This is our 50000 (or summat like that) thread.

Some of us do wW, some do the Lord Ford and there may even be a little bit of South Beach in here too!

If you have loads or a teeny tiny bit of weight to lose or even if you just want to eat healthy then this could be the thread for you.

Hells - you have my (and I'm sure everyone elses) total support with this.

Keep posting so we can keep telling you how fab you are doing.

Even though you don't want to eat the same stuff day in day out for a while longer......

I love the end result - ANYTHING??? How brilliant!

Mouseface · 04/06/2010 14:19

Ouch, poor you double. Hope the shower helps!! And you have a fab night with your friend.

Mittz · 04/06/2010 14:21

It is weirdly very much a vegging day. I am pottering at the speed of a geriatric turtle.

Sorry DS is not doing so good Mouse. Is it something he often has or a specific bad day. I hope I haven't worded that badly but know very little about his problems, I hope I don't cause offence.

I am also in hating half term mode. The DC's get loads of company but usually it results in mad experiments and my house being trashed. One of DS's female friends raids my hair care and make up (which I secretly love ) and uses our computer but she is better here than wandering aimlessly around on her own. I misses my slot for going in the garden and DD can't cope with the heat now,

I might take my mending pile and sit with her.

YanknCock · 04/06/2010 14:22

okay confession time. I need you to be harsh with me ladies.....

I have had McDonalds 3 times in last 3 days, had numerous takeaways in last week or so, haven't done my WW points for at least a couple weeks, and at last weigh in had gained 3lbs.

I'm at home today trying to get my life sorted out, and my head seriously needs sorting out on the diet front. We've had a gym membership for a month and haven't gone once.

Saw GP this morning, ear infection seems to finally be going, but the chest infection has left me a bit wheezy and needing an inhaler loads. But still, no excuses, stuffing my face is not going to help me feel better!

So please yell at me/inspire me!

bellavita · 04/06/2010 14:24

Hope you feel better soon Double.

Hells, I have no expectations of any of us who are going on the 12th. We are what we are.

OP posts:
bellavita · 04/06/2010 14:29

Yank darling, you have had soooo much on your plate since you got back from the US that it is hardly surprising that you are having a crap time and with that comes comfort eating too. I think we can let you off a leeetle bit .

Now, forget the muckyd's - that has now been and gone. Do yourself an internet shop and order loads of fruit and fresh stuff and start again tomorrow. Make an effort to go to the gym on Sunday eh? Give your inhaler time to work on the wheeziness.

OP posts:
Mittz · 04/06/2010 14:32

yank. give yourself a break. i know if you feel you have slipped it can make you feel bad but seriously, after all you have been through, food can't have been a high priority. you will get back to it when it feels right and remember, the minute you draw a line and start again, you are back on track xx

no expectations here either.

Mouseface · 04/06/2010 14:33

Mittz - it's his reflux and you worded that just fine. It seems he can keep water down but not feed. He's had this since birth but today is a bad day although this is a daily occurance.....

I gave him 300mls of feed this morning and he brought 140mls back. I have to try and replace that but it's a vicious circle.

Back to his Paediatric Consultant on Tuesday. Queue shouty mummy!! This really does need sorting and I think they are running out of ideas. Makes me sad for him.

Right, off to get DS up.

Be back tonight with the curry recipe and time for chatting!!

Bye all x

Yank every McDonalds you eat is another x thousand calories that you are at some point going to have to NOT eat (or exercise off, which is even harder) between now and your goal weight.

McDonalds does not make you happier. Somehting tasty and nutritious will make you feel much better. Remind DH that he is not being nice to you by bringing you chocolate or saying 'let's have a takeaway', he is being very unkind to both of you in the long run.

TrillianAstra · 04/06/2010 14:40

No-one expects you to DIET when ill/stressed/broken oven but it is possible to eat healthily (and portions to maintain your weight rather than gain).

Is that harsh enough?

TrillianAstra · 04/06/2010 14:53

Everyone has run away now? Am I scary?

Thanks for the ideas for presents. I have passed them on to DP - he's leaving work early to get a present.

Alicetheinvisible · 04/06/2010 14:58

Trills - Stacking cups are THE BEST PRESENT EVER (for a small person) you can get them in supermarkets, M&S, all toy shops etc about £5. DD has 2 lots and still plays with them. Or bath toys are good too.

Yank - McDonalds is not good for you. You have had a stressful time, so it is understandable. Look up how much salt and saturated fat are in their meals, then go and drink water (lots) as you will no doubt need a bit of a 'cleanse' iyswim?

So hot here, we have been out in the garden with the paddling pool and gazebo out but are now in the cool living room.

bellavita · 04/06/2010 15:01

I keep dipping in and out of the garden to the coolness of the living room Alice too.

I have drunk a pint and a half of water and now eating an apple.

Think i might have a little snooze now though, feeling sleepy.......

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 04/06/2010 16:02

Afternoon,

Just got back from the farm.

There were loads of things for DS to climb on and DD fell in love with a baby goat, so I think it was a success.

And we saw some tiny baby piggies! They were diddy, so sweet.

So now I had better put a wash on and de-bombsite the house.

Saf - sorry you are feeling rough, use the childfree time to get some rest.

Alice, have a kip, you will feel better for it.

Hells, that diet sounds scary. I have e-mailed you back.

Trills, you sound scary

Mouse, hope DS picks up soon.

Yank, McD's is a bag o shite, forget it and make up for it next week.

I know I've missed people out, sorry.

Catch up later.

hellsbelles · 04/06/2010 16:13

SAF - it's called the Durkan Diet. But I haven't seen a great loss yet so I wouldn't recommend yet! Let me see how it goes for a few more days.

Yank - you know what we are all going to say. Of course we aren't shouting...but you are in this horrid cycle of illing and you need healthy fuel not crap MC'ds! If you are really knackered there are some pretty healthy ready meals at M&S which are cheaper and healthier than Mc'd.

Alicetheinvisible · 04/06/2010 16:33

and Yank, they are not just any pretty healthy ready meals, they are M&S pretty healthy ready meals

Hi Bitter, sounds like a fab day.

Have dozed on the sofa while DD watched telly but feel a bit bleary now.

Got a hay delivery and horse bedding delivery this evening, so need to make up some pasta salad for DD (to have the second we are back in, doesn't do waiting when hungry - don't know where she gets that from ) Think we are having BBQ sausages in buns

Really warm now, so sat here in my shirt and pants

Lizzylou · 04/06/2010 16:37

@ Alice (at the M&S thing and the being sat in your pants thing)

Yank, I agree that you have had a tough time recently, really stressful. I do agree with Hells/Trills though that in order to face tough times and to be healthy you need to knock the McDs/takeaways on the head. Forget about weight/dieting, just think about getting some nutrition in your body so you can recover from all your illness/stress.

Have a roast tomato and courgette soup bubbling away, boys are having roast chicken. Will eat with them as it'll be too late after the gym.

Alicetheinvisible · 04/06/2010 16:46

I have galaxy in the fridge, it will help with the heartburn won't it?

Mittz · 04/06/2010 17:00

I have a universe in my pantry Alice....

No, children just don't 'wait' for food do they? Mine won't eat pasta. I hate cooking for them. DD is very finicky, won't eat meat, apart from bacon and a rare sausage. DS is just a carbon junkie at the moment. The thought of doing a cooked meal is frazzling.

We use the chippy next door occasionally but I might throw something on toast.

I can't decide if I did my muscles in at the Gym or have a bug. Stomach is slightly bloated, very tender and I have zero appetite(I know the heat doesn't help).

The DC's have caught about 23 frogs from the pond and are putting them in jars and have called it a sanctuary (don't worry, they will all be released shortly). I am calling in a Frog counsellor.

I am 'floating' in a not very flattering but very cool dress.

Mmmm Galaxy Alice - stop putting ideas of chocolate into my head!

I do wonder too if you have a bug Mittz, rest is in order! Definitely something on toast.

Double - am sorry your friend didn't make it. Poor you with the colonoscopy - DH has had a few. Where is "home"? >

OP posts:
Mittz · 04/06/2010 17:26

where is 'back' to ID? Sorry if you have said and I forgot.

Also sympathies on the colonoscopy...the things we endure..

CrispyTheCrisp · 04/06/2010 17:36

Evening

Back from a lovely few days with my parents and DD's very happy to see them. We were going to go straight on camping but some other more organised buggers nicked the final pitches at the site we wanted to go to, so we are home again.
I am currently waiting on tenterhooks as the Insurance Investigations branch have promised to call before 6.15 to tell us whether they will pay out.

Yank - the others are right, maccy D's is a salty lukewarm overcooked offering. Please do as others suggested and get a supermarket delivery of quick, delicious foods. Hopefully the warmer weather will inspire fresh crisp salad eating. And DON'T beat yourself up about it, just make a plan and move on

Mitts/Jet I hope the DC's improve very soon and Mouse, i hope you can get some answers to help DS and you to be able to enjoy day to day stuff a bit more without being overtaken by feeding

Double {{hugs}} for being homesick. I too get like that and am only 2hrs away. Hopefully your jaunt over (in a few weeks?) will recharge the batteries and give you a chance to think about where you really want to be. Is there anything keeping you to the Green Isle (other than obv DC's schools/friends etc). Ignore if you'd rather not answer

Bella - DS2 sounds like a great lad with his building skills. Finding a way of channelling such energies into tidying and homework is your challenge which i don't envy

Hells, sorry to hear the attack of the Vulkans is not going so well but good news on teh appetite suppresant qualities

Lizzy well done on the running, you must have glowed beautifully . I was sweating just sitting on the sunlounger reading my magazine

Sorry to have missed loads of people
