It's a replacement one for ds who has outgrown his first one.
If I post it tommorrow how soon can I expect the passport?

usually within 2-3 weeks, but can be longer during busy times, i got ds;s passport back in 2 weeks.

It's about the only truly efficient service we have.
Ours took five working days, though they quoted more.

jasper, if you're really in a hurry you can go up to the Passport Office in Glasgow- it costs more, but we got dd's first passport in about 5 days.

I got my renewal back this week, exactly one week after I posted it off. I had it checked by the Post Office though, which (apparently) speeds things up - it cost about £7 for them to check it over though.

i think the check and send service do process them more quickly, so worth the money.

Have just been filling in the form.
Do I need to fill in the supplemental form?
Seems I have to send ds's birth certificate as well as his old passport - is this right?

Jasper - if you go to www.passport.gov, you can fill it all in online and the application checks it for you. Then they send you back the filled in form for you to sign and add docs to, and when they get that back they can process it v. quickly

Check and send at the post office is great. Got all 3 of mine back in about 7 days. Kids ones were new ones, dh's was renewal. WWB's right tho, costs £7 for each application. They check the photo and everything so there's no chance of it getting sent back to you. Definitely worth it I'd say.

Mine have just come back, took a week. larsxx

Domb question, but when you use the check and send service, do you wait there while they check it, or will they contact you if there is a problem?

Dumb.......even

waterfalls, you wait for the post office to check the passport, if it's wrong they will give you a new form to fill in if need be. larsxx

send & check is definitely worth it. dd's took less than a week (new not renewal).

The internet service is the same as check and send - but it's free.

Mine were the internet ones, but I will use the check and send as well, so they can check the photos, dont want to risk anything as we need them back for middle of May.

Report
hoxtonchick · 09/04/2006 16:54

the internet one doesn't check the photos. and our first lot got rejected as you couldn't see both dd's ears....

waterfalls go for the Post office. They are very strict. DH works in this field and the amount of rejections are enormous. Go for PO, well worth it. larsxx

Thanks I will, are they good though, are they guarenteed not to be rejected if you use the check and send service?
