Continuing the previous thread.

Exams, assessments, essays, etc.

Support, or lack of it.

Will they all get accommodation for next year and can they cook a balanced meal yet.

Mine back at weekend.

I bought a dishmatic for ds too. (Must have read the same thread Morvah Smile ) He scorned my lovingly selected purchase and insisted he'd never ever use such a weird contraption. I'll be interested if it's ever seen the light of day when we pick up at the weekend.

I do know that ds did some washing up while at uni because he told a story about one of his flatmates yelling at him for leaving some bubbles in the sink after he tipped the water out. (Context of the story was what it's like to live with 6 girls when half of them had PMT. I pity the girls . DS is supremely irritating if one has PMT Wink )

Horsemad · 07/06/2018 22:17

I bought DS a microwave omlette maker 😂😂😂 because he said it was too messy doing it in a frying pan... 🙄

That's never been used either!!

MorvahRising · 07/06/2018 23:36

DS has an unused sandwich toaster!

Virtually every person I saw today trailing stuff out of their flats had an Ikea laundry bag and drying rack identical to DS’s.

Bubbles in the sink? Goodness Haffdonga what a clean kitchen it must have been to get uptight about that! On my few visits to DS’s kitchen one of the sinks seemed to contain leftover pasta and mixed vegetables on a permanent basis . . . . no wonder he needed a Dishmatic!

ErrolTheDragon · 07/06/2018 23:45

I offered to buy DD a dishmatic when we did her pre-uni Wilko shop - she gave me a Hmmsort of look. I don't think she's been doing much cooking, and washes mugs etc in her room.

RedHelenB · 08/06/2018 02:47

Off to get dd today. Think a exams went ok so fingers crossed for no resits. Skyped me and she has packed but need to bring an extra bag for clothes and a freezer bag for leftover food. Desperately hoping it all fits in my small car!

brizzledrizzle · 08/06/2018 03:39

Dd's phone is part of my contract, two phones with unlimited everything for £24 a month. She's happy with that.

HSMMaCM · 08/06/2018 07:25

DD had a dishmatic recommended by a friend before she started. She (and everyone else) used it all year. She brought a saucepan for her new flat yesterday and said the old ones were all scratched. Lesson learned about cooking utensils there.

What a glamorous life I lead, looking at prices of the Dishmatic and wondering whether to 'invest' in one our not.
Move over all you A list celebs, I'm on my way.

ono40 · 08/06/2018 10:54

I must have done something right because DS bought his own Dishmatic! He had a very messy flatmate who would cook at all hours of the night and never wash up. He gets on with most people but said he was glad that he would never see this person again.

HSMMaCM · 08/06/2018 11:46

DD is glad to be moving away from the person who doesn't wash out, eats stinky food and then leaves it open on the side.

By the summer term he had his own sink and fridge, while the rest shared.

Brizzle 2 phones for £24? That is some deal! Where from and does it include iPhones?

I have no idea what a Dishmatic is Grin

captainofashipwreck · 08/06/2018 17:46

brizzledrizzle I am equally glamorous, I have been googling clothes dryers

dingit · 08/06/2018 18:09

Dishmatics, Poundland everyone Grin

LooseHipsWobbleShips · 08/06/2018 18:37

I shall be investing in a dishmatic for DS for next year-he'll be so chuffed. His washing up skills are pretty good, wish I could say the same for some of his current housemates.
Exams nearly done then home for 10 days before returning for parties and balls and the final clear up and out. (There is no car big enough!!)

Lucycat · 08/06/2018 19:32

DD isn't even at Uni yet (yr13) but I've just been to Poundland and bought a Dishmatic 😂 with extra sponges for an extra £1 😂
She has better pass these A levels or I'M having the Dishmatic 😊

HSMMaCM · 08/06/2018 19:36

Lucycat- good investment for the future Grin

OP posts:
ono40 · 08/06/2018 19:52

You won't regret it Lucycat.

Meanwhile the stealth boast has backfired as DS has had the temerity to criticise the own-brand Jaffa cakes I bought for him and suggested I flash the cash for some proper ones, cheek!

RedHelenB · 08/06/2018 21:01

2 hours to pack the car. 2 hours!

brizzledrizzle · 08/06/2018 22:38

No such luck, it's whatever phone I buy as we got the deal when we phoned to say we were leaving the network - they keep offering us expensive upgrades which we decline of course.

LittleSpace · 09/06/2018 10:32

dd is still in the midst of exams and doesn't finish until next week.

Xenia · 09/06/2018 11:48

2 hours... I suppose that's just becuse there is a lot of stuff to fit in. Mine are back today but they are driving so I just went in the sun in the garden here - last day without teenagers around for 3 months probably, not that I don't like them here of course. Mind you one did need 3 months of rent transferring urgently earlier which I did. ouch.

rogueantimatter · 09/06/2018 14:12

Dishmatic!

DS is coming up for a week. Then back to London for a week or two. I am going to drive to London with him when he goes back, load up the car, spend a night recovering then drive home (to Scotland ) myself with the stuff. Even the thought is bringing me out in a cold sweat. Advice on logistics, especially where to spend the night, with reliable, preferably secure parking very welcome.

Had a lovely message from DS today with a photo of his 'Summer Spectacular' M+S haul. 😁

Cooked chicken drumsticks
Spinach and pine-nut pasta salad
Salad of lettuce, boiled egg and cherry toms
Coleslaw
Punnet of strawbs

All for £2.35!! He reckons the customer base for his local M +S is city workers who go home at the weekend resulting in over supply at the weekends. Hope M+S doesn't cotton on to this soon.

HSMMaCM · 09/06/2018 15:16

Rogue - good luck with the long drive. Sorry, no advice about where to stay. DD was showing me how to find bargains in supermarkets, as if I never knew Grin.
