What can I stick up my bum tonight to keep the worms in?

Since the nasty doctor won't prescribe me anything for threadworms what would you recommend to prevent them coming out?

Was thinking gigantic dollop of Vaseline but then began to wonder of there might be something more toxic I could use.

I've heard Garlic is good, but I don't think I could cope with a whole clove up there for the entire night.

and you are 39 weeks pg so cannot be easy to bend or see anything much below your bosom.

cornsilk · 29/06/2009 22:02

them

TsarChasm · 29/06/2009 22:02

Are you allowed Citricidal? It is seriously the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted, but I drank it. Gratefully.

noonar · 29/06/2009 22:03

i can just feel em wriggle. dont need to 'find' one as such.

Greensleeves · 29/06/2009 22:03

I bet you scratched an itch and got one under your fingernail

foxinsocks · 29/06/2009 22:04

what to eat to put off threadworms, near the bottom of the link

look, she does advocate the garlic up the arse routine. Surely that doesn't do anyone any favours?

Oh y'know, just bum gazing as you do.

Fortunately was not packed lunch making at the time.

Off to Google Citricidal, thanks.

I can be terribly histrionic about worms.

if i were 39\weeks i would take the ovex

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 29/06/2009 22:09

Has anyone mentioned one of these?

But seriously, I do feel your pain, being 39 weeks pregnant in this heat is bad enough. I know you can't bear the thought but I really would think about garlic. Peel and slightly bash it up to release the oils. I have tried in for thrush (obviously not the same place but equally as sensitive and did not sting).

TsarChasm · 29/06/2009 22:10

Lol you won't thank me - it's horrible stuff.

I know this is probably all wrong but I just chew an Ovex sweetie tablet on a regular basis these day. I cannot bear the thought ever ever again of...them...

onepieceofcremeegg · 29/06/2009 22:13

Serious question, does anyone know what happens to them if you don't treat them? Do they eventually go away of their own accord? (assuming one washes regularly etc)

hobbgoblin · 29/06/2009 22:16

Lol at butt plug idea.

Do you think the garlic clove would come back out again in the morning? Thanks for link btw. foxinsocks.

The antenatal clinic said I could have drugs but GP said not. Either way, I had to get a stool sample and a load of faff before receiving prescription.

Fed up. It won't be all lovely and clean for the baby when she arrives. There will be worm eggs lurking.

i sympathise, i had threadworms but didn't realise (having managed to avoid them for 40 years), I thought I had itchy piles and one night they were so bad that I had to try to sleep with an ice cube wedged against the offending area with a flannel, it was blissful but kept melting far too quickly, I won't tell you how I discovered that I had them.

onepieceofcremeegg · 29/06/2009 22:21

Oh go on wiggles, tell us. You might save someone else from the same fate.

foxinsocks · 29/06/2009 22:22

well I hesitated linking (as none of it is proven it seems!) but you did sound desperate

hey, you know what, if they are creeping out now, that tends to mean you have 2-3 days of them doing that and then they bugger off (always seems that way to me grrr), waiting for you to scratch your arse and stick your finger in your mouth

so maybe, just maybe, they will bugger off before the baby is born

can you take it when breastfeeding ?

TsarChasm · 29/06/2009 22:24

Wiggly - good name on a worm thread..

Goober · 29/06/2009 22:24

Stuff a blackbird up there. He will eat them all.

hobbgoblin · 29/06/2009 22:25

Goober, stop making me have Braxton Hicks!!! LOL

if you bath your bum morning and evening and wear well fitting pants the leetle bastards shouldn't be able to continue their unpleasantness. also cut fingernails short. ( i picked up worms in the hospital when i had dd)

good luck

chevre · 29/06/2009 22:30

meant to say wear pants at night so the eggs can't escape [boak]

onepieceofcremeegg · 29/06/2009 22:32

chevre if one was to do that will the worms/eggs just eventually die off do you know?

chevre · 29/06/2009 22:35

the cycle is
a, you swallow eggs
b, they work their way down and hatch
c, they wiggle out and lay eggs
d, they die
e, you swallow eggs

etc etc
trick is to stop ingesting the eggs. and yes the worms do die. google it to get more precise info.

Elibean · 29/06/2009 22:37

hobbs, honestly, I would take Pripsen asap. You don't need a prescription. If the antenatal clinic were ok with it, whats the GP's problem?

Though you do sound a lot cooler about the little horrors than I was - dh said he's never seen me so crazy as when I had (I quote) hormonal-worm-paranoia
