Help - Passports renewal application stuck at Durham Passport Office and we are traveling this Friday

hi all,

I am desperate!!!

Passports sent via PO Check and Send on the 2nd July.
Called the IPS 0300 number over 60 times today - got through a dozen times.
Cant escalate - can't get transferred to Durham.
Cant talk to anyone.

I am crying and feeling sick as it will ruined the holidays for my twin girls, my son, my husband and my mum.

Can someone help or know someone from the Durham office help us!? We prepare to drive up from Bristol tomorrow to pick them up if need be :(

I had call from Durham today and they said my passports still in security checks and don't know how long the time limit is has to be patients, we submitted our 6 years daughters for passport renewal on 10 February 2014 and the Durham office said my daughters passport is with my application ,I don't understand why is my daughters is stuck with mine is not fair, if any one know how long is this security checks are? thanks

Iam just in exact same boat husband booked a holiday on the 28 this month and we appllied for my sons first passport on the 6th ,started to panick now phoned them on monday 0300 he said he will put note And i will get a call back in 24h the called me tuesday and they saying that it did reach the examination team tuesday morning its just about time to process it it can take long it can take less , iam soo stressed dont even sleep at night :( i have told her iam ready to pay anything to speed the process she goes there is nothing can be offered at this stage iam going to call again and see whats the updates

If I can help anyone, I was at my wits end yesterday, Had tried every number, held on, waited, been promised callbacks etc. Distraught, in tears I tried again this morning only to hit the same dead end wall. It is a damn disgrace.
I totally threw my dolly out of the pram this morning and emailed every office I could think of. Home Office, Theresa May, in fact left messages on her home constituency and the home office, my own MP etc.
I had a phone call back as i was loading my car to go to Durham and try to plead, and they informed me my passport was on its way. I had it at 2.30pm. 'They' were a very nice Gentleman from some MP's office who have to investigate issues of this kind. Please COMPLAIN as I did, threaten media exposure etc.
I was really at my wits end when this phone call came this morning, we fly Sunday so please give it your best shot!!! I got NO WHERE with the damn call centre!!

BTW, don't waste our time on any of the numbers... i got NO ANSWER despite trying for 3 days. Just go direct to the HOME OFFICE. Email Theresa May direct and they will send your email to another help centre. I couldn't believe after days of head banging and crying I got somewhere!!!

OH, and sorry, but I feel I have to let everyone know my story.... do not let them send you to the bottom of the 48 hours again! My issue apparently was escalated.... but in being 'escalated' went back 48 hours in the queue!! I politely have communicated this with the passport office. (!)

Experiencing identical problems with application logged onto system atDurham on Feb 8th although we sent 11 days earlier. Now 10 weeks on we are still waiting for it to be processed though it clearly states that first passport should be returned within 6 weeks. Been ringing for last 3 weeks with no success always the same reply that there will be an update in 48 hours....then nothing happens. Resorted today to emailing Minister for Immigration James Brokenshire [email protected] and then rang his secretary, Holly 020 7035 6767 who actually listened and said she'd contact Durham this afternoon. Had officious phonecall from supervisor at Durham named Dawn 01913707289 who was less than helpful and said we just had to wait and that we'd get an update in 48 hours. We had a frank exchange but it's obvious she's well-versed in deflecting complaints rather than actually making a difference. Little hope of passport arriving for next Weds trip. We should all get on Twitter and air our concerns re Durham Passport office and start making a real fuss. :(

Update since yesterday...the wonderful Polly (not Holly) intervened on our behalf and the passport has been processed! Shame it has to come to this for Durham to do their job efficiently....but pleasing that contacting MPs and getting them onside has the desired effect.

Passport office have had my passport for over 6 weeks no one is willing to help me after 2 weeks of e-mails (9 emails in the thread) and I get an email this morning asking me for my full name. Its a joke I live abroad my life is on hold waiting for someone to get back to me I phoned the home office and they hung up on me. Really desperate now no where to live no money no credit on my phone and my plane ticket expires in a few days time. If I get any joy I will post and give others useful information

If anyone finds themselves in this position e-mail your problem to your local MP; apparently they can't do anything regarding your application unless they have written authority from you. An e-mail is classed as authority. Give the MP all the details, this is what I did on Friday and by Monday evening he rang me to say my passport was printed last Friday and I should receive it by Tuesday. Best of luck everyone its an awful situation to be in.

I am in a particularly difficult situation and keep getting told that I will receive a call back in 72 hours, they have failed to do so the last couple of times. I need my passport to get married. Does anybody have a direct number for them they can message me? So stessful!

We used a Passport Renewal agent, they offer same day or 5 day passport renewals and deliver back by courier. They charged extra for the service but we all got to go away together. If you're desperate call them www.passportrenewal-office.co.uk 02073512624

they do not even make it clear how much they charge for their services
