No idea about the smiling pbe. Honestly, it's fun to watch but don't read anything into it!

Smiling is "wind" when it's just the little curly lip thing that they do. After that it's real smiling - you can usually tell, I think. I have a photo of ds at 7 weeks, sitting up almost unsupported having his photo taken, big grin on his face. It was in the middle of Asda and the photographer couldn't believe it. He has supported his own weight on his feet from 2 weeks, held his own head well from about a month old and walked holding my hands from about 3 or 4 months. I don't think it's "gifted" though, it all balances out, as he's 10 months now and just cruising along quite happily, doing nothing exceptional lol!

my DD did both by 4 weeks - not sure she is gifted though although she is perfect in every way . I put the rolling over down to the fact she had bad colic, she rolled around in pain a fair bit and I think it built up her muscles. I clearly remember her nearly falling off the docs bed during her 6 week check - I told him she could roll but don't think he believed me so she proved it. By then she was rolling both ways.

Much baby-proofing of house was required later on ....enjoy

Hmm. My DD has low muscle tone so she is late at doing everything physical. However she can speak really well (she is 16mos) and recognize numbers and letters. It looks rather funny to see a talking commando crawling child. So..my point is..all children are different!

And I am way late with this thread..but it really gets to me when I see people going on about early walkers being gifted etc when my poor DD can't even stand up!

chopster · 26/02/2008 08:24

My ds1 could roll from tummy to back from birth and the other way a few weeks later.

He is bright and has a gift for maths, is way ahead of other children. He also has dyspraxia, hypermobility syndrome and suspected to be autistic.

I agree that you can't read anything in it that young.

pmsl

Is this a joke thread?

potoroo · 26/02/2008 08:30

DD could say hello at 4 weeks. Or at least that's what DH tells me. I said but he is convinced.

needmorecoffee · 26/02/2008 08:41

eeeeek. My first born did everything early physically - rolled at 3 weeks, walking by 6 months.
She's now a over hyper emotional highly strung 16 yo.
So run away now
dd2 on the other hand, still can't roll at 4. I'm beginning to get an inkling that she's not gifted physically.....

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 26/02/2008 08:53

DD was walking at nine months, talked early and today a taxi driver was surprised she is only 2yrs 5mths because she talks so well.
I dont think she is gifted - if she could stop walking into walls and tripping over her own two feet, I may start to believe it

itsahardknocklife · 26/02/2008 09:00

mu little boy is 16 months old and is REALLY good at pushing other kids over and smearing food on the walls

dividedself · 26/02/2008 17:38

She smilied in the womb. Like this you mean. Did you conceive a mobile or a laptop at the same time?

needmorecoffee · 26/02/2008 18:18

Can I boast too.....dd learned to chew at last and to say 'ah' for yes. She's 4 and a great deal of her brain is missing or damaged.
I reckon she's pretty gifted

CoteDAzur · 26/02/2008 18:27

Me too. DD punched gyne's hand as he was pushing her so she would turn around for the ultrasound. I was about 5 months pregnant.
