Am bleeding mid cycle and quite worried.

I ovulated 2 days ago (3 days earlier than normal and last period was 3 days late, very odd).

Just been to the loo and there is blood on wiping. Definitely coming from there. Have been feeling crampy for a few days since before I ovulated.

I am in a bit of a panic about it right now and am imagining terrible reasons for it.

Cycle usually normal. No problems.

Should Not Have Googled.

Please.

Not sure what to say to help you worry less, but didn't want you to go unanswered. Could it be implantation bleed, or ovulation spotting.

You really must google no more. Xx

dizietsma · 24/11/2009 17:23

Implantation bleed? Could you be pregnant?

ShowOfHands · 24/11/2009 17:25

I only ovulated 2 days ago. Far too soon for implantation and am not ttc. We're careful.

I've got cramps and have had for a few days. I'm scared.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/11/2009 17:26

How do you know you ovulated two days ago? Sometimes people hVe spotting or light bleeding at ovulation, when the egg actually pops out. If it continues possibly you could go to docs to put your googled mind to rest. X

ShowOfHands · 24/11/2009 17:27

I can feel ovulation. Always have. I can even tell you what side I ovulate on each month. I definitely ovulated 2 days ago so it can't be related to that.

Thank you for replying. Am trying not to panic in front of dd.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/11/2009 17:28

I have a friend who was not ttc and was careful. She is 12 weeks pregnant now! Don't rule it out! Unless of course you aren't having sex!!

southeastastra · 24/11/2009 17:28

i had a period two weeks early the other month was very odd. putting it down to stress/perimenopausel stuff- could it be similar?

ShowOfHands · 24/11/2009 17:30

I'm 28 so I hope it's not perimenopause! We do have sex yes but if I ovulated 2 days ago then it can't be implantation can it?

I'm not good with health stuff at all and am in a bit of a state.

dizietsma · 24/11/2009 17:31

Have you been using ovulation sticks? How do you know you ovulated?

ShowOfHands · 24/11/2009 17:35

I know my body. The day before I ovulate I get a slight headache that increases over time. Cervical fluid peaks, I start to get cramps and a strange backache and then a onesided pain for a couple of hours. Headache and backache then subside, cervical fluid changes and I know I've ovulated. It's always the same.

I had this two months ago - then cycle back to normal the month after. No idea what it was but have read that sometimes these things 'just happen'

mazzystartled · 24/11/2009 17:41

SoH

There are som many tiny, minor, uncomplicated things that this could be, there is no need to panic.

I ahve had mid cycle bleeding in the past and in one case it was a polyp (totally benign and whipped off painlessly in a jiffy) in the other some mild cervical erosion which just resolved itself. There are all sorts of hormonally things that it is infinitessimally more likely to be than anything scary.

Go to the GP (tomorrow if you can), get it checked, put your mind at ease.

No point in worrying (although of course ve hard not to)

ShowOfHands · 24/11/2009 17:47

I did have a cervical erosion while pregnant but that was caused by the pregnancy.

This is just so out of the blue. I can't think why it would happen. And it only took seeing 'malignant tumour' on google for me to start shaking and crying. I need to man up.

Thank you for responding. DH is cooking a nice meal for me and my appetite has just disappeared completely. I can't get to the GP until next week (I don't drive) and don't know what to do until then.

I'm very good at many, many things. Health worries not one of them unfortunately.

Hm, fair enough. If you know, you know.

Yeah, I second going to the GP if you are worried. We have an NHS FP clinic in my city, they're really good for this sort of thing because they have drop in clinics and Gynaecologists, if you have something similar I'd suggest you go there for preference.

mazzystartled · 24/11/2009 17:52

Make the docs appointment and then put it out of your mind, unless the cramps or bleeding worsen, in which case get DH to go to work an hour late or something and go first thing in the morning.

There is no point going around thinking the worst - at your age it really is soooo unlikely to be anything sinister. If you've had erosion before it may well just be a bit of that.

ShowOfHands · 24/11/2009 17:57

There is a FP clinic but have looked at the website and they say they do drop in sessions for contraception, well woman screening and pregnancy advice. I don't know if it fits any of those criteria and it's only nurses. You can phone for an appointment though but doesn't say anything about gynaecologists or medical problems. I think it might have to be the GP.

OP posts:
dizietsma · 24/11/2009 18:08

Well woman screening would cover your concerns. A FP nurse may actually have a better idea of what's up with your bits than a GP, given it's her specialty, but if you feel better seeing a doc that's understandable.

ShowOfHands · 24/11/2009 18:15

No, no not fussy. Just thought the well woman screening was more smear and chlamydia tests rather than investigation/examination/diagnosis etc. I'll ring them tomorrow to find out. Same problem though, no car and no way of getting there until Monday.

Are you on any form of contraception?

Some types can have this effect.

Elibean · 24/11/2009 18:34

Do go to GP, nothing else will ease your mind and its wise anyway

That said, its actually fairly common to have ovulation spotting...the hormone dip (IIRC, been a long time since I read up on it all!) around that time can cause a bit of spotting, if its sudden and extreme (they vary cycle to cycle), and a bit of the womb lining starts to shed before the levels go back up into the luteal phase.

Just so's you know there IS a normal explanation, given the timing of your bleeding - make the GP apt, then enjoy that supper if you can!

ApplesinmyPocket · 24/11/2009 18:34

ShowofHands, I know you're already doing the right thing and getting it checked out, as I did when it happened to me, so definitely do that.

However, I hope it makes you feel a little less worried while you wait to know that this started to happen to me when I wasn't much older than you - just occasionally at first and then became more regular so that I nearly always had a mid-cycle bleed (midd-ish. It wasn't always spot on.) The doctor told me after a few checks that it was really quite common and nothing to worry about, and the very likeliest thing is that yours isn't anything to worry about either.

Wishing you all the best at the docs and STOP GOOGLING. Googling for symptoms always gives one an unnecessarily bleak picture because one gets the impression that the sinister diagnoses are just as likely as the harmless ones, and that isn't so at all.

ShowOfHands · 24/11/2009 20:12

You're all so lovely. I only googled because MN advanced search is buggered. Well that and I'm clearly a twonk but you know, MN is mainly to blame.

I'm not using contraception. I have just admitted to dh why I can't face eating and he was lovely. He wondered if it was anything to do with what we were doing at 3am this morning. Sorry for tmi, but we had rather prolonged (hours as opposed to minutes) and fairly vigorous sex. The bleeding wasn't straight after sex but a few hours later though so I'm not sure if that theory is possible.

Anyway dh was lovely and ran me a bath, said to make an appointment and he'll leave work early to take me.

I'm still shaky but it's only spotting and has about stopped, only there if I probe around investigating what's happening and then only a spot.

ShowOfHands · 24/11/2009 20:13

By not using contraception I mean not using hormonal contraception. We use condoms.
