Another vote for Arran and the Auchrannie- ideal if you want to relax

tamum · 20/03/2006 17:49

Agree that Auchrannie is lovely, but if you're still planning on Edinburgh then I wouldn't worry about the links from the airport- I do it all the time, it's fine. The bus is cheap and relaible but it's only about £15 by taxi to the centre, which is probably worth it for a family. There's an efficient taxi queuing system.

It's the Science Festival in Edinburgh around then, so worth looking at that- there will be loads for the 5 year old!

Oh, and if you are interested in Auchrannie I would book as soon as you can- I would imagine it would get booked up pretty quickly for Easter.

webmum · 20/03/2006 18:20

auchrannie looks great, but I think I prefer edinburgh, as there will be more variety of things to do, regardless of the weather!!

thanks tamum for the airport info

grumpy- Auchrannie's great as long as it's not pouring constantly. Mine are 11 and 7, and they love it- good swimming pool, a gym and sports hall, a small room with playstation-y things.

tamum · 20/03/2006 22:14

webmum, do you want something posh or would basic do? There's a Premier Travel Inn or something which I think does cots and so on.

webmum · 20/03/2006 22:25

Try \link{http://www.holiday-rentals.com/index.cfm/fa/find.textsearch?search_text=edinburgh&vl=exact&Go_text.x=17&Go_text.y=6\this website}. You book directly with the owner, I have used this site to book a week in London in the summer. HTH

sorry fimbo,

We ahve finally booked an appartament at Holyrood Aparthotel. Seems nice, They'll arrange a breakfast basket and airport pick up as well.

Booked flights as well adn I can't wait to go!!!
There's a Festival on Easter Sunday as well, with lots of things dd1 will love.

fimbo · 23/03/2006 14:19

Brilliant Webmum. Go to George Street (runs parallel behind Princes Street) for lots of lovely little boutiques.

webmum · 23/03/2006 20:35

hi fimbo, while we're on the subject, have you got any suggestions for family friendly restaurants where the adults can also enjoy a decent meal? (and avoiding the usual chains?)

thanks so much
