Glad everyone seems to be safely home (along with their washing!) DS has enjoyed meeting up with home friends, Scout ones, old sixth formers and his old school friends as well. Quite a few aren't at uni, either doing filler jobs, proper jobs or local college courses. I can imagine that those who are away from home, like him, will have the most in common in a few years as those who have stayed locally will be moving on with their (social) lives. But for this holiday, at least, there have been lots of happy reunions.
The girlfriend is girlfriend no more, though. DS doesn't seem particularly devastated, luckily. It was such a new relationship and to be starting it just before making it long distance was just pushing it too far. I'm not too bothered either, I'd rather he throws himself into student life without having to think about his responsibilities to a rarely seen girlfriend, TBH.
I had two young men staying the night in our front room last night, or more accurately, this morning as they rolled in at 4am, fairly quietly and well behaved. DS isn't quite used to having to share his plans with me so we have had a few words about giving me advance warning and actually asking before volunteering my house to crash in. I'm generally pretty easygoing about having friends around or DS staying out late or crashing at friends, but only so long as I know! He's getting better...
