Pasta pasta and more pasta! Tea, coffee, juice, cornflakes, uHT milk. Jacket potatoes. Tin of soup, beans. Biscuits, crisps. Unless you know what the fridge situation is don't go for anything perishable.

Sparklingbrook · 15/09/2013 10:30

Thank you titchy. I might get him one of those Kelloggs selection boxes of cereal. Oh yes, biscuits.

I have known him since he was about 8.

Tins of tuna. Some fruit.

FrussoHathor · 15/09/2013 10:34

Longlife milk. Sugar. Packs of dried noodles (super noodles or homebrand equivalent)

Vatta · 15/09/2013 10:36

Vitamin c, to ward off fresher's flu

stripeygreensocks · 15/09/2013 10:37

A student cook book as well?

Sparklingbrook · 15/09/2013 10:37

So stuff to add boiling water to is good.

This is making me a bit teary and he's not even my son. Sad

A tin opener!

Tub of Smash

shrinkingnora · 15/09/2013 10:42

Paracetamol, ibuprofen, long life fruit juice, squash, bottle of vodka, tinned microwave treacle sponge and chocolate pudding, sugar, cereal, mars bars.

Indith · 15/09/2013 10:43

Def lots of stuff to add to boiling water. First week he isn't going to cook. Maybe a few of those porridge thingy tubs you add water to for a decent breakfast after a big night! I'd go for a few simple quick fixes for first week plus a student cook book and a giftcard for his nearest supermarket.

shrinkingnora · 15/09/2013 10:44

Bagels. Bit random but they keep for longer than bread. Or any of those individually wrapped brioche or pains au chocolat that Aldi do. Cans of coke.

NotAnotherPackedLunch · 15/09/2013 10:45

Marker pen for any food he has to put in a shared fridge.

defineme · 15/09/2013 10:48

There are also pot rice, pot cous cous, pot pasta and so forth. Harvest crunch bars keep me going.

funnymummy2931 · 15/09/2013 10:53

Shampoo, shower gel, etc usual bathroom stuff.

How lovely and thoughtful of you Grin

Mumzy · 15/09/2013 10:55

Instant hot chocolate, chocolate, big bag of crisps, cake, hobnobs, instant soups, Jam, marmite

Sparklingbrook · 15/09/2013 10:58

These are brilliant, you lot are great. Lots that I hadn't thought of. I thought stamps but that's a bit old fashioned do you think?

My dad got me light bulbs when I went to uni.

Air freshner be useful. Those student houses are musty.

Sparklingbrook · 15/09/2013 11:06

Would tupperware be useful? Or 'Tupperwhere's the effing lid' as we call it.

OP posts:
DoudousDoor · 15/09/2013 11:15

Bottle of wine him to share with new housemates the first night.

Cake - ditto

My mum made her gorgeous choc cake. Everytime she came to visit I had loads of people asking if she was bringing another one!

Sparklingbrook · 15/09/2013 11:25

Cake and wine. I like the sound of this Uni thing. Smile

Well I will be off shortly with a copy of the thread, and will report back with my finds.

Thank you!! x

My 15 year old son would currently live with:

Sandwich press
Non stick pan

Pasta
Cheese sauce
Big salami sausage
Cheese
ASDA tomato pizza topper
Fruit
Weetabix
Milk

I would get the non perishables from that list and leave him to but the rest
