I can't post a link unfortunately @Benjispruce4. I hope things improve when lecture start. DD made quite a few friends on her course.

@Benjispruce4 I think you would have to join Fb to join the WIWIKAU group - might be worth it to get some support/advice?

Also, the parents ask/offer for their DC at the same uni to meet up with those needing friends/support - seems to work well for many

There is a parent on WIWIKAU whose son is at NTU and in the same predicament as your DD @Benjispruce4.

@Benjispruce4 if you go on Fb, there are a few at NTU - don’t think the web site is used as much? But TBF, I don’t go on the Fb group now - just had a look!

Shes home. Withdrawn from the uni to have a gap year. One week’s accommodation owed is all. Am relieved and sad for her all at once.It feels right though.

My dd2 is also having a year out.

@Benjispruce4 as others have said, a really brave decision made by your DD2. Really sorry that things didn't work out for her but hopefully there is a silver lining that will reveal itself very soon.

So sorry it didn't work out for your DD Benji but she has done the right thing and it will give her time and space to decide about next steps.

Thanks all. Looking back, she made a panicked clearing choice out of desperation after her disappointment. That’s unlikely to work out but she so wanted to get away this year as it’s what she had been gearing up for. It just wasn’t the right fit.

Benjispruce4 So sorry to hear your news. It was a brave decision, but clearly a right one. Taking the pressure off, will hopefully give her time to work out what she really wants and the next best move.

@Benjispruce4 so sorry to hear about your DD but how brave and independent. It takes guts to leave and not just carry on hoping for the best. She can take a step back now with space to think. Good luck to your DD.

DD has landed herelf a job. She only moved back to Newcastle less than two weeks ago and was surprised to get something so quickly. It is in her field, and I'm pretty sure her degree helped her secure it. It isn't a graduate job as such, but small beginnings etc...

Besides, she is still planning to do a masters within the next few years.

I suppose I should sign off from this page - dd is now earning more than me! Outing so won't say what (only 15 of them) but very proud ...

Now if only the older one would graduate, 2nd course not on track

DD’s is too but she gets to wfh twice a week. Is that an option or is it lab based?

She will be working in a pharmacy so WFH isn't an option. Having CFS might be the issue here.
