Starting up a new thread for anyone whose YP might be applying this autumn for entry next year!

DS has also had some offers - Sheffield, York and Leeds. He has applied grades in hand so the offers are essentially unconditional except marked as conditional until certificates are supplied. Why would that be? Others are at Uni already based on the same exams?

It’s standard. As in they just need to see certs because they aren’t linked up in quite the same way as a year 13 results day off.

my older Dc had this for their Oxford yr 14 offer and their other offers

Son has received acknowledgement for all of his. But nothing more than that. He's currently 30 mins into his TMUA. I am a nervous wreck.

How did your DS find the TMUA - mine did it yesterday and said it was the hardest exam hes ever done…. Which I guess its going to be! DS is not very optimisitic but i guess we just have to wait and see.
Does anyone know if Queens do earlier offers? DS is adament hes waiting until closer to the later deadline for add his other options but i dont think he realised some of the unis will offer earlier - think he thought they wouldnt consider until the main ucas deadline.

"It was fine" was about all I got 🤣🤣 He said paper 2 was harder which is the opposite of what everyone else said, and he had to guess a few questions. Said it was easier than SMC a couple of weeks ago though, but by all accounts that was utterly hideous.

Got to love the communications skills of teenagers! 😂 Mine preferred the second paper so hopefully they both did ok.

DD’s My Cambridge form has gone on. She wrote a bit in the extra PS space and has submitted her photo etc. Nothing else to do now until ESAT results are out. I hate the waiting part!

Wonder when the earliest date Oxford starts sending interview invites out? I know it varies subject to subject / college to college. Can't recall from two years ago though do know there wasn't a lot of notice before the interviews themselves.

This doesn’t say when invites will go out but does say you’ll get at least 24 hours notice…which isn’t a lot! Very harsh for the students to have to spend time preparing for interviews they may not even be offered…

WonderingWhyAndHow · 19/10/2026 16:41

Most students will get 10-14 days' notice.

SnapAndTap · 19/10/2026 17:37

He's got to work out how to get there in those 10 days tho - we looked at it for the open day. "Simplest" route is 3 trains and a bus (plus a load of walking)... if DH is offshore, he'll be doing that alone.

Aren’t they all online now?

SnapAndTap · 19/10/2026 18:28

@MissMogs ours is definitely in person. Maybe varies by course??

Poisoningpigeons · 19/10/2026 18:40

DD's choice of college is all in person, they've already been in touch about any requirements she may have.

MissMogs · 19/10/2026 18:58

Ah maybe that’s Cambridge. Oxford say all online

It does vary by course. Should he be offered an interview, it might be worth exploring whether he can stay the night in one of the colleges. Pre-covid, this was an option if you lived a certain distance from the university. It would at least separate the travel date from the interviews.

This is what I did when I had an interview at Cambridge many moons ago. I was coming from abroad and could stay over night in the college.

summernameandthelivingiseasy · 19/10/2026 19:43

Offer two is in- music at Manchester AAB or ABB if an A at EPQ which is why she wanted it changed. UCAS made the changes within a day.

RatherBeOnVacation · 19/10/2026 20:41

@MissMogs At Cambridge it depends on which college you apply to, and sometimes which course.

Congrats on the offer for your dd @summernameandthelivingiseasy. Does she have Conservatoire applications too? What is the timescale like for those?

summernameandthelivingiseasy · 19/10/2026 20:48

@QueenMabby she has two - she's been very selective given her other commitments. One audition date already back for mid november, the other we don't know yet whether there will be an in-person round, but she's already had to send a recording

NurseRunner · 19/10/2026 21:38

My daughter seems quite relaxed about it all! I reminded her this evening that she needs to periodically check her email (not something she would usually do!) “oh yeah, I forgot about that”
Lo and behold she has an offer from Sheffield - for English Lit (her 2nd choice; she really liked it on the open day!) AAB, ABB if she firms it. (Contextual)
She’s very happy with that!

Camcat23 · 19/10/2026 22:50

Depending on the college, staying over is definitely a good option, one of my friends stayed over at Gonville and Caius the night before her interview there, and said it definitely made her more settled! She was travelling from 4.5 hrs north of Cambridge for reference on how much travel they might require to offer a room!

CreamBeforeJamOnScones · 20/10/2026 06:50

I read somewhere that if travelling over a certain mileage for interview, Cambridge offer overnight accommodation. It might have been on the adjustments to interview form and it might have been 100 miles but do check.

Joining late! DD applying to Oxford for physics. ESAT done (went ok); two other offers in which takes the pressure off. Now we wait.

Congrats! If you don't mind me asking, where did she get early offers? I'm interested in which unis are already sending physics offers.
