15

Crikey!! You guys are hardcore and oh so knowledgeable!!

We went to Orlando last easter and I'm not sure we went about ticket buying the right way so if anyone has time to give me advice I would appreciate it as we are going again in April.

We are a family of 5.

Last year we bought a 2 day Disney park ticket - went to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom (wouldn't go there again) Think this was nearly $1000

We bought a 3 day Universal Pass as we stayed the second part of our holiday at The Portofino Bay. I want to say these were about $800

Both sets of tickets we bought on the gate.

We got free tickets to Blizzard Beach from my cousin who works there.

-

This year I only want to do one Disney day (magic kingdom purely for youngest DDs benefit) but I would love to be able to book fast pass in advance (I am not queuing 4 hours to see Anna and Elsa!!!) but don't think you can buy one day Disney from the UK but would love to know if you can.

Probably two water parks this time - Blizzard Beach again then should we do Typhoon Lagoon or Wet and Wild??

Another three maybe 4 days in Universal as we are staying at PB again. Think we will also go to Cape Canaveral.

Can anyone suggest what tickets we could buy in advance? I don't think you can buy one day Disney from the UK but would love to know if you can.

The tickets are just so incredibly expensive!!

BaconAndAvocado · 22/01/2015 19:22

Ohh I wish we'd decided to stay at a Universal hotel because I bet those Harry Potter queues are going to be mahoosively long.........

Can't help you with tickets petit as we've booked everything through Thomson.

Next time we might be a bit more a adventurous and book everything separately.

petitdonkey · 22/01/2015 19:37

Bacon - Last year the Universal Express Ticket applied to everything but the HP main ride. We got lucky on one evening though and only queued for 40 mins. Other than that it is such a great thing being able to bypass the lines but it made my DC totally go off Disney - they really only want to go to Universal this year!

BaconAndAvocado · 22/01/2015 21:02

Oh yes I'd forgotten that. Would first thing in the morning be a good time to tackle the HP rides?

Castlecellar · 22/01/2015 21:50

Does anyone know how long the tickets last for if I buy them from attraction tickets direct? We're hoping to go in March 2016, if I buy them now will they still be valid? Or do I have to state the dates that I will use them?
thank you

Canshopwillshop · 22/01/2015 22:14

Thanks for pointing that out Lucas - it is difficult trying to work out the best deals with so many options available!

ChestyTheSnowman · 22/01/2015 23:45

When we went Bacon we headed straight across the park to forbidden journey. Wait time was around 45 mins but by the time we'd made our way through the castle we weren't really just queueing for long. When we came out wait time was up to 120 mins Shock

castle I think some of the tickets relate to the year your going.

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 23/01/2015 08:08

Bacon, yes, first thing in the morning is definitely the best time to do HP rides - but we're talking properly early, ie. get there as soon as the park opens.

Donkey, never buy tickets on the gate unless it's your only option - prices are significantly higher. Also UKers get special offers that you can't get in the US and I think I'm right in saying that they're almsot always better value. I'm not sure if the prices you quote were per person or in total but to give you an idea, we'll be paying £125 per person for a 14 day Universal ticket and it's about £290 for a 7 or 14 day Disney. Don't forget that Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are also Disney parks so you'll need a Disney ticket for that. If you're only doing 3 Disney parks then have a look at the Magic Your Way tickets. I don't know how these prices compare and think these are only sold from the US but they may suit you better (not all Magic Your Way include water parks so you have to pick the right ones). Have a look at UnderCover Tourist's website - I'm not sure if they ship tickets to the UK but I've heard this place mentioned a lot for Magic Your Way tickets or 1/2/3 day tickets (you coudl have a look at this too, Jack!)

castle You dont have to say what days you'll be using the tickets - they are activated on the frist day you sue them. But I'm not sure if you can buy them that far ahead - call and ask, Attraction Tickets Direct are really helpful and knowledgable so they'd be able to tell you.

Seth (love your username!) wow, how exciting! I can't help with sites for deals I'm afraid as we always book flights, villas etc. individually and have never bought a package.
