Hello All

Very simple i just wanted to know without having to justify or explain your answer will you or your children be having the swine flu vaccine.

No.

elvislives · 24/11/2009 14:49

My DD is 2.8 and I am struggling with this decision. I read the notes from the 2 manufacturers freely available on the NHS website and it seems that one of them contains mercury. Neither have been tested for under 3s and the leaflets both spell out that they do not know whether there are contra-indications for this age group.

On the other hand I wouldn't forgive myself if she was seriously ill with SF.

Jury is still out.

Surely the risks posed by squalene are less than the risk posed to developing countries by swine flu? Not that anyone's decision whether to vaccinate or not should be a totally selfless one of course. And if you google anything you can find negative things about it. Ditto squalene. Call me naive but would the requisite authorities really license something that was potentially dangerous? Maybe they would but the only way I feel I can navigate my way through these things is to try and avoid looking for scare stories online! I mean look what that crazy no struck off doctor did to the take up of MMR?

No. Based on fact that we have no risk factors.

There are loads of things that the powers that be or those in the know tick the box for that are either dangerous or potentially dangerous; just look at our foodstuffs.

For example "Phenylalanine - Aspartame
Phenylalanine is a hidden danger to anyone consuming aspartame. Most consumers don't know that too much Phenylalanine is a neurotoxin and excites the neurons in the brain to the point of cellular death".

I really do my best to avoid this additive for me and my Dc's.

I don't trust the power that be they work on figures and percentages!

I just think of Thalidomide that was an anti sickness drug for PREGNANT WOMEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it was licenced as SAFE !!!!!!!!!!!!

yes

SolosScrapingUpForXmas · 24/11/2009 16:27

I didn't want to mention that one sweetbean

sweetbean · 24/11/2009 16:42

I know !

But i surly all the people who have had this vaccine have done so having made an informed decision. And after doing a bit of research. Thankful we are much more able to gain access to information now than back then!!

Sorry if ive upset anyone that was not my intention!

Just an example of the powers that be getting it very wrong!

True, true of course they don't always get it right. What I meant more was that there is SO much information available to us as consumers now that we can't possibly hope to navigate a way through it. Just because something is on the web does not mean it has any basis in truth. But I do think vaccination is not just about individuals. My nanny brings her 3 mth old baby with her and I don't want him to get ill so perhaps I should vaccinate my 1 and 3 yr old? And I'm sorry but illnesses that are relatively 'mild' here can be devastating in places with high levels of poverty, bad sanitation etc.

twolittlekings · 24/11/2009 18:01

Not only is there so much information available, there is so much more MISinformation written by consiracy theorists who talk out of their arses. What has pissed me off about this whole thing is how much the media (daily mail) whip up the propaganda. As I have posted on another thread here that some of their posters believe that the SF vaccine is a mass experiment to cull the human population and other crap. It is unbelieveable what people believe. As much as I am sure there are nasty people in this world I can not believe that we are effectively lab rats for the higher powers that be.

All I want is honest factual information for me to make my decision.

I have vaccinated DS because I am worried about swine flu. It's been a really horrible time and very worrying for many people and it's not helped by the media. Sorry for the rant but I am so fed up with all the CRAP.

bramblebooks · 24/11/2009 18:35

Yes. He's t1 diabetic and asthmatic. done this weekend.
Yes to the older son, he's asthmatic. too ill to be jabbed this weekend - having it next week.
Husband jabbed. asthmatic!

tinalouiseuk · 24/11/2009 18:44

Twolittlekings:
I don't understand why you have such aggression for people who are still questionning the safety of this vaccine for their children?

I have been reading most posts on this subject and other than your references to 'conspiracy theories' - they really are incredibly minor.

Most that I read are simply sharing thoughts and links that lead to further information - I find this a huge help.

LynetteScavo · 24/11/2009 18:47

No

donnie · 24/11/2009 18:49

definitely not.

twolittlekings · 24/11/2009 18:51

I AM questioning the safety of the vaccine - have you not read this thread and the other swine flu threads that I have been on???

I just find that mainstream media such as the Mail have been especially bad in stirring it up and the people on their posting sites make it worse for those just trying to find clear and unbiased information. The links that many give are to sites such as "the flu case" and other rubbish that then talk about mass culling theories and it has really stressed me out in the last few weeks. If you google swine flu or Pandremix the top searches are indeed to sites like this and I am fed up with the worry this issue is bringing and just wish that there was somewhere with clear and TRANSPARENT information.

tinalouiseuk · 24/11/2009 18:55

Twolittlekings:
I understand your frustration and agree that transparency is what we are all looking for - just saying it would be better if we work together in a civil way for our children

twolittlekings · 24/11/2009 18:59

but I am being civil - I really don't understand what you mean by "working together in a civil way for our children". I have not directed anything at you and if I'm not allowed to express frustration here then where can I?
