Thought it may be nice to have a 2020 support thread, everyone welcome! (maybe Oxbridge posts could be kept to the Oxbridge thread).

nodtik
DS's form also went to UCAS on Friday.
He has had automated acknowledgement emails from everywhere except Birmingham, so interesting that your son received one from there.

When it comes to the timescale for receiving offers, I think it can be variable and not always possible to predict. DS is hoping to hear sometime between now and March.

nodtik · 02/10/2019 11:37

@Ironoaks that's strange on the Birmingham front, the email suggested 15 days, but not sure if that's for offer or rejection?

Time will tell I guess.

I wonder if all universities acknowledge applications or not?

We're hoping that by being early, he will hear back early too? Xx

nodtik · 02/10/2019 11:38

@Ironoaks which other universities did your DS apply to?

KingscoteStaff · 02/10/2019 16:15

Well the PS is done, the colleges chosen, the reference attached but still the send button has not been pressed. Deep breaths...

wineoclockthanks · 02/10/2019 17:33

Application submitted here on Friday. O and Exeter applied to (and acknowledgments received).

DS going to add 3 from York, Nottingham, Warwick and Leeds after he's seen Leeds this weekend.

Hoghgyni · 02/10/2019 19:16

Exeter are sending out offers straight away for some courses.

wineoclockthanks · 02/10/2019 19:51

Any idea which courses Hoghgyni ?

aibutohavethisusername · 02/10/2019 20:21

Welcome nodtik which course is your son applying for?

HesMyLobster · 02/10/2019 21:15

Congratulations to all with offers already - very exciting!
Congrats too to mini-@snozzlemaid, DD has her test coming up this month and it's making me appreciate the endless lifts by mum's taxi in a completely new way thinking they'll soon be a thing of the past.

DD's application is just awaiting school's reference. They won't be prioritising hers though as it's not early entry.

She was very happy with her final predicted grades AStar in psychology, A in French and . . A in Chemistry!! - the one she thought she might have to fight for after messing up the mocks in June (BIG sigh of relief!) Grin

Hoghgyni · 02/10/2019 22:06

What's he applied for at Exeter? DD's friend has been offered ABC there & AAB from Warwick for psychology after her application went in last Monday.

Hoghgyni · 02/10/2019 22:07

Excellent news Snozzle.

snozzlemaid · 02/10/2019 22:53

Thanks all. She had her first solo drive this evening now we have insurance sorted.
That stress over with, hopefully she can now concentrate on getting her ps finished.

nodtik · 03/10/2019 05:51

@aibutohavethisusername
Morning and thank you for the welcome!

DS has applied to study Sport and Exercise Science - four of his universities are in the top ten for that course, so going to be highly competitive to get in 😬

How are you son / daughter? Smile

nodtik · 03/10/2019 12:28

Have just heard on the grapevine that Bristol are sending out offers already too.....

So as far as I know that's Exeter and Bristol?

Does anyone know of any others?

Ironoaks · 03/10/2019 13:32

Friends' children have received offers from Leeds, Warwick and Bristol.

sandybayley · 03/10/2019 15:52

I've heard of offers from Bristol and Liverpool already at DS1's school.

That's interesting to hear that some universities are hot off the blocks!!

Ironoaks · 03/10/2019 19:02

nodtik the timescale can also vary by subject, even within the same university.

Hoghgyni · 03/10/2019 19:36

DD has had holding messages saying that they wish to give all candidates equal opportunity, so she is unlikely to hear anything until January after applications close.

nodtik · 03/10/2019 20:16

@Hoghgyni just out of interest, which university was that? If you don't mind me asking?

Hoghgyni · 03/10/2019 20:26

That's specifically for her subject, nothing sport related.

Eve · 05/10/2019 13:01

We are at reading open day today which is looking like. Looking like choice is reading or Loughborough with DS not quite knowing which to go as 1st choice.

Ironoaks · 05/10/2019 13:23

Eve we are at Warwick today.
DS needs to decide whether he prefers Warwick or Birmingham (he is likely to get an offer from both).

oneteen · 05/10/2019 14:44

All quiet here...DD doing lots of homework...she had a few tests last week and a few more next week....two weeks before she goes off to Japan (will be nice just to turn off from schoolwork for 8 days)

She's still working as a tutor for English and Maths one night after school and on a Sunday (learning quite a lot of good skills and now understands how disruptive she must have been in some of her own classes with her constant banter!). She's going to be an ELF again this Christmas ...just to earn some money for the summer (she earned about £1000 last year over a 7 week period).
