@bigTillyMint Yes but she still hasn’t received the deposit as the agent is on annual leave!

LouisCatorze · 11/08/2022 10:15

@bigTillyMint Yes but she still hasn’t received the deposit as the agent is on annual leave! Charming! It's very much a one-way street with all these transactions, isn't it? @Benjispruce4 your DD might need that money imminently for her deposit on her new house/flat share. There is no thought of the wider picture is there (from agents and landlords).

Benjispruce4 · 11/08/2022 10:20

No it’s our money @LouisCatorze and parents can wait indefinite can’t they?

Benjispruce4 · 11/08/2022 11:16

Indefinitely

bigTillyMint · 15/08/2022 16:25

@Benjispruce4, did your DD go to yet another 21st on the weekend?!

Benjispruce4 · 15/08/2022 16:40

@bigTillyMint no she didn’t. She was out in her home town on Saturday night .

Benjispruce4 · 15/08/2022 19:01

Though I’ve just been told that there are drinks after work tomorrow in London ??

bigTillyMint · 16/08/2022 19:05

He’s gone! @Benjispruce4 They epii you of be so freaked out if they realised we know each other on MN 🤣

bigTillyMint · 16/08/2022 19:05

Would be - not sure what happened there!

Benjispruce4 · 16/08/2022 23:23

Haha I know!!!! Our guilty secret.😂

LouisCatorze · 17/08/2022 10:47

I reckon you two are destined to meet in person at some point @bigTillyMint and @Benjispruce4 !

How is everyone getting on over the summer, new graduates and still-undergraduates?

There's been a change of plan with DS. He's decided against living with his g/f, wanting to save as much money as possible to do a Masters next year. It all came out of nowhere rather, so we in a period of adjustment.

How is your DS doing @icanbewhatiwant ?

LouisCatorze · 17/08/2022 10:47

we're rather than we in

bigTillyMint · 17/08/2022 11:18

It’s a big step to move in with a partner, especially if it’s just the two of you together. Saving money sounds like a good plan @LouisCatorze!

We arrived back to find the house intact and our two on good terms - hopefully it continues!

LouisCatorze · 17/08/2022 11:49

@bigTillyMint I totally agree. The only issue is that he arrived home (expecting him to be coming on a flying visit, as usual), only to find he'd moved the goalposts without telling us. It's the right decision though, I'd say. His job seems a bit 'ad hoc' at the moment, so I really don't think he's financially stable enough to committing to a year-long contract at this point in time.

Plus, although he and his g/f have been together for two years, you just never know with young love, do you? It would be awful if they move in together, and then their relationship goes pear-shaped.

Glad that you returned to your two still being on good terms. It makes a lot of difference to have non-warring siblings in the house, particularly when some #wfh makes being around each other more of a thing than it previously would have been.

Benjispruce4 · 17/08/2022 13:18

Yes the wfh can be an issue. So far DDs have been missing each other a lot as DD1 in office, DD2 working all day or with bf. But DD1 has to realise we are home on holiday, not to provide conducive work conditions.🤨

Benjispruce4 · 17/08/2022 13:19

I say missing, I don’t mean pining! Obvs!

bigTillyMint · 17/08/2022 16:00

🤣

Yes I agree @LouisCatorze - DS and his gf were thinking about it at one point but I pointed out it is a big step to take… anyway she has happily renewed her houseshare contract with friends and DS has no job!

LouisCatorze · 18/08/2022 16:14

@ZandathePanda just read your DD2's brilliant results on the A Level results thread (invested as have a DN in the cohort). What an achievement, given how tough things have been for her over the past few years. She must be absolutely thrilled.

icanbewhatiwant · 18/08/2022 20:12

@LouisCatorze ds1 only did the tree weeding job for a week, did I say that? He now has a temporary job for 4 weeks in HR. He applied for a 12 week job at the same place, but they've offered 4 weeks for the moment. He still plans to go to NZ in Jan. We are on holiday, I've left ds1 and ds2 home, last year when we went away the mess in the kitchen was awful, ds won't tell me about the new job until ds2 cleans the kitchen, ds2 says ds1 has made the mess. Ds2 has sent me videos of ds1's mess. I asked ds1 if he has cleared up behind himself, he said yes but ds2 is making a mess and refusing to help 🙈 honestly...what do I do with them?
I know it's ds1 making the mess though. I am always clearing up behind him.

I'm not saying anymore today as it is ds2's A level results day. No doubt he's winding ds1 about results. His message to me said...yet again I prove I'm the better child 🤷‍♀️

ZandathePanda · 18/08/2022 21:04

@LouisCatorze thank you so much, yes we all are so proud. My eyes are a bit puffy from tearing up thinking at the times she has kept going. She’s not going to Uni yet. Got some hospital stuff to get through.

Hope everyone else’s families ok with Uni entries and exits.

Nails are still being bitten but now for graduate Dd who is now awaiting 2 job offers that could see her in very different parts of the country.

icanbewhatiwant · 18/08/2022 22:43

@ZandathePanda I didn't see dd2's results. I lost track as so many results on there. It sounds like she did well. That's great. Mine did too.

Notagardener · 19/08/2022 02:59

Dc1 is moving home this afternoon ( his stuff from his room is already here). No idea how long he is staying home for, as he has plans to go abroad for a year but busy with getting visa etc

bigTillyMint · 19/08/2022 09:42

@ZandathePanda, congratulations! Well deserved!
Good luck to DD1!

RampantIvy · 19/08/2022 15:23

Well done to your DD2 @ZandathePanda. It's an incredible achievement anyway, but even more so after what she has gone through. You have two very bright girls.

I hope her further treatment is successful Flowers
