Anyone fancy having a stab at a diagnosis?

I have an appt with gp next week but in the meantime; chronic tension leading to headaches almost daily (tension is largely neck/throat), spotting of light brown blood pretty much daily for at least 2 months, increased appetite, bit trembly sometimes, irritable in the extreme, voice sometimes croaky in the mornings (I notice this particularly after taking syndol for the headaches, it's a muscle relaxant and painkiller). This has been going on for 2-3 months.

Thanks for reading, I'm a bit embarrassed about such navel-gazing.

I'd go for a first of having your thyroid checked

MitchyInge · 18/11/2009 11:25

after genitalia checked out for any ambivalence of course

SlartyBartFast · 18/11/2009 11:25

could it be fibroids?
and the tension headache is caused by the worry

Cadelaide · 18/11/2009 11:27

Well i ws diagnosed with a small fibroid about 18m ago.

I'm 44, spose it could be menopause-y type stuff. I'm too young though, surely?

OP posts:
Cadelaide · 18/11/2009 11:28

Thyroid. Have wondered about that. Common in women of a certain age, i understand.

OP posts:
SlartyBartFast · 18/11/2009 11:28

agree, 44 deffo too young

could the fibroid be causign the brown spotting then?

Cadelaide · 18/11/2009 11:29

off to google fibroid symptoms.

I know, I know, never google symptoms...

how's your sugar intake? And how much do you drink?

thumbwitch · 18/11/2009 11:32

fluid, I mean, not alcohol

Cadelaide · 18/11/2009 11:34

Sugar intake probably a little higher than ideal, but not excessive (that'll be average then).

Fluids...dunno. Plenty but not loads?

SlartyBartFast · 18/11/2009 11:35

ooh i know,
anaemia! go google girl!

MilkyChopsKid · 18/11/2009 11:38

Can you stretch your neck and shoulders so you don't get the headaches? I used to get tension headaches from tensing up my shoulders and neck and have almost managed to stop them.

The sore throat could be due to reflux if the drugs are a muscle relaxant, if you can reduce the headaches this may improve, or try eating less in the evening if you take these drugs.

Others have covered the gynae/head problems

Cadelaide · 18/11/2009 11:40

Hmmm.

Anaemia interesting. I do have occasional brief bouts of tinnitus.

OP posts:
thumbwitch · 18/11/2009 11:43

tinnitus could be linked to neck tension; do you ever have feelings of dizziness or "bubble-headedness"?

Cadelaide · 18/11/2009 11:52

Occasional dizziness, but I've been putting that down to anxiety. Whether the anxiety is a symptom or a cause I can't fathom.

Haven't read whole thread but my money is on thyroid- canfaffect periods, appetite, headaches and voice.

SlartyBartFast · 18/11/2009 11:57

you havent read whole thread?

you missed an important fact

hope you doctor sorts it out for your cadelaide.

thumbwitch · 18/11/2009 12:05

the dizziness could also be linked to your neck tension (which will be linked to the stress/anxiety )

As well as seeing the doc to sort out the other symptoms, if you can afford to, I would go see and osteopath or a decent massage therapist to get your neck tension sorted out. That will quite likely reduce your headaches as well, clear the dizziness and possibly the tinnitus, which will reduce your need for the painkillers and any side-effects from them.

noddyholder · 18/11/2009 12:07

b12 deficiency?I had the croaky voice headaches etc have been having jabs for 6 months now and its a miracle the exhaustion and short temper went overnight!I also had tingly feelings

Cadelaide · 18/11/2009 12:23

Hey noddy, did it take long to reach a diagnosis? I dread multiple visits to gp with no answers, think that's why i've been putting off going.
