Who in the 'at risk' group is still waiting to hear from their GP about the vaccine?

Just curious really. dd and dh belong to different gp surgeries and neither of them have had a letter from the gp yet about the vaccine. We've been told they will get one due to their asthma. I know that it was supposed to take up to around 3 or 4 weeks for all gp practices to get the vaccine for their vulnerable patients, 3-4 weeks if starting to feel like a long time now that we have flu in our school.

Who else is still waiting?

Not heard anything here yet.

thegrowlygus · 02/11/2009 10:49

We haven't had delivery of our vaccines yet - meant to be in on Wednesday. We've had the syringes delivered with the wrong needles...

hannahsaunt · 02/11/2009 10:57

I heard from mine this morning and the first clinic is tomorrow afternoon. However ... I want the Baxters vaccine which will be given at a special one off clinic for the city for those with egg allergies (and fussy pregnant women ) and they've heard diddly squat about it so can't refer me yet. Now feel like between a rock and a hard place; one of their GPs who is pg has had the pandremix.

Jux · 02/11/2009 10:59

DH and I got ours when I went to the doc for something else last week. He said we were down to have it and did we want it now? Then went off, got it and shot us both up there and then.

Otherwise we would probably be hearing in the next couple of weeks.

Hope yours get there soon (with the right needles!).

EldonAve · 02/11/2009 10:59

still waiting but not surprised due to the postal strike

sherby · 02/11/2009 11:01

Pregnant. Still waiting, surgery has notices up saying they will call asap when vaccine comes in

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2009 12:12

Thats handy Jux nice to get it over with quickly.

Gus, hope it goes more smoothly than it seems to be starting in your practice!

Hannah, dunno if this link will help your decision: dh briefing on vaccine

At my GP surgery they're not expecting to have the vaccine for 'at risk' people until late Dec, and into 2010 for others.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2009 13:01

Your kidding MrsJD? how on earth does that fit into the 3-4 weeks for deliveries to GP surgeries that the DH say to expect? Thats pretty bad news.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2009 13:01

(don't suppose you could ask about vaccine deliveries in the vaccine web chat could you? I've asked my question already)

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2009 13:08

Hope you don't mind MrsJD - I've quoted you in a question in the webchat. Let me know if its a problem and I'll ask MN to delete it pronto. (didn't want to lose the opportunity)

still waiting here for DH who is on chemo, but not sure where they come on the list iyswim

nickytwotimes · 02/11/2009 13:17

I am pg and waiting to hear when it will finally be in here. Probably too bloody late.

abra1d · 02/11/2009 13:18

We haven't heard yet for our children, who both have asthma.

MrsJohnDeere · 02/11/2009 13:24

no, don't mind being quoted.

Don't know if it makes a difference, but my GP's surgery is in a rural area and they've not had any reported cases of swine flu amongst patients yet.

whoops · 02/11/2009 13:37

I asked my gp on Friday about it and she told me they weren't expecting it until the 16th Nov and then they would probably ring the patients that are in the at risk catagories

ChairmumMiaow · 02/11/2009 13:56

GP said end of november here. However she also said not to have it until after 12wks pg so that's not till early december for me...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2009 14:00

Thanks MrsJD - I had an incomplete answer to my question on the webchat, I'll see if my supplementary is answered.

Ok, Dr Salisbury says that the initial vaccine distribution is on schedule which doesn't seem to tie in with reality on the ground.

I hope that he goes away and has another look at the delivery schedule and follows this one up.

OP posts:
weblette · 02/11/2009 14:10

Our surgery gets it on November 11, may already be too late though as there's swine flu in ds2's class

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2009 14:48

especially as full immunity takes some time unfortunately.

Still waiting (for asthmatic DD - and apparently there were some cases of SF amongst pupils at her school over the half term (email from school yesterday).

Getting increasingly p* off at statements that it will be 'soon'.

hippipotamiHasLost75lbs · 03/11/2009 13:53

Severely asthmatic dh. He was told the stocks of SF vaccine wont' be available at our surgery until mid November and then it just remains to be seen how far up or down the list he is.

bellissima · 03/11/2009 13:54

PS - lisad123 - when I last spoke to the GP he did tell me that pregnant women and 'high' risk groups - and he specifically mentioned those on chemo - would be offered the very first doses that the surgery received (and I must say that I wouldn't argue with that).
