Help - Passports renewal application stuck at Durham Passport Office and we are traveling this Friday

hi all,

I am desperate!!!

Passports sent via PO Check and Send on the 2nd July.
Called the IPS 0300 number over 60 times today - got through a dozen times.
Cant escalate - can't get transferred to Durham.
Cant talk to anyone.

I am crying and feeling sick as it will ruined the holidays for my twin girls, my son, my husband and my mum.

Can someone help or know someone from the Durham office help us!? We prepare to drive up from Bristol tomorrow to pick them up if need be :(

just spoke to durham who have said that i have to ring tomorrow morning to check if it has been scanned on the system -i think ill ring tonight!the guy has told me not to worry the passport will be sorted before we fly and that if i pay the upgrade fee they can authorise to print it in the office!!!! fingers crossed

thanks, just rang the numbers, first is busy, second is "temporarily out of order" so i'll keep trying to first!

That's good news gemmay1 they can be so helpful if you get the right person, I know you won't relax until you have it but all sounds good :)

Have to say a massive thank you to Beyondstressed. Yesterday I was in bits as passports not been processed but thanks to your help they should be with me by tomorrow. After being promised a phone call today I received a call at 7.50am this morning asking for payment to upgrade application. I was on the phone less than 5 mins and was told courier would pick them up thus afternoon and they will be with us tomorrow. Still wont completely relax til they're in my hands but oh my god what a difference a day makes! Thank you to everyone on here it made me realise miracles can happen! X

Just got through, lovely woman is calling us back regarding an upgrade! Thanks so much for the number, from what I hear this is when things get rolling, though wont feel 100% right until we actually have passports!

Does anyone have any experience with arranging passport interviews at Durham? My partner has been trying to get his first passport and keeps having his appointment pushed back,,we've been trying since before Christmas! So far since July they've pushed it back by 4 weeks then another 4 and now 2... It's never ending.

Has anyone tried getting appointments direct with the Durham office? Would they give one rather than that stupid, useless, waste of time "advice line".

I emailled my local Mp,Theresa may and the home office email and all of a sudden the guy dealing with the passport has just rang to say that all he needs is the original countersignature to ring with his ADI number (as he a driving instrutor) and once they guy had spoken to them he will issue the passport today so should have it on friday!! my advice is to pester the life out of them as he did mention the numerous emails he had and internal email! lol

apparently if the childs first passport was issued before they were two then when they have a renewal they have to check the countersignature as the child changed so much? thats what they guy just said!

Thanks to beyonestressed and mrsslickback... got through to Peterborough and found out my passport is at Liverpool...spoke to Liverpool they are going to call back regarding upgrade...

Still not sure until something actually happens...but thanks a lot. Any idea how long the call back takes and if they leave a message just scared in case they call and am unable to get to the phone!

Just got a call back from Liverpool...they took payment...so fingers crossed until it comes in....

Can anybody help me? Need to know Durham Passport office telephone number as my passport is stuck in the system and I am supposed to be going on family holiday on Monday. So stressed at the moment - it's untrue! Contacted IPS several times but keep getting different messages. They are telling me that it's a three week wait before passports are even looked at and as I sent my passport via check and send on 2nd August it was highly unlikely that I will be travelling next week. Cannot believe customer service!! Very worried. Just need to speak to somebody at Durham.

Hi can you help? I am so stressed at the moment it's untrue. Need to speak to Durham and cannot find number anywhere. Supposed to be going on holiday on Monday and my passport is stuck in the system and has been since 2nd August. Very unhelpful lady from IPS told me yesterday that it was highly unlikely that I was going on holiday. However, a nice gentleman later in the day tried to put me through to Durham and as he couldn't sent them an e-mail requesting that somebody calls me within 48 hours. Rang central number again this morning and was told to ring again tmrw and they would try and put me through but that's as much as they can do.......
