it'd be on your P60 although those aren't going out for a few weeks. Or just ask your HR. If you're over the limit so only going for minimum loan you don't even need that

Piggywaspushed · 18/03/2020 14:06

Oh, I am over the limit. Although DH is going part time but can't be arsed with faffing about with that as last year that became troublesome when, if you recall, DH temporarily packed in work!!

So, if we are over the limit, it's just a tick box thing?

All that's going on atm makes me realise how disorganised I am with filing, shopping. and how dependent on me my family is !

Lessons via WhatsApp today on how to use a dishwasher (failed) and how to use a washing machine (also failed)

MrKlaw · 18/03/2020 14:46

yeah they can just tick a box and you don't need to bother with any financials. DS filled his form in without anything from us - just how I like it :)

As for next year - I'd just signed the guarantor form for 2nd year accommodation

Shimy · 18/03/2020 15:46

@bigTillyMint DS will be coming home by himself too. We were up there just last weekend so can’t do another 140 odd miles up there again. I was hoping he’ll come back with us last weekend to avoid the trains but he didn’t want to.

Piggywaspushed · 18/03/2020 16:16

Thanks klaw.

bigTillyMint · 18/03/2020 16:46

@Shimy it’s a 500 mile round trip for us, but we will have to get his stuff at some point.

simbobs · 18/03/2020 17:48

DS home but hasn't cleared his room. Luckily we don't have far to go, but I can't realistically see them going back to normal tuition this academic year. I just hope that they get some meaningful input from their lecturers in the interim.

It was a relief to pick up DD earlier. She has been en route from France for over 24hrs and really struggled to find food, as none was being served in the airport hotel nor on the flight.

HoldMyLobster · 18/03/2020 17:51

Yes, it's a 3500 mile round trip for us but at some point we'll go back and help her sort things out in terms of 'stuff'. DD was too stressed to do it all at the time and I just wanted her home.

pollyannaperspective · 18/03/2020 17:52

DD due back Friday am. DS staying put in NE England for the time being.

Just watching today's statements - schools closing Friday, GCSE/A level exams won't happen but no idea what will be done instead.

Ginfordinner · 18/03/2020 17:53

DD is fine. She just had a tickly throat last night. I picked up some of her bulky stuff to leave with family who live locally, then will clear her room and taker home tomorrow.

ZandathePanda · 18/03/2020 17:56

Dd2 sooo excited about no GCSEs this May/June. Devastated about Eurovision.Grin

Ginfordinner · 18/03/2020 18:03

DD is devastated about Eurovision as well. So glad for your DD Zanda.

Frostyskies1223 · 18/03/2020 18:05

@pollyannaperspective , teachers were asked to provide predicted grades y'day, see thread in Secondary Education

pollyannaperspective · 18/03/2020 18:17

Thanks Frosty will take a look. I also have a role related to Primary school and anticipate SATs will be teacher assessed.

Ginfordinner · 18/03/2020 18:35

@ZandathePanda if your DD clears her room now they won't charge for next term.

Benjispruce · 18/03/2020 18:35

DD says canteen open. They can’t abandon students!

Benjispruce · 18/03/2020 18:36

Two gutted DDs. I feel sick with worry.

bigTillyMint · 18/03/2020 18:46

@ZandathePanda that’s fantastic news for your DD2 isn’t it?

@Benjispruce, sorry both of yours are upset. DD is stressed about getting diss finished with no advice, but still in Bristol atm.

Looks like I will still be working despite announced school closures as it is a special provision. I’d rather not be stuck in the house anyway!

Benjispruce · 18/03/2020 18:46

Prom dress bought for DD2. Will that happen? No idea. Just relieved she had great mock results.

bigTillyMint · 18/03/2020 18:48

@Benjispruce, great she got good mocks.

There will be so many disappointed pupils/students missing their proms/balls/graduations. Though if they could be postponed to July there might be some hope of them happening?

Shimy · 18/03/2020 19:00

DS gutted. Got good mocks but aiming for 9s.

Ginfordinner · 18/03/2020 19:27

I wonder how many less academic students will be heaving a sigh of relief?

MrKlaw · 18/03/2020 19:31

DD got a bad history prediction but otherwise she should be ok. GCSEs aren’t critical and I’m sure schools wouldn’t block a levels based on a slightly lower than target prediction?

I am trying to be positive

DD is in a GCSE year but that’s the least damaging exam to have disrupted (compared to a levels needed for uni entry, or finals getting your degree)

DS is in first year Uni which is the least impacted perhaps. Although it’s important loss of weeks of contact hours so I don’t know how they account for that as they head into years 2/3

DrMadelineMaxwell · 18/03/2020 20:11

Dd is very impressed.
She's not sure what provision of online lectures are going to be delivered yet, but she's happy that her final grade for the first year is going to be worked out, not on exams, but on the assignments she's already done. Which she's come out as first class level.

When reminding her she only needed to pass her first year she told me it didn't matter, that I already knew she was an overachiever.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 18/03/2020 20:14

I (and DD) are also gutted about Eurovision.

I'd even picked my winner (Iceland if anyone wants to check them out) Grin
