Help - Passports renewal application stuck at Durham Passport Office and we are traveling this Friday

hi all,

I am desperate!!!

Passports sent via PO Check and Send on the 2nd July.
Called the IPS 0300 number over 60 times today - got through a dozen times.
Cant escalate - can't get transferred to Durham.
Cant talk to anyone.

I am crying and feeling sick as it will ruined the holidays for my twin girls, my son, my husband and my mum.

Can someone help or know someone from the Durham office help us!? We prepare to drive up from Bristol tomorrow to pick them up if need be :(

Some good news here

Came home today to find delivery cards for all the Starshaped family passports. Have arranged for them to be delivered later this week.

I'm completely amazed- only earlier this week the IPS helpline told me they had no record of one of the applications and then said they had them both but that they hadn't been looked at I'd been planning to ring Durham or Liverpool on Monday to try and get things moving.

We sent the passports off by check and send on 23 July btw. Good luck to everybody who is still waiting.

please can someone help me, ive been waiting for my passport for 5 weeks and i go away next friday and still not had a interveiw as its my first passport.i have rang and emailed but all i get is its being procced in durham please what can i do

Quick update, i've just got off the phone with Peterborough to be told my daughters passports were issued Friday and that i should receive them today or tomorrow. Yay.

Until there in my hands i will still feel a little sick.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can someone send me the Durham direct number? Having no luck with 0300 and we leave on the 23rd! Thanks

mine came

both DHs renewal and DSs 1st childs passport

They would have had them 3 weeks tomorrow. I rang the 0300 number on Thursday and was told they were waiting to be examined and to call back Tuesday

No need as it turns out. I am delighted.

I have got everything crosed that this means they are getting through the backlog and everyone else will start getting thiers too

Thank you so much foxtrotyankee, we fly to USA on Saturday (18th), sent off husband's passport for renewal on 24/07/12, why he left it so long I do not know but heyho, has not yet arrived. Was having no luck with Advice Helpline, usual of they couldn't get through, arrange callback, could take up to 48 hours, couldn't find the Durham office number anywhere until I saw your blog! Passport printed today, have said delivery within 2 working days, but will be no one there to sign, hopefully courier will just post through letter box which they say they usually do, only need signature if shared letterbox like block flats. Fingers crossed!

Hi - am also having the stress of trying to get through to the peterborough passport office now for 4 days and I'm due to fly out on thursday with the children!!! Arrrrrrhhhhhh!! I've asked for a call back on numerous occasions now and no reply!!!!!!
Please please please Backamaw may I have the number for peterbourgh office - am pulling my hair out in chunks! Would be so grateful

My second counter signer has received the letter today :) she is going to fax it and post it in the morning, does any one know how long the process is after that? thanks x

please help!passport sent on 18th july for me n hubby just renewals,recieved 20th n been with the examiner from 23rd!!! rang all weekend the 0300 what a waste of time, rang direct line at durham today n its still with the examiner!!! gettin stressed now its the only break i get from looking after my disabled daughter! i live 3 miles from durham office thats wharts annoying me

@stargirl40 My husband received the call back in 3 hours after faxing and said the fax was approved and his passport was sent to print.
Today my husband just called Durham about delivery the officer said it shoud delivery today. Finger crossed.

Excellent so hopefully wont be too long, fingers crossed yours comes today I think when mine is eventually delivered i am going to kiss the courier haha :)

contacted my mp by e mail apparently its out og her hands n cannot do anything!

I think you will be fine Kistyboo as you don't travel until 31st, when it gets close to your flying date Durham are very helpful and will doall they can to make sure you get it on time x

In passport hell! Did check and send on 27th July - we leave on Saturday 18th and have been told they are due to be printed on Monday 20th! If anyone has the direct Peterborough number I'd be really grateful

well they were really nice at durham, she said that because the old passport were damaged that they had to get old files,(not sure why it wouldnt be on their computer) but that did not get sorted till yesterday and will be another couple of days till they arrive which is more than what ips told me hopefully when i ring again saturday i will be able to pay for it fast tracking or even better it will be sent out. FINGERS CROSSED

just spoke to someone on direct number and passport bein printed today! not holding my breath thou! wont let me check on my hubbys and e works away hes home friday so will get him to ring them but with abit of luck (SUMMAT I DONT HAVE LATELY) is will come in the post! fingers crossed! will keep u updated

Aaaaaargh! This is misery. Kids passports sent via post office on the 25th of July. Both were being examined on the 31st. We fly out on the 23rd of August. Have spoken to 0330 number countless times asking to be put through to Peterborough but always engaged. They have requested a call back but that can take 48 hours plus!!!! Could I also ask anyone who has the direct Peterborough number to pass it on to me
