...if you can use the mocks, then use the mocks but not if they're higher than the CAGs.

And hopefully on to university!

Good luck to all those DCs starting uni this year!
I had one graduate this year and one last year - the university years pass so quickly.

JufusMum · 09/09/2020 22:05

We got all of DDs stuff out of the loft on Sunday and put it on the dining table. She assured me she will sort it all out and get it ready while I am at work.
Thursday tomorrow and nothing has been touched. She moves on Monday Confused

Monkey2001 · 09/09/2020 23:01

When packing DS's stuff, he was very full of cold, so lay on the bed feeling sorry for himself whilst I emptied the wardrobe and his GF had fun with the T-shirt folder (which he does not want to take, but acknowledged to be pretty cool!)

MillicentMartha · 10/09/2020 20:50

Most of DS’s stuff is in DS1’s vacated bedroom. Which would be fine but DS1 has decided to visit this weekend. 🙄

Not sure if it's been mentioned (no time for MN at the moment Confused- I swear this is the most stressful 'back to school week' ever)

Anyway - Lidl has student stuff This week, and the mattress toppers looked pretty decent (didn't buy one as have ordered from Dunelm) Also pillows, duvets, cooking stuff etc.

Did a basic shop for DS and will add fresh food before we leave. His halls is a trek from the shops so that will save having to cycle with heavier stuff.

No packing done but the hall is like a warehouse!

thesunwillout · 11/09/2020 09:34

Operation sort her clothes out today.

Recycle
Depop
Bin
Leave
Take

I'm quite looking forward to it.

It's like a retro clothes shop in there.

Snozzlemaid · 11/09/2020 09:52

It's feeling very real now. Dd goes tomorrow. We've packed all the new stuff we've bought but she's not touched her clothes yet. I will be nagging her to get up soon and get on with it.
Lots ticked off her to pack list but there's so much of her own stuff here yet to pack.
Will definitely have a very full very full car tomorrow.

Gymntonic · 11/09/2020 09:52

A week until she goes. Growing pile of stuff in hall but... Apparently university still has her registered on the course she got through clearing and not the course she's now back on ( post CAGs). Her department say she's on their list but emails to admissions and registration have got nowhere. And she ticked the box on registration form to say she's paying her own feesShock. And can't seem to change that either. Lots of emails have been sent to no avail. And no, she doesn't need me to look at the messages and see if I can sort it. And she's working for the next few days and might not have time to make a phone call that will go unanswered. Or if answered will be told to send another email.

Monkey2001 · 11/09/2020 11:48

@Gymntonic does she know that most uni admin people are working from home so can't answer phones?

Looks like people going to Wales have won the socialising lottery - they will still be able to meet in groups of up to 30 outside, so Swansea students will be out on the beach. Really tough for all of them, but particularly at the English/Scottish ones.

Gymntonic · 11/09/2020 11:54

@Monkey2001 yes but unfortunately not answering emails so trying to find out if it's going to the correct email address
Yes, Wales win!

thesunwillout · 11/09/2020 12:17

Happy that Wales has now introduced mask wearing in shops.

TheDrsDocMartens · 11/09/2020 12:20

@thesunwillout

Happy that Wales has now introduced mask wearing in shops.
When we were in Cardiff quite a few people seemed to be anyway
JufusMum · 11/09/2020 14:10

DD is moving to Rhondda Cynon Taff which looks about to go into local lockdown. Not before Monday please!!! She’s happy to be locked down once she is there but she just wants to get there!

Gymntonic · 11/09/2020 14:46

@JufusMum the increased restrictions are about mixing with other households. They won't prevent her moving in. RCT looking likely though.
DD off to Birmingham next weekend. Hopefully her flatmates will turn up around the same time or we're going to have some very long face- time sessions.

MillicentMartha · 11/09/2020 16:36

And Birmingham now also restricted like Manchester. Sad

DS received his timetable today for the first semester and he has 2 days online and 2 days face to face with a day off in the middle. He seems happy with that. 😅
Anyone else?

Gymntonic · 11/09/2020 17:58

Yes @MillicentMarthaSad.
Will have to wait and see what her flatmates thinking is. Wonder if it's too late to defer? Still don't think she'd want to do that though.
Timetables delayed too. Not sure she's going to get anything not online. They're going to have to enable some lab time at some point this year, I hope

Swarskid2184 · 11/09/2020 18:25

Timetable so far only has 6 hours a week! And all online......

Snozzlemaid · 11/09/2020 19:50

Starting to feel very real now. The huge pile is now all on the living room floor.
DP has been tasked with playing car Tetris to hopefully fit it all in the car tomorrow morning.
Arrival time is 2pm and only an hour and a half away so we've got all morning to pack it in.
Not sure I'm ready to say goodbye though Sad

Monkey2001 · 11/09/2020 20:16

Aw @Snozzlemaid, at least you can pop up to meet for lunch which should be lovely for you both.

Snozzlemaid · 11/09/2020 20:23

I'm sure I will be visiting often!

Sostenueto · 11/09/2020 20:23

Dgd has more info on first semester work and had 4 pieces of work to do including reading and commenting on a 20 page research paper. Has not got her timetable yet but Kings are slow at sending stuff anyway.

tantamountto · 11/09/2020 21:47

Things are relaxed here. Dd is getting the train and is going somewhere fully catered and which provides bedding so won't be taking piles of stuff. But she's doing a pre-university online course.

ShaunaTheSheep · 11/09/2020 22:44

DS and I are just back from the obligatory Ikea trip - returned with a cheese grater and roasting tin, and a heap of stuff for his room, including a rug, faux plants and photo frames. So not travelling as light as I had been led to believe Smile

Anyone else having a sneaky night away with their DP on the way back from the drop off?

Sostenueto · 11/09/2020 23:45

No dp but I will probably have to contend with DD sobbing all the way home after dropping off Dgd at uni.☹️
