Oxbridge Applications 2019 (Part Three) www.mumsnet.com/Talk/higher_education/3474232-Oxbridge-Applications-2019-Part-Three

I see the other thread is full and am unable to find the next instalment (correct me if I'm wrong), so here it is.....

To kick things off, my DS has just firmed Trinity College, Oxford for Law (conditional AAB) and has insured Edinburgh (unconditional). He is Scottish so his qualifications are Highers/Advanced Highers. He achieved AAA in his prelims (mocks) so he's on track (fingers and toes crossed).

He went down to an Offer Holders day last weekend and had an absolute ball and met lots of lovely people. Roll on the next few months.......a small hurdle of exams first, mind.

How are everyone else's DCs doing?

@Purplepooch argh. Auto correct. Yes I did mean duvet.
We did same - thank you!

Not sure about everyone else but we are very glad DD is finally there. It's been a long wait. And with most friends already gone, not the calmest!

Good luck to everyone's DC this week!

Yes,it's a long waiting. On Saturday, we quickly looked around his room then waved goodbye. This morning we did a quick facetime, he looked tired. He went to pub last night, had a late sleep, then woke up at 6am by a fire drill this morning. Then there are lots of arrangement for today. Anyway, he is quite exciting.

Dd went on Saturday. She seems to be very happy. She has a lovely room with an ensuite and has made friends which I am most pleased about.

Finally dropped DS2 off yesterday - nice big light room with two window sofa seats, a kitchen unit (sink, worktop, fridge) and a basin. Shared bathroom with one other. He'd taken his brother's laptop charger by mistake so have had to send his on today. Haven't heard from him other than queries about where we had put stuff when we were helping him unpack. Hope he's ok - he was definitely a bit wobbly when we left. He has a couple of good friends in other colleges so I'm hoping he's not going to depend on them too much.

We dropped off DD yesterday as well. She seems fine but I’m missing her like mad. Trying not to send loads of annoying WhatsApps!

Lililili · 08/10/2019 20:01

I can never remember who is Oxford and who is Cambridge! My DD is Cambridge. She phoned me today and we had a long chat which was lovely. It’s all going well. She’s joined a couple of societies and has met her tutor and dos. All well. 😀😅

Happydaughterhappymum · 09/10/2019 09:49

Cambridge here! We dropped DD off at the weekend and all seems to be going well so far. She's happy with her room though has no en-suite and the shared bathroom is on a different floor and is minute. The food is apparently good and she's met some lovely people so far. Lectures start today so it was more of a freshers' few days than a freshers' week.
It is very quiet here without her.

Hello HDHM - I’ve been surprised how easy it’s been for her to make friends - phew. They had an introductory lecture today (HSPS) but proper lectures start tomorrow. I sadly would love to be a fly on the wall!

PantTwizzler · 09/10/2019 12:22

My DD is at Oxford. She seems fine but tired already — burning the candle at both ends!

Yes, sounds familiar!
