Vitalumiere is my favourite, too, although my skin is not so good at the moment, so am using MAC studio fix.

Recently tried the big yellow Maybelline mascara. I never got the fuss about the pink & green one, but this one is amazing.

I love Chanel Coco and No5, but all Chanel perfumes (other than Chance, which I use) smell like goat's wee within 30 seconds of touching my skin

A big box of Liz Earle goodies arrived today. Lovely.

TrillianAstra · 29/01/2010 20:48

Agree that pink and green maybelline mascara is rubbish. I'm liking benefit badgal but think it might nearly all be in the brush rather than the goo itself.

I have DKNY perfume. Not big on foundation - don't really use it.

DreamsInBinary · 29/01/2010 20:54

Iggi - good to have you back

Lizzy - the parcel was from Secret Santa, surely . Although considering the lateness, the Easter Bunny may have been more appropriate.

Jac - finished your essay yet?

Vinny - your ex sounds like a child. You seem very chilled about it, though.

Lizzy - (and another thing!) - ditching the cigs, going to the gym and doing random star jumps? Just reading about it makes me quite faint.

MyCat - how brilliant! Good luck!

Hells - hot chocolate makes it either quite sweet and homely, or a bit dirrty. Am undecided.

Yank - much kudos to you for being able to type and feed. I could barely drink a cup of tea whilst the babies were attached. Never found chocolate a problem, of course.

Sazzles - pass the gin

jetcatisfrozen · 29/01/2010 20:56

Have done my requisite 40 mins on the exercise bike, so feel a lot better now. Tomorrows a new day and all that....

I hope you have a lovely child free weekend shiney - mine are only gone for the day tomorrow so will have to think of something exercise related to make the most of free time

Hope the essay is going ok Jac - and yes, feel free to give me a jacboot every day once in a while

Bella, hope you ok, and its not an abscess

DreamsInBinary · 29/01/2010 20:57

Yep, like No7 too. Bought some blusher and shimmery stuff last week and got the free gift and had the £5 off voucher, so was rather chuffed.

Those vouchers are dreadful. You spend x amount, and get a £5 off No7 or Ruby & Millie. So I buy more stuff. Get given another voucher. Buy more stuff. Etc. etc.

jetcatisfrozen · 29/01/2010 21:02

can i ask then, as a total non make-up wearer apart from very special occassions (manchester springs to mind) what would work for a red head, who often goes brown, with very fair skin and a bright red rosy coloured face?

I have tried various foundations, but havent found one that suits, i want one that wont look like its caked on, but one that may cover the redness?

(God, sometimes i feel like i am a stupid teenager again, with no clue about such things - but in my defense, i was living on my own at 16 with other things to worry about, and didnt have mums/sisters etc to show me) that bit wasnt to create pity btw, just to explain why i am a numpty a bit behind in these areas

If you mix Mac Strobe with Chanel Vital Lumiere you get a lovely finish. And it lasts longer on a cost per wear basis.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 29/01/2010 21:04

jet - you are describing me, I use the Bobbi Brown moisturising foundation.

Night all, off to watch dodgy film on channel 5, see you tomorrow.

DreamsInBinary · 29/01/2010 21:14

Hello hf. Meant to say yesterday, congrats on the big loss

Love that optical illusion, BoF. Left-sided brain here. Not an enormous surprise! Have just spent the past ten minutes concentrating on getting her to flip, and am getting much satisfaction from doing so. [OCD emoticon]

DreamsInBinary · 29/01/2010 21:17

Am rather

DH has just staggered in after a day out with mates. No problem, there, but he has crashed on the sofa and is snoring like a warthog.

hf128219 · 29/01/2010 21:19

Dreams - thank you! Weight loss is a hard thing for a lot of us. I just suddenly realised that as dd was nearly 2 it was time to lose the baby weight! That's what set me on track - and a love of nice clothes (and a wardrobe full of them!).

It's also hard when the weather is crap and you feel like beef and dumplings and not something cooked from scratch that equates to 8 points.

VinegarTits · 29/01/2010 21:21

Listen, when your at the top of a mountain hill in the snow and its minus zero, any hot drink is yum yum, especially if it has alcohol in it

Aussie whites is indeed Australian white wine, if it makes you feel better we had hot toddies (whiskey, lemon, sugar, hot water) when we got down the mountain and into the pub, and we sat by the open fire, so dont be dissin my hot blobs, jealous now arent yer?

OP posts:
hellsbelles · 29/01/2010 21:23

oh thanks for the tip HF will try that.

DIB - sounds like Thursday night at our house

Jet - it's probably worth booking a makeover with one of those make up counters in a good department store - some of them are actually quite good and they are free if you buy one thing (or they cost about £10). I have had nice ones at bobbi brown and Nars. But don't feel pressurised into buying something unless you really really love it.

DreamsInBinary · 29/01/2010 21:25

Vinny, did you christen them 'Hot Blobs'? Did you? Did you

Hot toddies sound like heaven. Why have I never had one of those? The aforementioned warthog DH has some nice malt whiskey...

VinegarTits · 29/01/2010 21:27

My ex is indeed a child DIB

I loooorve coco channel, it is my favorite perfume, i wear it every day

OP posts:
DreamsInBinary · 29/01/2010 21:27

Oh yes, forgot Nars. Blusher in Orgasm is fab, although perhaps a little relective for a day at the office.

DreamsInBinary · 29/01/2010 21:27

reflective

VinegarTits · 29/01/2010 21:28

pmsl no i didnt christen them, Yates wine lodge did, they have been selling them for yonks

My first ever proper drink of alcohol was an aussie whites, in Yate's, when i was 18

Evening ladies

I have got no further on my essay as yet my tutor has emailed me some tips that have thrown me a bit, but I think I shall be able to fit them in to what I already have without altering too much.

Shiney I hate you and your strict ways, I am still a child at heart and require many sugar based treats on my birthday!...ok fine I will be good...spoil sport!

Can we all stop this talk of sherry yuk, yuk, yuk if anyone ever wants to buy me a drink then it would have to be Sambuca! Scrummy delicious.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 29/01/2010 21:29

Hi all...

VT....[frown] for you. They really can be such knobheads can't they?

DS went down to his Dad's after he had been swimming and phoned me excitedly to say he was going to ask if he could stay an extra night this weekend...cue chance for him and his Dad to have some one to one time... but Dad said no, he had things he needed to sort out. I don't have a problem with that but he rang me for something and complained of being a bit bored and just sorting some stuff out on the computer.
This is the man who complains so much about being lonely, missing the DC's and is apparently losing the ability to converse properly because he is isolated.

FFS....

Anyway. The plumber came to sort the radiator out and I had to move the computer set up, whole entertainment suite, surround sound system....and I have just reinstalled the lot. I am so so pleased with myself. DD helped me. It did take 2 1/2 hrs but I am smiling like a loon.

I have literally been on the go since 6 this morning and have just sat down.

Shiney..you rock when you tell people off!

My hormones are a bit awry and it is making me giggly and quite queer..

Make up.....I use a lot of No 7, but Maybelline Mousse foundation really suits my skin so I stick with that.

hellsbelles · 29/01/2010 21:32

mitts - setting all that up would be my nightmare...well done!

Jaq - shiney is very strict isn't she - that's why she's our leader

VinegarTits · 29/01/2010 21:32

Mitts mabeline mousse is fab and i always used to use that, but no7 do a similar one which is even fabber

FB, DS is 5 months (23 weeks on Monday). I tried feeding him carrots today and they just went everywhere and he hated the spoon. I must say, the BLW stuff really appeals to me (I don't qualify for full lentil-weaver status but I suppose get a bit hippy-ish about some things). Having read the MN weaning advice I have to agree that whatever little bits of carrot I can get in him aren't going to give him enough calories to make him gain weight anyway, so there's no point in traumatising both of us. Just have to persist with this constant feeding and hope it gets my milk production up.

Sazz, I'm not sure if to take the job or not, that's if they even offer it to me. It's this company that sells wool and craft kits (cross stitch, latch hook) and other supplies. They have an unheated warehouse where half of it has been turned into a shop, only opened a few months ago. They need someone to do to customer service for their web side of things and create a database of customers, plus do all sorts of odds and sods, basic admin type stuff. I am definitely overqualified, and the pay is a huge step down to what I'd get in the NHS. But....it's a family run company, close to home, and it sounds like the kind of work you can easily leave at work IYSWIM.

DH has attempted to put DS to bed, but he's up there screaming so I guess I have to go feed him again. Have a feeling he'll end up in my bed and shove DH out to spare room for the third night in a row.

Eating has gone completely tits up. We went to Giraffe for dinner thinking I had a voucher, but it had expired, so spent more than I wanted to and ate bad bad things.

TrillianAstra · 29/01/2010 21:33

Jaq, you can have some treats on your birthday, but don't go ridiculous. CHoose something you'll really enjoy and savour it.

Well done with your electronics Mitts It feels good to be practical and capable doesn't it?
