Scared- have lump on breast.

mummyofevilprincesses · 20/11/2009 22:39

I discovered a lump on my breast while showering this week,it isn't painful but I have seen my GP and have been booked in for mammogram and biopsy. I am so frightened. I can't help thinking the worst and am struggling to keep calm. Has anyone else been there that can talk me down? Is it ever ok?

what complete crap - I'm sorry but I think that is irresponsible to post such ridiculous ideas - cancer, is serious and needs proper MEDICAL treatment. It might be ok for soothing bumps and lumps that have no carcinogenic properties - you can't know for sure whether something is cancerous or not without proper medical diagnosis.

GodRestYeMerryMummyLin · 02/12/2009 09:03

am going to report that post, its ridiculous.

BecauseImWorthIt · 02/12/2009 09:13

And it's your only post, suggesting that you're only here to sell something ...

I have reported too

Cakesandale · 02/12/2009 09:32

Can that post from "Magicdoc" just GO, please? I can't think of anything more irresponsible than someone offering a few herbs and potions as a miracle cure for something as potentially serious and insidious as cancer.

reallywoundup · 02/12/2009 10:35

we seem to have an influx of lunatic miracle cancer cures recently have reported as well- last thing that mn or indeed its members need.

Cakesandale · 02/12/2009 11:01

Right well I have had a message from Mumsnet suggesting that I post a comment about the consequences of pursuing one of MagicDoc's "miracle" cures, or anything of a similar ilk.

So here it is.

Basically, these supposed miracle cures are a way for the unscrupulous and/or misguided to make money out of someone else's anxiety and pain.

There are plenty of examples of people who have eschewed the normal path of surgery and follow-up treatment, and their stories are not good. There are, however, few IF ANY properly documented cases of people being cured by herbs, strange lights in the sky, people waving their arms around and chanting, or anything else.

Alternative therapies DO have a place, but only in supporting people through the proper surgical and medical procedures.

Muumyofevilprincesses - I wish you all the luck in the world, but for God's sake take no notice of people like Magicdoc touting miracle cures. I am afraid that you might meet several of them along the way

BecauseImWorthIt · 02/12/2009 11:18

I have had the same message - frankly I'm really disappointed that this post hasn't been deleted

How incredibly insensitive this was.

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/12/2009 12:34

well done Cakes - agree with all that - have also reported to mn

reallywoundup · 02/12/2009 12:50

i'm actually offended by mnhq's stance on this one- yeaterday they asked a poster 'anyfucker' to change her name because it was offending people, yet today they are allowing someone to lie to very vulnerable people about utter bollocks. I sincerely hope that hq think again- this would not look good in the media at all!

KurriKurri · 02/12/2009 13:51

I agree with everyone on here regarding Magicdoc's post. Am amazed it is still here. Appalling and dangerous nonsense.

MummyofEvilPrincess, this thread is for your support and I'm sorry someone has taken advantage. I wish you all the very best for Thursday, and hope everything goes well for you.

RudolphRocks · 02/12/2009 16:23

Reported too.

I shall be thinking of you tomorrow Mummyof.. All the very best.

GodRestYeMerryMummyLin · 02/12/2009 17:07

I too have recieved the same email from mnhq and am puzled as to why they havent removed it,so my message to magicdoc is here.

You have posted a load of drivel which could end up with people who are feeling scared and vulnerable turning to your so called miracle cure and bypassing going to the correct medical people.Thank god that most people are sensible and wouldnt even consider using your "cure. In cases of cancer conventional medicines and doctors must be the first port of call.

And MNHQ i stil think magicdoc,s post should be removed

mummyofevilprincesses i wish you all the best for tomorrow.

mummyofevilprincesses · 02/12/2009 20:34

Thanks for your support ladies, I am getting very nervous about tomorrow. I'm trying to stay positive but it is scary.

I am just going to ignore Magicdoc, but if this is a troll trying to sell something, I don't think this was a very appropriate thread to post on. It doesn't help me and is not what I need right now.

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/12/2009 21:09

lots of good thoughts coming your way for tomorrow x

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 02/12/2009 21:12

My best wishes for tom

onestep · 02/12/2009 21:14

Magicdoc, who diagnosed the herbalist's wife's breast cancer ? Are you certain it was cancer ? Has he "cured" anyone else ? If so, how many ? Are there any independent reports on this that you can link us into ?

And what about your lump; what was it ? A cyst ? A fibroadenoma ? Something else ? Did you ever see it on a scan/mammogram/mri report ? Or did you just feel it coming and going ? And it went after you'd paid for some herbs...?

Thing is, there is so much information out there, it's not easy to sort through it.

But I like to rely on evidence when it comes to serious health issues and how to treat them. Where's yours ?

magicdoc · 03/12/2009 01:17

No need to be rude here! I was just sharing my experience and trying to help someone who believes in the power of herbs and may get benefit from them. And also, herbs would only be used after proper medical diagnosis. Don't forget pretty much all medicines in the world come from herbs originally!

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/12/2009 09:55

I think you'll find that people were being forthright with you because of the absolutely total lack of sensitivity in your post.

Not only did it sound like you were trying to sell something, there was a complete disregard for the situation of the OP.

Think before you post.

GodRestYeMerryMummyLin · 03/12/2009 09:55

magicdoc.i would like to suggest that if you want a discussion about the use of herbal medicines that you start another thread about them.As you can see if you scroll back to the last post by the original poster your first post upset her. This is not what she needs right now so please leave this thread.

reallywoundup · 03/12/2009 10:41

can i just add that as magic doc has freedom of speech on the boards so bloody well do i!

Message to magicdoc: SOD OFF!! you are insensitive, dangerous and unhinged.

Lulumama · 03/12/2009 11:00

I think if chinese herbs can cure cancer then the whole of the medical profession would be pouncing on that and all oncologists would be prescribing these miracel cures. rather than putting women through silly old treatments like chemo, radiotherapy and surgery

why is it that such a cure has not been trumpeted from every newspaper, news channel and tv show?

no issue at all with complementary medicine being used alongside the more usual medicine and treatments, but do not agree with it being touted as a cure for cancer

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 03/12/2009 11:08

Agree Lulu and as others have said your post did upset the OP who i am sure doesn't need any more emotional upset at the moment.
As for 'guaranteeing to cure breast cancer' where is your evidence of that ?

Thinking of you today mummyoep

alypaly · 03/12/2009 13:34

try not to worry mummy....good luck for today. I had three breast lumps at different times and dreaded the worst as my aunty had breast cancer. The results came back as benigh firoadenomas. (fatty lumps) they were removed and i have never had them again for over 15 years. Some doctors call them breast mice...which i think is a nicer term.

mummyofevilprincesses · 03/12/2009 13:56

I'm back and all is good! They couldn't find anything other than some fatty tissue and said my breasts look completely clear! OMG the relief I felt when they said I was fine was unbelievable!

Thank you all for your support, I have been one of the lucky ones today, but the ladies I sat with, drank tea with and chatted to at the clinic, who may not have been as fortunate as me, are in my thoughts. xxx

So pleased for you MummyOEP. I know from experience what an anxious time the waiting is. Now you can relax
