Welcome to our 36th healthy eating thread, where we will renew any healthy eating resolutions with all the viguor that the Christmas munchies require...

We chat, keep each other on track, and monitor our goals together- some on the thread have lost shed loads of weight, some are running ridiculous distances. Some, of course (like myself and Shiney, our dubious leader) have been a bit, er, remiss really. But that can all change with a New Year!

Come and introduce yourself, old and new, and let's get Mumsnet's famous Shiney Healthy Eating Thread kicked off for 2010...

I think that is definetly why no s works for me as i can have a bit of what ever i fancy within reason and loose restrictions -less need to rebel. Still eating up the part food from NYE so the unhealthiest i have got is a few sausage rolls which quite frankly are never as nice reheated then fresh out of the overn. I have survived the trip to hells r us to return the lego kit that was missing half the bits and bobed into tescos in the same go. Next have to sort out the post office stuff and the library bits -need to online to renew the books we had out over the holidays. Ds can now mostly read his topsy and tim books and the busy town series so he is chuffed and we started a horrid henry early reader last night. Bless him he has discoverd the joy of reading and wanted to finish the 2nd chapter despite his eyes half shutting throughout as he was tired. More horrid henry tonight i suspect. Might be a problem getting him to read the school readers when he goes back as he has never been keen on them. Oh well. i dont care he is reading!

IggiBurns · 02/01/2010 13:43

Ohhh Alice you look lovely in your wedding picture. Would never have thought it was an evening dress, iyswim. Off to Debenhams...

bellavita · 02/01/2010 13:46

Oh poo.

I typed a long bloomin post, caught the wrong button and it has gone. Arse.

Hells, your lunch sounds lovely.

Has your hangover gone now Trills?

TinselianAstra · 02/01/2010 13:48

I'm not that old yet Bella to have a 2-day hangover

hellsbelles · 02/01/2010 13:49

iggi - I couldn't fit into it now either

I'm sure we'll find something between the lot of us!

I'm keeping my food mind occupied as I think lamb shanks may be o.k?! I'm going to do my favourite recipe for t/m lunch and just not eat the carrots.

Chaos - you are a braver woman than I - braving Toys r us!

bellavita · 02/01/2010 13:51

Your time will come Trills, your time will come!!

hellsbelles · 02/01/2010 13:56

Trills - Bella is right. For me it was hitting 30 when it all changed. I was quite smug about my incredible drinking capacity (and recovery times) and then almost overnight it changed and would take a whole day..sometimes two to recover. oh how I miss those days when I could get sloshed and not suffer any consequences.

Bella you are very sweet encouraging me about my boring food - thank you for pretending

IggiBurns · 02/01/2010 13:59

I drank very successfully basically up to getting pregnant (at 36). There were hangovers, but you could lie in bed on Saturday morning, drag yourself out for some therapeutic nachos in the afternoon, lie on couch all evening.
That made all the difference.
Upside now is that it only takes a couple of glasses of wine to make me pissed merry, rather than two bottles!

TrillianAstra · 02/01/2010 14:03

Exactamundo Igii - it's not age but having children and so not being able to do the things that make hangovers bearable.

Mmm, nachos...

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 02/01/2010 14:04

Actually not too bad as most people staying off the really bad roads and they were very efficient on the customer service desk. I was actually impressed but have to go back as i have put my card somewhere safe so they had to do a credit note return as they didnt have a new set in at mo. Anyone know what i can do with an unwanted mr potatoe head set? It was a gift for ds but he wouldnt have looked at it even when he was 2 It would be so much nicer to stand on then transformer body bits and lego.

SazzlesOnASled · 02/01/2010 14:05

No snow here

Just marinating salmon and making babaganoush for visitors this evening. Off to take the DD's for a swim in a mo

Iggi - try BHS Here. They go from size 8 to size 22 off the peg. They seem to have gone up in price as mine was £125 but still some nice stuff. No need to panic yet!!

Cat - i would say it is easier to sort out the sleeping once the feeding has stopped. However DD1 (16months) has only recently stopped waking at 5.30. A phase of liking the early mornings is quite common. Sadly for you

Lizzy - hope you get home ok, is it a feasible walking distance? Even if 3 miles or so?

This is beautiful, I guess it depends on ehow wedding-y you want to be. Alternatively buy something from ebay and get it altered. Or use ebay to find one of those 'you measure yourself and we make it up from a pattern in Thailand' people.

TrillianAstra · 02/01/2010 14:12

Like this - why not start a thread asking everyone 'if your wedding dress cost less than X, where did you get it from?'. Everyone loves to boast about how frugal they are, after all.

IggiBurns · 02/01/2010 14:15

Sazzles, ta, I clearly don't have a clue where to look! I fancy the Camille one from that link the best I think. Feel like I have a team of wedding planners on the case!
Will not ask Sazzles what babaganoush is.

IggiBurns · 02/01/2010 14:18

Thanks Trills. Suppose I have to start a thread myself one day!
I shall stop talking about dresses before you are all bored and talk about how I can fit into a size zero one instead.

hellsbelles · 02/01/2010 14:34

Trills - what a beautiful dress.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 02/01/2010 14:38

Iggi size Zero is not attractive, need a little bit of meat on your bones.

I am drowning in stuff I want to take the tree down i hae had enough of decorations and christmas. Its the new year. Lets move on please can you tell the debate rangin here? ds is running around shouting nnooo its christmas and I want to go back to school. Dad has escaped and mum is muttering about wanting it to stay as long as possible but complaining about the mess. Its the tidiest it has been for months ffs! right to tackle the laundry monster and the random pile of lego parts.

SazzlesOnASled · 02/01/2010 14:46

Babaganoush is a moroccan dip made of aubergine, tomatoes, red pepper, garlic, cumin, rasal hanou (spice mix), a bit of oil and fresh coriander. will be having it with grilled pitta

Lizzylou · 02/01/2010 14:51

Well, have just thawed out.
It took me about 1/2 hour to dig the frigging car out of the car park, then I skidded all the way to main road(dodging dozy pedestrians making a run for it in front of my car, dicks. Had to walk last 2 miles or so as cars weren't getting up the hill and was scared I wouldn't, or would crash.
On walk home saw 3 Double decker buses stuck and a big accident on one of the side roads (lorry has skidded into a 4x4, causing big probs).

Was very lovely and calming though, once I walked, very fresh and not that cold. Must have done something for my thighs as well!

IggiBurns · 02/01/2010 17:04

My god Lizzy that's some adventure. Do you have to go out again tomorrow? I will stop moaning about our measly snow fall here!

hellsbelles · 02/01/2010 17:32

Lizzy - glad you are home safe!

Sazzles - that sounds wonderful and I'm sure that is allowed on the south beach diet (without the pitta)....yum - you have inspired me.

Georgimama · 02/01/2010 17:54

Lizzy that sounds horrific, you poor thing. Don't go anywhere tomorrow.

I have just stood on scales for the first time in 4 months. What I weighed 4 months ago was bad enough, but fuckety fuck (sorry) 15 stone 3 pounds.

do we have a crying emoticon? I am so angry with myself for being a fat, greedy pig.

TrillianAstra · 02/01/2010 18:35

No crying emoticon, but we could do with a resolved one. Now you know the scale of the problem you can begin to attack it. What is your plan of action?

TrillianAstra · 02/01/2010 18:36

I agree Iggi, size zero (even US zero, which is a UK size 4) is only attractive if you are 5 feet or shorter and have a very very slight build. 99% of women in the world would not look attractive if they could fit into size 4 clothes.
