Geography at Oxford

Ds has a change of mind regarding his A-levels subjects. But is also Limited to what he can do to constrains with school.

Atm he has further maths, history and physics.
He can do maths, geography and physics. But not further maths.

Does anyone know if one set of options is better to get a place to study geography at Oxford (his aim)? What he has found so far says he needs geography AND further maths which he can’t do....

Maths is also one of the most commonly taken A levels, either in combination with sciences or as part of a 'mixed' set of A levels. (DS1 took it as the former and DS2 is taking it with Art and English Literature). So possibly a little less, offered a place because they are doing Maths and more just they are doing Maths?

I think, at Oxford, there is more to applications than an A level in maths - or not - for Geography but plenty of applicants have it. Even choosing the most favourable subjects can still lead to disappointment for the great majority!

Agree with marching frogs. Maths is the most popular a level. More entries than anything else, therefore more people offer it. It is 100% not necessary, but is useful. However if applying to study geography, then that A level would be preferable. Alongside Maths, great, but FM instead of geography would be a poor move. Apart from anything else, the A level is chance to check you still love it.
