that Great news @KittyMcKitty and others confirmed. We still waiting.. so hope comes soon!!

KittyMcKitty · 30/08/2023 22:27

@Ofcourse44 im so sorry you’re still waiting - it’s such a terrible system - hope you hear very soon.

EmmaStone · 30/08/2023 22:40

Wonderful news! So glad students are finally starting to get their allocations!

Still waiting here, but I know it can't be much longer. Getting slightly anxious about when we're going to fit the shopping in...

KittyMcKitty · 30/08/2023 22:44

@EmmaStone keeping everything crossed your dd hears soon!

GoldenRuby · 30/08/2023 23:08

@KittyMcKitty mine had her salt lamp in Johns last year. I must remember to get a new bulb before she goes back, as the last one gave up the ghost.

Trumporange · 31/08/2023 00:23

I'm completely baffled as to why Durham send provisional college allocations to anyone holding an offer rather than only firmed offer holders or just waiting until results day. This would surely mean fewer switches/reallocations.
Not sure what the benefit is of them allocating to everyone before results.

Aaarrrh · 31/08/2023 06:50

Hi, my thoughts are with all those still awaiting news. Sending positive thoughts!

Jus to confirm, my daughter also received her 1st choice accommodation email yesterday…. she was so shocked but very very happy.

MFLDurhamMum · 31/08/2023 07:26

Is great to hear that some of you have allocations now, congratulations and thanks for updating.

Dd is still waiting but she didn't meet her offer so I assume she'll be one of the last and highly likely to be re-allocated (her provisional is full).

KittyMcKitty · 31/08/2023 07:29

@Aaarrrh fantastic news really pleased for your dd - was it a college which had been listed as full?

@MFLDurhamMum i hope your dd hears soon - keeping everything crossed for her and all others still waiting.

KittyMcKitty · 31/08/2023 07:31

Re Matriculation are there rules on shoes? My dd basically has platform DM’s (shoes), trainers and ridiculous platform party heels. Would the DM’s be acceptable?

Aaarrrh · 31/08/2023 07:37

Hi, KittyMcKitty, yes a college listed as full.

Hi, MFLDurhamMum. Can’t be much longer and really routing for your daughter!

LaDeeDa123 · 31/08/2023 07:39

@KittyMcKitty i don’t have a dc at Durham but you need to stop stressing about tiny details. Nobody will care what shoes your daughter wears.

chocolatenutcase · 31/08/2023 08:09

@KittyMcKitty any shoes will be ok. Not really relevant for you DD but a word of advice for those with DD in a hill college - avoid heels because there's quite a wall from hill colleges to the cathedral. And don't worry about what to wear to matriculation. Smart but again anything goes.

chocolatenutcase · 31/08/2023 08:10

Walk not wall

SpamhappyTootsie · 31/08/2023 08:14

There were all kinds of shoes at DS’s matriculation - baseball boots, court shoes, DMs……. I would definitely be in the DM camp if I was doing it Grin
No, I didn’t stand by the side and check out all the shoes as they went past, it’s an observation from DS’s photos and the College photo front couple of rows. There was a huge range of outfits, too. It all pulls together with them wearing gowns. Put a gown on…..bingo! you’re a Durham Student.

Ofcourse44 · 31/08/2023 11:25

Mine is still waiting… is hard..

KittyMcKitty · 31/08/2023 11:41

@Ofcourse44 im so sorry - keeping everything crossed that today brings good news. I found an email
address for the allocations Dept if you’d like it - they said they can update dc directly as to their allocation status.

Ofcourse44 · 31/08/2023 11:47

@KittyMcKitty yes please to the email address. She has sent one to admissions but nothing back…

KittyMcKitty · 31/08/2023 11:49

Ofcourse44 · 31/08/2023 11:47

@KittyMcKitty yes please to the email address. She has sent one to admissions but nothing back…

Have pm’d you x

GoldenRuby · 31/08/2023 15:42

@KittyMcKitty I think your DD and mine sound very alike. Mine normally lives in her platform DMs, but she wore heals for matriculation as she didn't have far to walk.

KittyMcKitty · 31/08/2023 16:35

They all look very glam! Dd has been reading though a mountain of stuff from college today (no emails for 2 weeks and now thousands!) - she may well wear heels as also has the benefit of minimal walking.

EmmaStone · 31/08/2023 20:18

DD finally heard - she's been reallocated from Chad's to Trevs. She's quite disappointed, but I'm sure once she's processed, she'll be fine. Relieved that things are finally moving on at last!!

KittyMcKitty · 31/08/2023 20:36

Oh I’m sorry for her that’s a shame but at least she’s not going through another weekend not knowing. Trevs is in a great location though by Mary’s so v close to the science site and it has a great reputation for being friendly and welcoming. One of the 2nd year students at the offer holders day had been reallocated from a Bailey college to Trevs and she was very happy there.

MFLDurhamMum · 31/08/2023 20:42

@EmmaStone I hope she's not too disappointed and I'm sure she'll love Trevs when she's there.

No news here still. We're away for a couple of weeks from Saturday and I'm not sure when we'll fit in any shopping. DD doesn't seem too bothered. I even asked her about shoes!
