Help - Does anyone work at the Passport Office at Durham

Im at my wits end...I need to speak to Durham Passport office, I am going on holiday Saturday and my daughters passport renewal is stuck in a backlog at Durham. I will pay for accelerated service but can't get through to ask for it. The general phone number takes hours to be answered, the call back service doesn't work, the 48hr email reply service doesn't reply. Can I drive to Durham and sit and wait. I'm frantic to resolve this...but what can I do? Has anyone got any suggestions of what I can do....apart from cry? Does anyone work there and can tell me something I can DO

livi2014 · 24/05/2014 10:49

Yeh Hun I do have the barcode. Did u use check and send ?

l222net · 24/05/2014 11:31

I am trying to get through on the 0300 number but after about 10 minutes it automatically puts you through to receive an automatic callback but I never receive a callback! How would I know which office to try and contact direct? I notice a lot on this post mention Durham but is this for everyone? It's for my 2 year old son and we live in warrington if this makes a difference to which office?

Catman123 · 24/05/2014 12:15

Hi1222 yes it we'll be Durham it mad we live 6 hour from there how how son 1 is there we live 130min from Newport office but still seen it to Durham the office is now close to Tuesday so not much we can do as same I ring 0300 number and no one pick up or get bk but they r open to 5 today

l222net · 24/05/2014 12:35

Thank you, i'll keep trying and if still no callback i'll call Durham on tues morning. The online email is rubbish the reply I got a few days seemed to be a standard email with date they received and then standard completion dates and looks like they just change the date received for each person so wasn't saying where in the process it's up to.

I did my daughter's 3 years ago and was back in two weeks so really easy!

cbrunton · 24/05/2014 12:55

Hi guys, just to let you know that Durham phone number is open from 8am not 9am as the message says.

jamtoast12 · 24/05/2014 14:10

You can't just turn up at a passport office I'm afraid. I did that recently with liverpool, they'll have a quick chat then refer you to an area with free phones directing you to the 0300 number.

dazcheff · 24/05/2014 14:23

zipzap · 24/05/2014 14:52

mandy from reading several passport threads, the best thing to do in your situation is to get your MP involved. Unfortunately it's a bank holiday weekend which delays it a bit, but make contact with them as soon as you can!

Catman123 · 24/05/2014 14:52

Mandymoo87 hi your case is easy because it damaged one and not your 1st u can go to we're the office is and pay and one same day

TheThinksYouCanThink · 24/05/2014 15:15

Okay, well I have officially given up! I could cry!
We were supposed to fly on this Tuesday and I sent my daughters passport application 4 weeks ago, have spent 8 days trying to get through to someone who could tell me where it is but all I get is the 48hr callback and not a single person has rang me back yet.
So I am resigned, I have to either explain to my DS's that their much looked forward to holiday will have to be cancelled or I stay at home with my 8 month old daughter at home and send the ds's with dh ( which dh currently will not agree to!) now there is a choice nobody should have to make.

zipzap · 24/05/2014 15:20

thinks have you tried your MP yet? Might be too late now but worth sending them a message!

Catman123 · 24/05/2014 15:28

Hi thethinkucan there are still working today tom and Monday just go to office bang on door there got to do somethik

Tiredemma · 24/05/2014 15:41

Im just curious- lots of threads about this on here- but has anyone actually NOT had their passport returned back in time?

Most of the threads I have seen have people panic stricken (like I currently am) and then a joyous post of getting the passport with 48-24 hours to spare.

I dont think there are many (if at all) of people not getting an upgrade- even if it is close to the bone and within hours of travelling.

It does give me some hope.....

TheThinksYouCanThink · 24/05/2014 15:41

Had no answer from MP, zipzap
The problem is catman because nobody will talk to us, we have no idea where DD's passport is.
If they had contacted us in the first 3 days that we tried then we could have at least tried to upgrade the application.
I think they are ignoring us because they know there is nothing that can be done.

TheThinksYouCanThink · 24/05/2014 15:44

Hope so, Tired but bearing in mind it is a bank holiday and I have not managed to talk to a single person past the 0300 call centre, I am not holding out much hope!

Tiredemma · 24/05/2014 15:45

Hi-
Did you at any point ever get hold of anyone through the 0845 number?

MuttonCadet · 24/05/2014 15:45

My friend went and got his sons passport from Durham today, you can go in person.

Tiredemma · 24/05/2014 15:47
