Hope you don't mind - people have pent up comments about cheese graters and traffic cones to get out of their system!

Oh another trigger for me is caffeine withdrawal. I don't drink tea and coffee but I do drink a can of pepsi max every day. If I miss it then I get a severe headache (coke addict! :o)

juicy0 · 15/10/2019 19:42

She's been given Sumatriptan to take to try and get rid of it. She's taken two since last night and they have eased it but it's still there. She's been told to take one as soon as it worsens or, if this migraine goes, as soon as she feels a new one coming on.
I'm not sure if she can take anything else with them?

bigTillyMint · 15/10/2019 19:46

Less loo roll here, but I thought it was because DS is a boy...

I donr get migraines, but air fresheners set off my allergic rhinitis. Reed diffuser is ok with just one reed in itGrin

Benjispruce · 15/10/2019 19:49

@BigTillymint yes I’m wondering what she was doing with it all?!

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/10/2019 20:13

It's milk in our house. We used to go through between 5 and 6 pints a day. There are still 3 of us at home but we are lucky if we go through 2 pints a day now. I wonder if DS2 was bathing in it.

Alicatz66 · 15/10/2019 20:22

@WaxOnFeckOff . Same here with the milk .. DS used to have pints a day ! 3 of us now use less than a pint .. he used to have enormous bowls of cereal and make protein shakes

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/10/2019 20:27

Yep, same here plus milky Mochas. My two might be adults but they've never grown out of the milk and snack before bed. I don't have milk at all except a little for cooking. DH uses a little in coffee and the odd protein shake or bowl of cereal/porridge. The rest of the 2 pints will be Ds1.

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/10/2019 20:28

I'm finding shopping for 3 quite difficult. I end up making enough for 4 and DH and DS1 are getting extra helpings.

bengalcat · 15/10/2019 20:30

@juicy0 ibuprofen /aspirin and paracetamol can both be taken with tryptans - ibuprofen/ aspirin are best if she is able to take them

MissConductUS · 15/10/2019 20:32

It is hard to adjust the shopping and meal plans without DS here. And the washing machine must think we're on holiday as I'm no longer washing piles of clothes he wore for a few hours.

juicy0 · 15/10/2019 20:35

Thank you @bengalcat

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 15/10/2019 20:46

@MissConductUS that's about right! Doing about two washes a week, if that!

justasking111 · 15/10/2019 21:09

Crazy how little washing there is. The fridge which I thought was too small is now too big. Cooking, well sometimes we just have beans on toast or something light in the evening. The milk is lasting a lot longer. As are the towels.

justasking111 · 15/10/2019 21:11

As for shopping we are popping to our local small co-op a lot, just buying bits and pieces.

Clankboing · 16/10/2019 07:25

Hmm, we havent adjusted the food shopping for two weeks. We had a repeat order at Asda and continued it, stupidly. The cupboards are overflowing because ds isn't here. We are going to miss a whole week shop to try to get back to normal. We have 12 pot noodles floating about that ds1 used to have as a snack between meals. Also the clothes washing. Ds1 is really clean which is great but would annoyingly use a towel a day. We would run out of bath sheets as they would be used quicker than we could wash leaving dh and I with hand towels to dry our body. We now have a full towel cupboard! I do miss ds1 though especially our talks. Nobody else talks as much as me and him.

Clankboing · 16/10/2019 07:26

I've still got 3 dc at home though and they eat lots and drink all of the milk.

Ragwort · 16/10/2019 07:51

Yes, much less washing and ironing here, also the fridge remains full, less clutter strewn around the house, generally a much calmer environment. DH often works away so I am loving having the house to myself Grin. DH managed to meet up with DS yesterday as he realised he could drop into DS's uni city on the way to a work appointment so they had a nice lunch out (DS requested a 'seafood lunch' - obviously as someone else was paying!). He seems very happy and settled, he is coming home this weekend so I will see him & no doubt get a pile of washing Hmm. I vowed to never be one of those mums who did all their DS's washing .....

sergeantmajormum · 16/10/2019 07:52

Yes to the long lasting food and loo roll. And the washing machine and dishwasher are semiretired. Still very quiet at home and comms from DD short but sweet. Think she feels this is her new life so doesn’t need to share all the minutiae much as I’d love to know more. She seems happy with both course and social life and learning to balance the two, it’s quite a learning curve.

AtiaoftheJulii · 16/10/2019 09:47

Thanks for the birthday wishes!
Yesterday wasn't great for him, but we had a long phone conversation in the evening which was lovely, and he sounded fairly well overall. He has stuff planned every weekend (plus two midweek gigs, one of which his girlfriend is going up for) except for two, from now till Christmas, so has plenty to keep him going.

juicy hope your poor dd's head continues to improve.

Gin good luck to your dd with finding something that works. Tricky if her flatmates aren't around in the evenings. (My eldest is very extroverted and really needs company to stay happy, she'd definitely be struggling in your dd's position.) I'm wondering whether she can meet people from the neighbouring flats easily? And I think adding your card details to the cab app is a good idea, it's probably worth a few quid a week (the loo roll and milk savings! Grin ) to feel that she's a bit happier isn't it?

MrKlaw · 16/10/2019 09:53

anyone here at Bath and know when the reading week is?

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 16/10/2019 11:46

@MrKlaw, not sure about Bath but I think the week varies depending on subject at Bristol. If your DS checks his portal surely it'll be there?

Ginfordinner · 16/10/2019 12:09

DD doesn't get a reading week

AtiaoftheJulii DD is friends with a couple of girls in the flat opposite. On the evening that she rang me in tears, one of the girls who was going to go to bed early decided that she wasn't tired after all and came over to spend some time with her.

I don't think the blocks have a common room space so it isn't easy for students to meet each other from other flats.

MrKlaw · 16/10/2019 12:10

@bigTillyMint he doesn't have one, thats the thing - a lot of his flat do so he was thinking to come back the weekend before or after but we have no idea when that is. almost easier to ask you guys than get an answer out of him :D

Trewser · 16/10/2019 12:14

Dd went to a non compulsory maths session this morning for those who felt they needed a bit of extra help for the mathsy bits of her course. She was the only one there out of 180 students! Not sure if that's good or bad!

bigTillyMint · 16/10/2019 12:48

@MrKlaw, DD doesn't come home for her reading weeks. Nor do her mates - they may do the same?
