Shiney shiney, shiney boots of leather- crack the whip with the healthy eating thread...

...Come and be a Venus In Fake Furs (with a nod to any vegetarians, who may enjoy the odd Quorn fillet...)on our healthy eating thread, and watch yourself vanish before your very eyes, if that is your aim!

We are supporting each other to lose weight, or just eat well and get fit- but we do like a bit of a laugh along the way, so if you are interested in joining Shiney and the other regulars here and be in the gang, just drop in and post as much as you can- the thread moves fast!

All welcome- the only quiches round here are the contraband in my fridge

You OK, Iggi?

If it's more than 2 pots I will give some to PIL, they are both on low-cholesterol diets, they liked TOTAL 0% yog on meringues over the summer.

BitOfFun · 05/11/2009 20:03

Hey, for all I don't want to be abandoned to my fate with dd2, I must say it is rather nice being in with her in bed getting full use of the tv remote and nobody teasing me for being on my laptop

Iggi999 · 05/11/2009 20:03

Thanks Lizzy, fine, just humdinger of a day. First day in months that DS hasn't had a nap, not used to solid mother-and-son time! He also ended up slapping me round the face in B&Q when I took him away (after 5 mins of staring) from a Christmas tree display.
OOOH, while you're there, could you suggest a supermarket that stocks the carmalised onions in a jar, my local Morrisons could only offer me pickled onions.

Lizzylou · 05/11/2009 20:06

Hmm, Iggi, not so sure, have you tried a deli type place?
Will check Tescos, is there one near you?

Both DS's have belted me at one time or another, makes you feel all special, doesn't it?

Iggi999 · 05/11/2009 20:11

Yes, it went from a magic xmasy moment to a tantrumy trauma in seconds! Ah, excuse to check out the lovely Valvona & Crolla deli near me. Goodness knows what I'll come out with.

Lizzylou · 05/11/2009 20:11

Tesco do This one

I don't know if it's just a Northern thing but Mrs Darlingtons do a lovely one.

It really is simple to do your own, but far easier to buy I know, esp when your son has decided not to nap (I do remember that stage, I never knew how much I looked forward to naptime before then!)

jetforkesandbonfires · 05/11/2009 20:13

mmmmm, did someone mention merangue WHen i get my lovely Total 0% yoghurt i might try that

and even 1 pot would be lovely, if anyone at Total is reading

jetforkesandbonfires · 05/11/2009 20:16

i think i am having a competition with myself to see how many s i can get in one post

possible really stupid question coming up, but how easy is it to do caramalised onions, and what would they be used for?? And do they look pretty enough to go in a hamper for xmas of food type stuff

Lizzylou · 05/11/2009 20:20

Gosh yes Jet, was thinking of doing some myself.
I absolutely bloody love them.
I just sort of made mine up (and got it a bit wrong tbh, still nice, but not as fab as I would have liked). I will have a look for a recipe for you.

Iggi999 · 05/11/2009 20:21

I've been told you can make a killer goats cheese pastry thing with them
I think they'd be great in a hamper.
Got to go to Tescos tomorrow so I'll have a rummage then - ta very much for tip.

jetforkesandbonfires · 05/11/2009 20:22

thanks lizzy

glad you are all so excited about the TOTAL giveaway!! hope you all get lorry loads of goodies!

It has all stemmed from syc herself when we had the TOTAL dieting survey going saying "I basically should win this as anyone who is on or has visited any of the 20 plus Shiney's diet threads will vouch - I have personally introduced my patented Syc yog breakfast based on a pot of Total 0% yog, blueberries and honey to about one million (honest) MNetters looking to shed pounds" here

Basic Caramelised Onions, for that tart thing of which you speak

Especially for Jet, there is a video! With a cheesy US chef!

Or here

Am certain I have seen one on MN anyway.

hellsbelles · 05/11/2009 20:43
