Wakefield found guilty by the GMC

Finally the GMC stands up and takes the right decision:

www.guardian.co.uk/science/2010/jan/28/mmr-doctor-fail-children-gmc

Apparently there was heckling in court.

"One woman shouted: "These doctors have not failed our children. You are outrageous." She called the panel of experts "bastards" and accused the GMC of being a "kangaroo court". Another shouted: "This is a set-up."

So obviously they believe it's the right thing to do to falsify data and pay parents for blood samples at a kiddies birthday party....

Exactly, it was refreshing to see 'gut' and 'autism' in a mainstream reasonable article.

I do think it is astounding that there can be sensible articles and discussions about this issue in parallel with the persecution we see by the GMC and the Times.

It is great that this is finally becoming an accepted avenue of investigation and treatment.

It has been resisted for too long.

Another study looking at the gut/brain connection plus CFGF diet and urinary peptides (all stuff Wakefield has been saying for years).

When ds's gut problems were being investigated the consultant at the hospital repeatedly denied that it could have anything to do with his autism and ridiculed us for trying a GFCF diet.

A couple of years later we moved house and changed doctors. Ds was prescribed antibiotics for something or other and the GP said that that particular brand might cause diarrhoea so I mentioned ds's problems. He said to me "you know, it is probably linked to his autism".

Btw, I've no idea if there is any truth in this (and it is DM) but could be interesting don't you think?

Let's hope that this progress in the gut/autism link will continue to make progress and not be hampered by any more politics.

This is a rather interesting story about one of the main authors of the two of the major "vaccines don't cause autism" studies the naysayers have cited for many a year.

If I see this story in the mainstream media I will eat several hats.

"A Danish scientist who was a key researcher in two studies that purport to show that mercury used in vaccines and the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine do not cause autism is believed to have used forged documents to steal million from Aarhus University in Denmark according to reports in the Copenenhagen Post Online and a statement from Aarhus University"

I bet there is more to this than meets the eye.
