Jobs for uni going DD which don't need experience

DD in second year of uni is trying to get a part time job in hospitality or retail, but has no experience in either. So far she has logged onto Stint, and combed Indeed with no luck. Most people say they want someone with experience. Any tips?

Good advice above. My DC say to apply to lots of things and don't worry about rejection or no response. It can be quite random whether you get an interview or not from an online application. DD found out she got her fast food job because they liked her hair (all applicants interviewed were equally good). In one job, DS2s manager couldn't be bothered with company policy on shortlisting so just interviewed first 3 suitable CVs on the system and rejected the rest so really random who got thru.

DDs friend does care assistant work in her uni town. Really well paid and more shopping, cleaning, cooking and befriending than personal care. She loves it and very flexible with her uni hours.

Pubs are usually crying out for staff. One i was in at weekend had a notice up asking for pt and ft staff.

My son got his two jobs he's had (KP at a café at 16 and a retail shop at 17) by walking in and asking. Also many places advertise on their Facebook page if they have vacancies. Big places like Thorpe Park also hire a lot of kids for the summer.

Do her friends have jobs? They might be able to get her in to some shifts when massively understaffed.

Otherwise, volunteering in a charity shop

Would recommend student unions jobs (bar or shop), I didn’t have any experience and got one.

DD got a job in a local cafe. She had zero experience. She just kept applying to things. It was a numbers game. All she had to offer was a clear speaking voice, good eye contact, good posture and good first term grades.

She had a mountain of rejections, but eventually it was enough for someone.

Like a previous poster said, expect rejection and plow on.
