McDonalds prices in Disneyland Paris?

Hi, I've looked at the online prices for other restaurants and some are quite expensive so I filtered the search to under 15 euros and Mcdonalds was on the list. What are the average prices for adult/kids meals please? I want to try to be sensible and keep costs low so will be taking my own snacks and drinks etc but will obviously have to eat out for tea. Also we get there on Thursday night so can't go into the park until Friday, is there anywhere near the Sequioa Lodge in walking distance that we could go to for food? Any help much appreciated.

Hi,
The Sequoia Lodge is one of the three Disney hotels around the lake, and very close to the Village with shops and restaurants including McDonalds, and also Earl Of Sandwich which is a new counter service restaurant by the lake opposite Cafe Mickey, with reasonable prices.

www.dlrpmagic.com/planning/dining/restaurant-menus/earl-of-sandwich/

There is also the Sports Bar ( where I believe they do very nice chips )

www.dlrpmagic.com/planning/dining/restaurant-menus/sports-bar/

Billy Bobs Country & Western Saloon also do bar snacks, and often have live music in the evenings. main course, dessert and a drink costs ? 11.95

I have never eaten in McDonalds there, but posters on the TA Disneyland Paris / Marne La Vallee forum have said that prices are similar to the UK.

New York Style Sandwiches was closed for refurb earlier this month, but I believe it is now open again.

Map of the Disney Village. Sequoia Lodge is on the long side of the lake facing the Village, so you only have to walk from there past the Hotel New York to the Village entrance - just a few mins. Restaurants in the Village stay open until very late at night and sometimes into the early hours.

All these restaurants are in the Village, so you can check their menus and prices.

I think the adult meals are about 10 euro, and the kids are about 5?

All of the restaurants are listed here, the ones that are in the village will be open until late

Hunters Grill is a buffet restuarant in your hotel, and gets good reviews. Its 28 euro for adults and 13 for kids.

The link above has all the meus and prices

When you walk or bus to the parks, you pass Chessy railway station. There is a shop in here selling sandwiches, snacks and drinks cheaper than in the parks.
You can't take glass bottles in though.( nor alcohol! )

If you fill one small bottle with neat squash and take another empty bottle or plastic beakers for kids, you can make up squash during the day using the drinking water fountains in both parks ( usually located near restrooms ).

You don't need to buy drinking water, the fountains are safe. We usually fill our bottles with water before leaving the parks so we have water for overnight, as I would not want to try the tap water in the rooms just in case.

If you take a baby's bottle with you, the hotel bar will fill this with milk free of charge, but it does taste different to ours!

If you buy drinks or food/ snacks in the parks, check your receipt - it usually offers another free drink in the afternoon, after 3pm. Buy items separately to get more receipts, so you all get a free drink.

onceagain · 31/10/2011 14:28

the macdonalds is not inside the park but outside (close to the entrance). Depending where you are within the park at lunchtime it can be a hassle to get out to go to the McDonalds so you need to plan well.
MacDonalds is definitely much cheaper than other options in the park and is not much more expensive than a normal MacD in the UK, plus they sell alcohol!
Definitely buy sandwiches and drinks outside of the park - the prices inside are extortionate!
Hope you have a great trip!

poorbuthappy · 31/10/2011 14:30

Although I will say that the best place to eat is at the shopping centre over the road from dlp.
We ate there every day last year (apart from the obligatory cafe mickey visit) and saved ourselves a fortune.
Just a though Wink
Have a good one, I am very Envy.

Figgygirl · 31/10/2011 14:35

If you read reviews of DLP many people give a ' Top Tip ' to take extra food from the breakfast buffets to make up packed lunches.

Personally I don't agree with this, as the hotels are bed and breakfast, not lunch as well. Disney just keep hiking up the prices to cover the cost.

We sometimes take some croissants with us if we are in a hurry to eat on our way to the parks, but when you see families packing huge amounts of food into their bags after eating a full breakfast, I think that is taking the ' Mickey '. Taking some rolls or croissants for kids who don't eat much breakfast to eat later is different. Some people also put some dry cereal in a plastic container, so their kids can munch on this later.

People argue that the food is expensive, but this should be budgeted for when deciding on a hotel - there are cheaper accommodation options than the Disney hotels.

Disney are now beginning to clamp down on people making up lunch from the breakfast buffets - I have heard that Cast Members ( staff ) in the restaurants are now keeping a closer eye on people and stopping them.

Hope you have a Magical Time!

Figgygirl · 31/10/2011 14:43

The shopping centre mentioned is at Val D'Europe, which is one stop from Disney on the RER line A train, or by free shuttle bus from the bus stops by Chessy station. The trains run until late at night, but the bus will stop earlier.

One way ticket from Chessy to Val DE costs ? 1.70. Kids half price. You can buy a carnet of 10 tickets to save money.

Val DE indoor shopping mall is huge, and has quite a few fast food and other restaurants, including a Mc Donalds.

There is also a Sealife Centre.

Geordieminx - crossed posts - LOL! I am a slow two finger typer so you nipped in!

Figgygirl · 31/10/2011 14:49

Leaving the parks during the day to eat is not really a hassle outside peak times, but you then have to go through security checks again to return. At busy times there can be long queues for this, so a pain having to queue to get back into the parks again.

Walking from the parks to McDonalds takes about 5-7 mins. depending on how quick you are, as you have to walk to the far end of the Village.

Figgygirl · 31/10/2011 15:09

If you like fish and chips, it is worth checking out Toad Hall in Fantasyland. You get two large pieces of fish in batter with chips for ?9.99, so two of these would feed four people. Adding 4 soft drinks would make a total of ? 30.38. Extra chips portion costs ? ? 2.99 if you need more.

Buying two of menu 3 also gives 2 sides and 2 desserts (fruit salad or trio of doughnuts ) , plus two drinks included. Buying two extra drinks would make a total of ? 31.18 for 4 people if my maths is correct.

mummc2 · 31/10/2011 15:23

we ate at mcdonalds quiten a bit to be honest. Its very cheap compared to everything else in the park and its only for a few days. Prices were about the same if not a bit cheaper on some deals. We took our own snacks for the kids while walking round like breakfast bars/nutrigrains/flapjack etc and bottle of juice to dilute for the kids. We did eat at a couple of other places annettes which everyone raves about but we werent impressed for the prices. Toad hall was quite nice. The sports bar (just round corner from disney store) was brill for pizza nuggets and chips. And for one splash out meal (DDs bday) we ate at the rainforest cafe which was our favourite but very very expensive.

Figgygirl · 31/10/2011 15:33

This Trip Report mentions buying 2 large chicken meals and 3 kids meals in McDonalds in May this year for ? 35.

They also ate in a few places in Val D'Europe - good info with prices.

Geordie - the Halloween programme currently showing goes up to the 31st, so should end today, and hopefully next week's programme will be showing tomorrow.

Geordieminx · 31/10/2011 16:20

Good good... not that I have been compulsively checking it every day or anything... oh no... not me Grin

Figgygirl · 31/10/2011 17:20

No, of course you havn't.....LOL!

Figgygirl · 31/10/2011 17:23

Going a bit off topic, but if you had not already noticed, Big Thunder Mountain opened again today, following the recent accident.
First reports were that it would be closed until the 14th Nov for inspections, but this has been done and given the all clear, which is good news for those going soon.

Geordieminx · 31/10/2011 18:00

Ah thats good, although I am not sure whether ds will be tall enough for it - he is only 4.5, and with it being just the two of us going I wont be able to go on rides without him

Figgygirl · 31/10/2011 23:52

My 3 yr
My 3 yr old nephew loved Big Thunder Mountain - he said that the rides in Fantasyland were too babyish!

It does depend on the individual child.
Height requirement is 1.02m, same as Star Tours and Tower Of Terror.

catrin · 01/11/2011 01:38

We got back on Thursday from our first trip. We had a great time, but having just filled inmy survey, one of my big complaints was the food. Sequoia Lodge is really close to the village, so several food options, but not terribly good. I see someone mentioned that it the choice you make, staying in a Disney Hotel. Well, I never imagined such brown food existed! Everything is deep fried, overpriced child friendly, scurvy inducing blah. I took lots of bottles of water, crisps, fruit (and wine...) as these things are not cheaply available. We also, after paying through the nose for lunch on day 1, had 1 roll each for lunch from breakfast. Compared to what some families ate at breakfast, I felt no shame.
That being said, the weather was great, the rides were fab and dd had the best birthday ever. Enjoy!

Figgygirl · 01/11/2011 02:16

I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the dining in DLP catrin - that is one thing that we do enjoy on our trips there.

Hunters Grill buffet in Sequoia Lodge is usually very good, as is Cape Cod in the Newport Bay, Yacht Club in the Newport Bay, Manhattan Restaurant in the Hotel New York, Agrabah Cafe buffet in Adventureland, Walt's in Main Street, and Blue Lagoon inside Pirates Of The Caribbean ride in Adventureland.
Inventions buffet in the Disneyland Hotel is amazing, with Characters at dinner.
Auberge De Cendrillon in Fantasyland is fine dining with Princes and Princesses.
I have not eaten in Plaza Gardens buffet for some time, but it always seems very popular.

We had a very nice meal in Rainforest Cafe a few weeks ago, but I was disappointed with the service and attitude of the desk CM in La Grange buffet in Billy Bobs, so reported it while I was there.

Fast food wise we have always liked Colonel Hathis Pizza Outpost in Adventureland for the theming and Jungle Book music! Pizzeria Bella Notte is also usually a nice counter service place to eat. We like the ribs and chicken wings with tortilla chips in Last Chance Saloon in Frontierland, and also the Mexican food in Fuente Del Oro in Frontierland.

We don't usually bother with lunch as a good breakfast keeps us going until dinner.

When they were young our boys just wanted burgers and fries or pizza, but we always ate once in Blue Lagoon for a treat as they liked to watch the ride boats go by, even if they did find the food a bit too fancy.

For us, the meals are part of the holiday, but I do budget for the cost and sometimes add Half Board to our booking.

You can read my and other people's DLP restaurant reviews and see photos of meals on Trip Advisor.

Figgygirl · 01/11/2011 02:35

I have just written a new review of Agrabah Cafe in Adventureland, which is a buffet restaurant with North African & Mediterranean foods.
Not to everyone's taste ( no chips! ) but very good for vegetarians, people who need Halal foods, and those who just want something different!

I have taken photos of the rooms and foods but have not added them to the review yet.

Geordieminx · 01/11/2011 07:28

Thanks Figgy, I think I was thinking of a different ride?

He is just over 1.1m so should be good for the majority of the rides. The only one I wasn't sure about was Crushers coaster? He is tall enough but it recommends being over 8?

I am really surprised at the weather just now, we have bought hats gloves and scarves expecting it to be freezing but the forecast is pretty good. Just hope it holds put til next week!

I think the main thing to do if you are wanting to keep costs down is take snacks and juice with you, as these are the things that add up. Crisps, raisins, small packets of sweeties and sone diluting juice will certainly reduce the costs. It will be expensive, but then again most places where they have a captive audience are.

We went to Scotland Museum in Edinburgh at the weekend, £1.60 for a can of coke (no glass or anything) and £5 for a kids lunch box which had 1 sandwich, a fruit shoot, a small jelly and an apple in. Hmm

piratecaaaaaaaaaghhht · 01/11/2011 07:34

don't expect a veggie option tho, at DLP Mcdonalds. i fed dd but not myself.

piratecaaaaaaaaaghhht · 01/11/2011 07:36

oh god, don't take a little one on crushers coaster, it's very scary. my dd was over the height restriction, but i was lulled by the lovely advert for it on the in house DLP tv. it was really fast and a shock to the system!!

UserNameNotAvailable · 01/11/2011 10:38

Wow thanks for all the replies :) especially Figgygirl, I'm off to have a look now.
Only 2 more sleeps to go! I'm really looking forward to it but I'm stressing myself out about the long travelling with ds2 who is 20 months, we're going by coach from the North east so we're getting picked up at 5am and won't get to DLP until approx 19.30 so its a loooong day lol.
Oh and I looked at the weather forecast and we're expecting showers but apparently next week will be more sun than cloud. It also said it would be mild but I'm still packing scarves and gloves etc.

Thanks again
