I thought I would start a new one, as the last one went a bit 'off topic'! How's everyone getting on? Am so excited, and a bit nervous, as DS has two interviews coming up! How is everyone else's DCs preparing? Also, any tips from anyone who's been there?

Hello everybody and welcome to HMW. I've missed this thread too and was wondering how everybody was getting on with the exams fast approaching.

My DD has all her exams next week and the week after. I can't wait for them to be over, never mind her!

Good luck to everybody - it's a nerve racking time for them and us too!

HMW9793 · 02/06/2015 12:15

Thank you both. Very interesting about Southampton which was always the favorite but he was realistic enough to see that if anyone made him an offer it would be his first choice. Southampton admissions continue to send e-mails saying he could hear up to October and they would then sort out his firmed existing offer. He has recently been allocated the York campus for HYMS and he is very happy with that.

I join you in hoping that the exams go well for all sitting.

mrsmosquito · 02/06/2015 20:13

Good luck to all! My daughter has wanted to do medicine for years now. No fallback choices. Only got one offer but delighted to have it. Now to get the required results. What a rollercoaster year!

Mindgone · 04/06/2015 10:38

Definitely a rollercoaster year! I expected it to be tough, but living it is a bit different! At least we're not worrying about the bloody ukcat this year!! Smile

Ds has his first exam on Monday - then a whirlwind 9 days and they're all over! He's v chilled... Have everything firmly crossed for him and will stay that way for the forseeable (may get a bit uncomfortable).

Decorhate · 07/06/2015 21:04

Good luck to all your dcs over the next few weeks. It's just over two months till results day Shock

Mindgone · 08/06/2015 00:26

Good luck all from here too! Decorhate, scary when you put it like that, will be a nervous wreck in two months time!
Queenie, hope you don't get cramp! Tonic water should help if you do though, preferably with lots of gin or vodka thrown in too! Medicinal of course! Wink

Just joining in, my PFB DS is hoping to get in to Oxford, couldn't be more proud. Nerve wracking time for them right now, so much pressure, can only hope for the best!

Decorhate · 08/06/2015 06:28

Welcome to the thread Lookout. My dd has Oxford as her first choice too so our dcs may be classmates next year!

QueenQueenie · 08/06/2015 12:54

Ds1 starts his first exam (Biology) in 36 minutes... sending positive vibes.
Can't believe the last hurdles (A2s) are finally underway. Finishing line in sight...
Good luck to all doing their exams this week.

Decorhate · 08/06/2015 17:14

Which exam board was it Queenie? My dd had Biology OCR & not happy with the paper...

QueenQueenie · 08/06/2015 17:16

OCR for him too Decorhate. He said it was hard - harder than last year he thought - but 'fine' - whatever that exactly means..!
Maths tomorrow...

Decorhate · 08/06/2015 18:06

Yes dd said harder than past years too. There has been lots of muttering about a question on excretion

Oyster2 · 08/06/2015 18:30

OCR here as well and the paper has left dd worried as she really has no idea how she has done. Definitely a hard and slightly odd paper. It was her best chance of an A * (and she needs 2) and she feels the pressure is really on now. She really couldn't have prepared any better but very little of the content came up apparently. I've told her the grade boundaries will probably be low - let's hope I'm right!

Decorhate · 08/06/2015 18:38

Yes my dd had been hoping Biology would give her the A she needs. She's not sure now. I'm glad it's not two A she needs. Best of luck to them all for the rest of the week

QueenQueenie · 08/06/2015 20:17

Poor things, so stressful. 2A*s needed here too for first choice Hmm

Mindgone · 08/06/2015 20:58

Gosh, the A*s really add to the pressure! None needed here thankfully. OCR biology here too, DS said it wasn't too bad, but definitely worse than the past papers he's done. Decorhate, yes, I heard that too, and peritoneal dialysis. DS was hoping for the liver instead!

angethomp190 · 08/06/2015 22:28

My dd did biology too today but AQA and she thought it was ok. She's hoping for a A* in it but only needs an A. Psychology tomorrow and chemistry on Wednesday.

mrsmosquito · 09/06/2015 09:24

My dd also did Biology yesterday - was upset as it didn't go well; she feels she messed up the timings somehow. Now she has to try and get back on track for the rest....she has exams until the 18th June so she really needs to keep focused..

Decorhate · 09/06/2015 18:06

Hope today's exams were better for everyone?

QueenQueenie · 09/06/2015 23:16

Maths here. All good apparently... Phew!
Chemistry tomorrow...

Mindgone · 10/06/2015 00:30

Chemistry here too tomorrow, hope they come out smiling!

OP posts:
mrsmosquito · 10/06/2015 15:39

No smiling here after Chemistry...

Decorhate · 10/06/2015 17:05

Sad Dd said it was weird....

It's going to be a long wait till results day

angethomp190 · 10/06/2015 17:17

No smiling here but crying! Dd hated the OCR chemistry paper and said it was the worst exam ever and feels she won't be studying medicine. I've tried to make her feel better but it's so difficult...
